This dlc is just another reason for me to force my friend into buying this game too. I hope they introduce some fixes along with this dlc, there are still some bugs out there. I really hope they fix the weather cheat as well. It doesn't really work and I really liked being able to change the weather in GTA IV.
Rockstar confirms Myths & Mavericks Bonus Pack with new multiplayer characters and locations confirmed for release on PlayStation Network, Xbox Live.
It's been over a year since Red Dead Redemption first hit stores, but the Rockstar San Diego blockbuster and GameSpot's 2010 Game of the Year isn't riding off into the sunset just yet. Rockstar today announced that it would launch the free Myths & Mavericks Bonus Pack for the open-world Western on September 13.
Set for release on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the Myths and Mavericks Bonus Pack brings new characters and environments to the game's multiplayer component. The eight new characters are pulled from the original game's single-player mode and highlighted by aging gunslinger Landon Ricketts. The rest of the new additions include Vicente DeSanta, Drew MacFarlane, Deputy Eli, Deputy Jonah, Javier Esquella, Nastas, and Uncle.
As for the environments, there are 11 new locations supporting between one and four game modes each. Additionally, the Armadillo, Chuparosa, and Tumbleweed maps now support the Stronghold game type.

September 13th is my bday...thats great :D aparently I dont have a console and this game...I have PC...so yea... it sucks :(
Hey Activision, look! Free DLC, as in no charge. Bet that just seems crazy to you dont it? Danke Rockstar, I shall enjoy this.
@Snicker-Man Judging from the posts up here, a lot still have it. I don't trade games in myself because they don't give you close to what they're worth. Not to mention I enjoy going back and playing them again once in a while. I think the whole achievement/trophy setup has also increased replay value, keeping gamers retrying the game to get some of those hard-to-get trophies/achievements.
I love this game.. but I never was really into the multiplayer. I hope theyre working on a sequel for Red Dead or Bully next after the new GTA.
@gatsbythepig Aahhhhh! Ok, that makes sense! =P Well... sorta! I'm doing my second playthrough now, and happily reached the Mexican border crossing again... which, in all honesty, has to be one of my most memorable moments ever in gaming. @Snicker-Man Well, games that I consider 'all-time favorites' stay in my collection... this one included!
Nice that they are releasing free DLC, but I was never a big fan of RDR multiplayer. I guess this will give me an excuse to give it another try.
A good example of a little effort going a long way in terms of satisfying customers. The new maps and the new characters didn't cost rockstar much at all to make. The maps are already there, they have just been cordoned off really and tweaked slightly. The characters are already there too. But their addition is a great thing especially since it is free. I wish more companies would follow this. Sure you could make some money from DLC but you could potentially make much more money by creating more loyal fans.
way over a year after release, and still a DAMN fine game. a VERY damn fine game indeed. cannot WAIT for more information to slowly start filtering out about "what's next" ;) I know it's too early to get excited about it, but it's SO difficult not too
Time to shine those golden guns and cap-off a few headshots. some nice locations added to the shootouts
My #1 Game of All Time; I love this game. If they don't do another episodic DLC like Undead Nightmare, then they should make another Red Dead game. I Love Rockstar Games(that should be on a t-shirt).
@StaticKornSlipX Actually, I did that as well. The really crazy thing is that it wasn't so bad, but the pre-game bickering over settings got really really old. It was so bad in fact that setting up matches took longer than playing them. I'm pretty sure keeping auto-aim off was one of those sticking points.
@CptRexKramer The online is a blast, especially the co-op missions! Give it a try with a friend, you'll enjoy it.
Good to see! I remember back in the days of the original Xbox, it wasn't nothing to see free DLC appear, with games like Ghost Recon, and Ghost Recon Island Thunder offering free DLC. Now it is very rare. I'm glad to see it on this game especially. I have all the DLC for it and I've already beaten the single player, just now going through the Undead Nightmare campaign. Very well done game which will have no issues promoting a sequel.
I hope Rockstar makes another Red Dead game. I'd honestly rather have a Red Dead 3 than a Max Payne 3, Bully 2, or even GTAV.
This is awesome news. I started playing this again only 2 weeks ago so this is perfect timing for me. Sounds like they are wanting to build up the online users again ready for the goty release in september.
If i have some good time playin this i'll get undead nightmare, only if it has some discount and still includes those poker cards :D
I loved me some 'Red Dead', but could never get into the multiplayer portion of it. Might have to give it another go now that Rockstars been kind enough to release a little free DLC. Might kind of em' indeed.
@jamers Ah, a fellow gamer from the school of old. 8) I'm still pretty sour, but since everyone has such positive things to say I might look into trying it out again. I've learned though, it's evidently better to wait for some refinement before taking the plunge. I remember the Hardcore servers, and a lot of people dropping out of them all the time. The auto-aim thing was just ridiculous though. Ah well.
Free DLC is always a good thing. I'm glad Rockstar decided to treat us this way in return for the fan-appreciation. Looking forward to this and more.
Red Dead Redemption I love it and I always will thanks for aditional DLC. To bad it is not made for PC but love it any way.
Must be released on PC with all DLC's included graphics enhanced and map enlarged with 1 or 2 extra zones. There you go you have another 250.000 copies sold. Not worth it no ? Wait and see , they will get there !
