Resident Evil 6 preorders can get Umbrella umbrella
Capcom enticing customers to buy direct from its online store with iconic red-and-white parasol of survival horror series' nefarious corporation.
Resident Evil players have spent decades trying to bring the evil Umbrella corporation down and expose its sinister secrets, but now they can help promote the brand as well. Capcom today announced that preorders for Resident Evil 6 placed through its online storefront will receive a free umbrella decorated with the familiar red-and-white Umbrella logo.
Set for release October 2, Resident Evil 6 will take place across the US, Eastern Europe, and China, and stars series stalwarts Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield, plus cynical mercenary Jake Muller, son of one Albert Wesker. As for multiplayer, the game will take a page from titles like Journey and Demon's Souls, featuring a more subtle form of multiplayer woven into the single-player mode.
Capcom expects the game to be the best-selling title in company history, projecting the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC game to sell 7 million copies worldwide. Currently, Capcom's best-selling title of all time is the Super Nintendo edition of Street Fighter II, which sold 6.3 million copies. The last main entry in the survival horror series, 2009's Resident Evil 5, sold 5.8 million units worldwide, good enough to be the company's second-best-selling game to date.
