No Aerosmith on Rock Band 2? If I were Rock Band I would advertise that it definitely gives it an edge over Guitar Hero. I mean I guess people that like Aerosmith wouldn't like it.. what is there like 10 or 12 of them?
Newsweek reports that Steven Tyler and co.'s deal with Activision means that their tracks won't be coming to any other rhythm games.
Ever since Activision and Aerosmith confirmed the rumours that there was going to be an installment in the Guitar Hero franchise dedicated to the self-styled bad boys from Boston, questions have been asked about whether the deal extended beyond the scope of the game. A recent article by a US magazine indicates that the deal locks in Aerosmith to the Guitar Hero series for some time to come.
Newsweek reports, via its Level Up blog, that Aerosmith's publicist has confirmed that the deal is "exclusive...for this game." Activision's vice president of music affairs was then moved to extend this, explaining, "We do have the band exclusively, and their catalogue should be exclusive to us beyond the one or two tracks they had licensed out to Rock Band before we made our deal." To date, only one Aerosmith track, "Train Kept A Rollin'," has appeared in Rock Band, and even then only as a cover version.
It is likely that the success--or lack thereof--of this exclusive tie-up will have a significant bearing on any future deals of this nature. It has been suggested that The Beatles may feature, but nothing has been confirmed.
Those worried about never being able to sing along with Aerosmith in-game due to the lock-in should remember that Activision's chief executive, Bobby Kotick, recently confirmed that Neversoft was working hard on providing options for "a lot of other instruments [and] vocals" in future iterations of the franchise.
So the song list in the guitar hero aerosmith as far as i know walk this way rundmc what is rock run dmc love in the elevator sweet motion jaded dude looks like a lady thats far as i know.
aerosmith can do this. But guitar hero isn't a game that one game is going to be lastest in the series for like 2 years like rock band. Aerosmith will gain some fans and then lose them when guitar hero 4 and guitar hero 5 come out. I'm also disapointed they said that because i was kinda hoping for some aerosmith songs for rock band.
"Just wait for that contract to go up and boom: we'll be singing screechy and thumping out drum pad beats of Dream On in no time. Same goes for any other bands in the crossfire of Rockband vs Guitar Hero that do this. Just remember RE4 being a Gamecube "exclusive" and every other "exclusive" title before it." First, who really cares? If Guitar Hero feels like they need to do something this desperate to stay alive, who really cares? If everyone's just a rock band fanboy, then why does it matter what the other guys do? Just sit in your little cushion chair, pretending to be a real rockstar, and leave corporate politics out of your little world. On another note, Resident evil started out on the Playstation, so in the end, gamecube just got the leftovers
Aerosmith what are you THINKING!!!! Rock Band needs you more than a game thats falling off the charts. GH 3 was the worst GH of the seris come to Rock Band
I might weep with joy. Aerosmith is about as worn out as a prostitute's you-know-what. Plus no more game overlap. Hopefully companies won't follow suit and try to get exclusivity on any interesting bands.
Thank goodness. Guitar Hero can keep Aerosmith exclusively for themselves for all I care. I doubt a game devoted to them will surpass 'Rocks the 80's' . The franchise was never meant to single out one band above others as much as they seem to intend. Guitar Hero should be like a buffet of Rock. Being able to sample a diverse menu means not getting bored so easy. Who wants to eat Cheetos all day? Hmmm...bad example mebbe.
i feel like if u add in instruments, it just turns GH into a rock band clone, and idk if i want that. I personally didnt like GH3, i thought the whole "boss" thing was stupid, not to mention the butchering of devil went down to georgia to turn it into a metal riff. The beatles would work w/ rock band cause they dont have too many complicated riffs for guitar, but also it wouldn't be good to have it on rock band cause ringo starr was awful at the drums, oh well, i guess we will just have to wait and see
I appreciate both for different reasons. If I just want to "jam" alone give me GH, if I am having tons of friends over, then RB it is.
I just love you idiots who say Rock Band nailed it perfect and they only need one game and thats it. The damn game came out last year! Yeah of course there is only one game. programming for another is gonna take at least 2 years. Ya'll are stupid. GH and RB are different games. Quit comparing the 2 and just enjoy both. yall are idiots. I 100% guarantee a RB2 is coming. Its just a matter of when.
YAY!!!! This means I won't ever risk suffering through an Aerosmith song again on Rock Band!!! My friend like this band and said he would buy the songs if they ever come out for download......AND THEY WON'T!!!! JOY!!!! Down with AeroSmith!!!!
@ GoldenRamoth "and those extra notes GH adds? they're called ghosted notes, and they do exist, GH is just smart enough to add all the notes, not just the main ones. (unlike rockband)" Hell no. I'm a [real] guitar player, and a majority of players like to play using their ears to understand the placement of different notes in a song in order to learn a song and replicate it (since there are several ways to do it). Guitar Hero I and II used similar methods of using your ears as a guide for the next button presses, but those extra notes are wholly unnecessary and frusturating, even for those that actually have good musical background, basically defeat the purpose of why Guitar Hero was great in the first place.
Aerosmith is an awesome band, it's just too bad I'm not playing GH anymore. I won't be spending money on this. Rock Band is so much better, seriously.
I can deal with Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. But Guitar Hero: Beatles?!! Who is the target audience for this game? 50 and 60 year-olds?
*Calls Golden Ramoth* Hello. Band World Tour with TONS of replay and unlockables? Create a rocker? Stacking multipliers with bandmates? Good DLC? Album downloads? In game music store? 5 way switch? Big finishes? Having to "save" bandmates who fail in order to finish the song? I'd say there is a LOT of innovation there, especially compared to the differences between GH2 and GH3. Let's see... incredibly lame "boss battles", a versus mode that is dumb (break a string, beat on it to fix it? Nice.), and HORRIBLE note charting (to make it harder) with a larger margin of error (to make it easier). And just so you know, Harmonix stated with RB they were launching as a PLATFORM to be supported with DLC... since there is no NEED to release seperate games. And they are right... it's great without needing a thing, and they really don't need anything more... they nailed it.
