PSP2 dev kit outed?

Ok,Nintendo proved the viability of touch controls with the DS,so I can see why Sony would want to include touch to stay competitive.But why on Earth is the touch panel on the back?My brother said maybe it's like those tables you see at hospitals with the magnetic cars inside it and you move them with magnets on the bottom of the table.I have to say,it would be difficult to use the entire touch surface without moving your hands off the dual control sticks,unless this thing is really small.

superior graphics, better sound and more games. That's all I'm hearing but the truth of the matter is that the PSP already had all of that. DS games suck in comparison. Sure you can have fun with them. I love playing games. but I like doing other things too. watching movies, listening to music and surfing the net. The PSP allowed me to do this and more. Add Social Networking, return skype, UMD for movies that gamers want. (sci-fi, Horror, Action and Anime) and sure add 3D why not Nintendo doesn't own that feature. I loved the way the DSi allowed you to play with sound and picture. but I really wanted was to mess with video. Rewind, Slo-mo and other video effects to store on your SD card or upload to you tube would be awesome.

And I really hope they find a GOOD design choice for the system. The psp 1000-3000 was great. The analog nub was a bit uncomfortable at times but it worked. And it was pretty much a copy of the gba style. So instead of going for a strange phone design, why not try to emulate a gba sp/ds style? with a flip screen O.o? So the buttons and analog sticks are gonna be more comfy on the hands and easier to hold it an play it. Or go with the psp's original style and just ... fit things better :P Especially if you look at how the extra analog stick is only going to be used for camera control when necessary and shooting games O.o? Not to mention the psp could ahve simply used the D-pad for movement, and the analog nub for camera control in the first place. And have the control scheme for starwars battlefront renegade squadron , or resident evil 4 , or siphon filter for shooting games. honestly people want something that they really dont need, nor know why the truly want it.

And to state my reason on why the lack of UMD is actually bad. 1. you cant sell the games. 2. you cant get "used" ones or get games for a rather affordable. 3. If you lose the psp you kind of lose everything? I mean I would think you can re-downland it for free on your account, but still. But I do see 2 good things in this. 1. The reason most psp titles cost $40 is because the UMD's cost alot to make. So by removing the expensive disc, and dealing with pure data the prices can drop to 25-30$ instead. (hopefully) 2,. you can have all your games with you on the go, with all the storage data needed to maintain it :P

Honestly, I think It would be a very poor choice to release the PSP2 at the same time as the 3DS. Because the lack of UMD lowers the already low odds of somebody buying a psp over a ds. But I do commend both Sony and Nintendo, for releasing "upgrades" of their current portable systems. That introduce certain functions that will be in the next irritation, and the drawbacks. Sadly no umd support is alot more bothersome then the lack of a GBA slot.

horrible! not the pspgo type of design! omg..buttons & joysticks should be on the sides like with the original psp..i've loved all the playstation designs up to the pspgo, which was an ugly and unhandy design imo..i really hope they don't take it in that direction

Imho, if digital game copies are going to be a success, a rather large flash memory will need to be implemented. I'd say at least 32GB expandable to 64GB by use of Memory Stick Micro or, preferably, MicroSD. People aren't going to like constantly deleting and re-downloading games. And please, no more awkwardly placed analog sticks. :)

@big-boss-91 you are right... they are not going to have the old UMD's so dont dislike my comment because thats the truth! geez! people also need to understand that this is why gamestop (the store) are acting like fan-boys and on their game-informer magazine, they said that the psp go is bad and that no one should get it and that is because it has no UMD's and no UMD's equal to bad gamestop buisness... so if you see gamestop saying that the psp2 will be bad (because they dont support UMD, the fuk them bacuse they are DS fanboys

If they make a PSP2, they should support PSP games, PS2 and PS classics, 1080p HD, and also should support 720p HD. Let's not forget the Wifi, skype, and Playstation Network or whatever it will be called.

Whatever they do, I hope that PSP2 will be compatible with PSP games.

I love how people have already made comments about whether they would buy this or not. Even if it is real, it's a prototype and is bound to change.

Goddamn my cell phone from the 80s can take better pics. Anyways, I like the idea of the dual thumbsticks, but the right one seems awkwardly placed. I dunno, that's just me. I prefer my right thumbstick to the lower right instead of the upper right.

Meh, if it's anything like the last one I'll be sticking with Nintendo for handhelds again, the original PSP was a horrible system and the only good games on it where FFVII: Crisis Core, KH:Birth By Sleep, and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.

Hopefully that's a prototype having the analog sticks above the dpad and buttons could be very awkward to use. We'll just have to wait and see.
