What-ev. Get er done! If it takes more time that first conceptualized, then it makes them like most game development. A delay won't hurt if the game is good. This game has a following just get it made.
Publisher said to hire former BottleRocket employees to complete work on survival horror beat-'em-up.
It appeared as if the final word had been delivered concerning Namco Bandai's dispute with BottleRocket Entertainment. In February, Namco Bandai confirmed reports that it had pulled the California developer from development duties on the survival horror beat-'em-up Splatterhouse. A month later, the publisher explained that the move was the result of "performance issues," a claim BottleRocket took strong objection to.
Today, however, a new wrinkle in the apparently ongoing dispute has emerged. Variety reports that Namco Bandai has staffed a new studio in San Diego with between 10 and 20 staff members previously employed by BottleRocket. Namco Bandai had not responded to requests for comment as of press time.
According to Variety's sources, the group comprises designers, artists, programmers, and producers and has been tasked with completing Splatterhouse. Previously, development duties on the project were said to have been shifted to the team behind Afro Samurai. However, development difficulties related to the switch reportedly necessitated the BottleRocket hires.
Splatterhouse is expected to arrive for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later this year. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
this is a very confusing path for a development to go on a game. makes you wonder if they are getting close to call it quits. I personally dont know anything about the game other than it looks different and hopefully that leads to a good game but who knows.
What the **** is going on with this game? Admittedly I'd love to play a new Splatterhouse, but what I've seen in trailers looked pretty lousy. There was nothing new abou tit, which isn't really a negative, but it looked so rough. Like, really rough. Not just graphically, it looked like a shoddy game. I don't know how much has changed since this trailer, but hopefully it will be muh better when it actually hits. I have my doubts, so I'll wat on reviews to determine my actions with the game.
I never said it was going to be a bad game. All I said is that I want to play the god damn game now. It's part of the reason why I bought a PS3 (and MGS4). They could have had it to me by now, and their are just being dicks. First they make me wait 15+ god damn years for a new one, and now they are dicking me around with the new one like dangling it in my face then pulling it away like a bully in a school yard. How many crappy Pac Man spinoffs, Tekken games, Soul Caliburs and all that other crap they shoved out the door for years have I had to endure, just for a new Splatterhouse? Too Many. Get the god damn game done Namco, stop being a bully.
lol I looked at this wrong thinking it was tekken 6, I was like WHOA its gonna be a gorey fighting game! SWEET! lol then I seen the pic and was like...darn...
I'm hoping Namco didn't totally mess this up. I really was excited for a new Splatterhouse but it sounds like there having trouble finishing up the game. I do want to point out that the Afro Samurai was definitely nothing special, and all it was was a lesser copy of Ninja Gaiden.
I wont be buying this game tho,it has to have a multiplayer/For some reason, since I got XBL I havent been able to finish single player games.Besides Fallout 3 and I never finished battlefield bad company and had that since it first came out lol.
having said that (below) this game looks crap. it sounds like namco is trying it's best to polish off a turd. here's what i think you should do: 1. release the og splatterhouse (updated graphics, optional but a nice touch) on xbl, to hold us over for a bit- then 2. scap this crappy reboot & give us something long time fans deserve. not some wannabe hulk, prince of persia, god of war, crapola!!
Sounds like a bait and switch if you ask me. Maybe just maybe, Bottlerocket had gotten itself into some financial trouble, couldn't pay it's bills and this is really just a way to screw their creditors out of money. This was probably the plan all along when Bottlerocket told Namco "Hey, our offices are about to be closed because we spent all our money riding Shamu at Seaworld" so Namco said "Hey, we gave you the money, you owe us the product". So some smart guys had some Sake and came up with this more than brilliant idea and now Bottlerocket employees still have a paycheck and the creditors that Bottlerocket screwed over can go to Obama and get a bailout. What's gonna be hilarious, is if Splatterhouse just flat out sucks.
Well, god damn it Namco, I could have already been playing Splatterhouse if you hadn't been dicks and moved it, then the new team can't handle it so they bring in the same guys they fired. Christ Namco, I HAVE WAITED 15+ years for a new Splatterhouse and your dicking me around as usual. It better come out or they will be allot of anger and you won't ike me when I am angry.
Namco-Bandai has a lot of very talented developers and creative minds on their staff. I think this is a good move, I'm interested in seeing more on this game.
I would have liked to see it go the more realistic direction like a resident evil type mansion but all action with tons of monsters, the ability to slam tables and chairs on monsters, tackling monsters into wall as well as hitting them against it with your 2x4,jumping threw windows to tackle monsters, choking monsters then slamming them on the ground so you can get on them an punch them to oblivion *like in gears 2* and all that kind of stuff. Just a serious beat'em up type game.
Well, I suppose Zelda's successful transition from 2D to 3D is far more the exception than the rule.
some 2D classics such as Splatterhouse are better off still in 2D.. look what happened to Golden Axe brought into 3D.. such travesty.. but you can't blame the developers if they want the said games to be brought back from the depths of gaming history into the current gen consoles & introduce the series to today's gamers
When i was eight i thought slaughterhouse on the Sega genesis was the most creepiest and yet Fun 2D horror game Ever but After seeing that trailer it looks as if it will end up being a bunch of stolen ideas crammed into a button smasher and i was looking forward to this an old child memory brought back to Life.
As much as I love the franchise and as much as I want to see a new entry soon.. I really wish they would scrap the project and start from scratch with a more capable team if they "truly" feel Bottlerocket's issues were performance related. But then again.. even with these two entities butting heads.. dropping a project with so much already invested in it is apparently not an option in today's economy..