"Who cares if Aerosmith only goes to Guitar Hero? Rock Band can do just fine without it. Plus Rock Band is great and won't depend on cheesy spin offs like Rocks the 80s and GH: Aerosmith. Harmonix is innovative. Neversoft is just getting sloppy seconds." How do you know that? there's only one Rockband game. Lol. you haven't seen enough games to judge that. and innovative? they haven't done much innovation they've done.. GH to other instruments. It's just the same game with different buttons. Call me when they do something completely different. lolz
are you effing serious? is neversoft actually planning on making games for other instruments? FOR SHAME!
Just wait for that contract to go up and boom: we'll be singing screechy and thumping out drum pad beats of Dream On in no time. Same goes for any other bands in the crossfire of Rockband vs Guitar Hero that do this. Just remember RE4 being a Gamecube "exclusive" and every other "exclusive" title before it.
This is only for the good. GH can have all of the Aerosmith, and RB can have the bands that doesn't suck.

+ No more Rock Band / Guitar Hero Overlap - Possible song hoarding by developers (ex. say GH gets Van Halen exclusivity. They release one or two of their hits per game, and load the rest with "Rocks the 80's" style filler.
seriously, who cares? This game will have a worse song selection than GH rocks the 80's which was terrible. Not wasting my money on this junk.
pleasurengineer Right... what were you smoking? If I have the money at the time, I'm definitely getting this game.
I for one... am happy. YAY. good band. (at least the old stuff) I dislike rock band. they completely destroy guitar. and those extra notes GH adds? they're called ghosted notes, and they do exist, GH is just smart enough to add all the notes, not just the main ones. (unlike rockband) So, GH gets aerosmith to itself? good. maybe they'll do that to other bands.
You guys are all missing the point. If this begins to be common-place in games then we all lose because buying one game means foregoing all the good songs on another game. Unless you are like me and choose to shell out for both games, but we can't all do that! Another scary example is Brazil without Ronaldo in the 2006 FIFA World cup game. What's next Pittsburgh without Sidne Crosby because 2K Sports locks him up? We need to send a clear message to Activision and the industry not to do this. I suggest not purchasing Guitar Hero - Aerosmith (as much as it pains me to say). Any way, judging from the comments below most of you don't seem to care about Aerosmith anyway.... Let's send the message.
ok....they won't be on any other rhythm game? that's no big deal. hopefully it won't be any more than $30...or i might reconsider...i do like aerosmith though.
SooooooooFFFFFF-INGWHATTTTTT! Aerosmith sucks. THe idea of an entire Aerosmith version of GH sux even harder. That would be like if EA bought the license to crap and announced that no other Football games would be crappy except Madden.
Harmonix has MTV backing them up. This won't hurt Rock Band at all. Sure Aerosmith is iconic, but their not the only band like that out there. They sold out for exclusivity, but they are getting their own game, so its good for their band. Especially at this point in their careers. I can see this as a problem in the future if Activision pursues more exclusives. I think that MTV has too many friends in the industry for Activision to be able to get away with it, though. If they start something like this, it could be a BIG problem for the Guitar Hero franchise in the future.
dose this mean only the songs used in GH aerosmith won't be used in other games or all of aersmiths songs? either way, areosmith won;t be missed by me, but if this trend countinues, it might cause problems in future rythm games...
Since there is only like two songs of Aerosmith's I actually like.....This doesn't hurt me much. I'm only getting the bundle because I need a 2nd guitar anyways for my wii.... And I love Rockband 100 times more than GH and why listen to Deathcab when I have the better Who song, the same Metallica and then some, Judas Priest, etc....
I hate iPod-like music deal in PSN or XLN where you can buy music for your game. If I saw any freebie download of GHIII, thats the one for me. d@@b
This is getting out of hand. I buy Guitar hero III because its a guitar game and also that you can played it solo. If you want any other instruments to go with the guitar, ditch GHIII and get Rock Band. =( d@@b
I was really hoping to play Aerosmith in Rock Band at some point. Hopefully GH will add support for vocals before it comes out.
I've always thought Aerosmith was over-rated, old stuff and new stuff (except for Dream On, which I love) so I don't really care about this one bit. I just hope good bands don't have the same problem happening.
Screw you Activision. Screw you corporate world. For profits, these stupid companies are trying to limit the fun the mass public can have. We all love at least some Aerosmith songs. Why shouldn't those who shelled out $200 on Rock Band be able to sing and play "Love in an Elevator", "Dude Looks Like a Lady" or Dream On". Activision, you are only encouraging the underground to take over and come up with illegitimate ways of getting the songs we all want. Rights, to songs have got to go. They ought to belong the the band and no one else. This is probably why we get crappy cover versions of songs on Rock Band. You excitedly download Iron Maiden's Number of the Beast and then hear the vocals get mangled by an amateur immitator. Tasteless! While I'm venting, shame on you Activision for not allowing Rock Band's guitar to play your game. It would've been nice if owners of both RB and GH3 could play some head-to-games on GH3 instead of having to shell out another $100 on a GH3 guitar. EA, your competition had the forsight and benevolance of being compatible with your guitar. I love commercialism and capitalism but this nonsense is capitalism rearing it's ugly head. My two cents!
i like aerosmith but i have a feeling this game is gonna suck and im expert at guitar hero i am buying rockband when it comes out on the wii and probly wont ever buy this game just doesnt seem worth it
