PS3 bundle to include remastered versions of original, Going Commando, and Up Your Arsenal; set to arrive first in Europe this spring.
Three PlayStation 2 Ratchet & Clank titles are headed to the PlayStation 3. Insomniac Games CEO Ted Price today announced the Ratchet & Clank Collection, due out in North America this fall.
The Ratchet & Clank Collection will contain the original Ratchet & Clank, Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, and Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal. The PlayStation 2 games are being remastered for the PS3 by Idol Minds (Pain) with the help of Insomniac Games.
All three games will sport full 1080p high-definition visuals, stereoscopic 3D support, and trophies. Additionally, the new version of Up Your Arsenal will include the same competitive multiplayer component that was a new feature for the series when the game originally shipped in 2004.
The collection will make its premiere in Europe this spring. A price for the bundle was not mentioned, and as of press time, Sony had not responded to GameSpot's request for comment.
Sony said it is choosing to release the Ratchet & Clank Collection in North America later than Europe because the company has "something very special" planned for American gamers.
The first indication that Sony was planning a Ratchet & Clank collection came earlier this month when Amazon France posted (and then removed) a listing for the pack.
The Ratchet & Clank Collection is not the first high-definition combo pack the publisher has released. The company has shipped PS3 HD collections for Sly Cooper, God of War, Jak and Daxter, and Ico & Shadow of the Colossus.

Love the franchise of ratchet and clank i still have ALL the games for the ps2 and ps3 so I personally cant wait for this collection to come out
'Something special' for NA? Talk about jipped. I'm an avid RC fan and have EVERY game, including the 2 PSP games that were ported to PS2. I'm insulted that I'm not as deserving just because I live somewhere else. No love for Australia? F*** you. I'll just have to get it imported as usual.
But why can't we all get 'something very special'? Doesn't seem fair...Still, if it turns out to be Deadlocked I won't be bothered. Anyway, for all my fellow European gamers, Playstation Magazine has confirmed a release date of May 16th :) Just under 2 months to go.
@HappyBB Would you really be happy paying $60 for five to ten year old games? You say that now, but I really don't think you would. Also, to do the games in Hi Def takes up room on the Blu Ray disc. Three is probably the most they want to go with that.
2004... One of my favorite years for many reasons. Spiderman 2, The Incredibles, Halo 2, but my #1 favorite reason... You can shove it Up Your Arsenal cause I ain't sayin! :| Seriously though, a liiitle disappointed there's no Deadlocked, it wasn't my favorite RC but I still loved it. Maybe we're getting that game too as part of the "something special." Happy ten years, Ratchet and Clank. You guys made my teen years. You guys were my number one game I wanted my PS3 for.
Can these remastered games include more than 3 of the original games? How about the whole and complete package and then you can charge us at $59.99? I have not played any of these remastered or original games. I would really want to try them all out in a complete package!
can't wait. One reason why I switched back to Sony, because I love Ratchet & Clank and MLB the Show.
Ugh, my PS2 has been scratching disks in a perfect circle and has ruined certain parts of games I have like MGS3. I don't have many games for it but R&C:GC is one of them, as well as Jak II, and NFS:HP2.
Well those were my favs anyways that I own for that system. Since they all have HD versions for PS3 with the exception of NFS:HP2, I must get one, and hopefully before year's end, and cop the aforementioned HD releases as well.
I wish they included Ratchet: Deadlocked with this HD compilation though, it's pretty much blasphemy not to include it. They did the same thing to the Jak series by not including JakX:Combat Racing, and MGS missing Portable Ops.
@Sohereiam yeah i know that but since he was asking if the UK version would work in the US i assumed hes talking about the disc version which will work
@Draco416 Because Deadlocked was an online heavy game, and they would have to get it to run on the Playstation Network. And that would take time, or even a complete rebuilding from the ground up.
@amaan4ever yes, ps3 games are region free :D I have a PS3 from the UK and now live in Chile where all the games are American versions and they work with no problem... the American versions also have better box art if I am being honest
If you're not gonna put Deadlocked on the disc then at least make it a separate download available on the PS store for $15 or sumpthin like that. Though I don't get why you can't just put it on the disc, seeing as how Blu-Ray discs are 50gb.
@SirNormanislost The PS3 system isn't region free, Sony gives the option to the developers to produce a game whiteout lockout, but the region lock exist, to the point if you have an Region 1(North America) game and play on Region 2(Europe) PSN account, the DLC will not work, the DLC needs to be from the game(not the system) region.
Awesome news, you guys aren't losing out on anything without deadlocked. That game is nothing at all like all the other ratchet games and I thought it was quite terrible.
Man, why do people always just fixate on what they are not getting. 3 HD R&C games???? Thats awesome. I love the franchise, easy day 1 buy for me. Cant wait to get 3 easy plaitinums too... Well easy may be a quick judgement. They could have some evil trophies planned. I remeber early Ratchet skill points and gold bolts. Evil...
they make remastered versions of these games ???? I'm still waiting for HD remastered version of galerians psx
"Sony said it is choosing to release the Ratchet & Clank Collection in North America later than Europe because the company has "something very special" planned for American gamers." Yeah, some kind of shafting, I'm sure.
RATCHET: DEADLOCKED IS AWESOME, I loved the gladiator theme, and arena combat, and especially the co-op :D
I would laugh quite heartily if sony arranged for hd remakes of the original spyro and crash trilogy done by insomniac& nuaghty dog respectfully
I bet they'll do another collection with deadlocked (with online), and truly "remastered" versions of the 2 psp games :D I'm basing this of the 2 god of war collections, and the fact up your arsenal is getting an enhanced multiplayer mode.
Well, since Deadlocked isn't included, I don't feel too bad for tracking these all down on ps2 two years ago, but still. Kinda a waste.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSS!!!!!!!!!! But why no DeadLocked? I loved that game!. Maybe they wouldv'e even integrated it's online with the PSN/SEN/Whatever-N, that would've been epic.... But just a lost dream now. Still exciting news.
I loved these games on my ps2, i still have them too, i would love to play them but no backwards compatibility =( Oh well I'd still probably get this even if my ps2 copy's did work
