Respawn's first game due by March 2013 - Report
Marketing calendar indicates EA Partners' fiscal 2013 filled with Respawn's first game, Overstrike, Outnernauts, and a new Populous title.
EA Partners will release Respawn Entertainment's first game, as well as two other previously unannounced titles, by March 2013, according to a purportedly leaked internal marketing calendar.
French gaming site Hardgamers reported it discovered an EA Partners marketing calendar for the April 2012-March 2013 period that included mention of Respawn, The Secret World, Overstrike, Outernauts, and Populous. The release calendar indicated all titles were to be released by March 2013.
As for the titles on the sheet, The Secret World's inclusion falls in line with the game's already announced April release date. That title is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game presently in development at Funcom and set for release on the PC.
The rest of the games on the list, on the other hand, previously either did not have a release window attached to them or were not known to exist at all.
Most notable is the debut title from Respawn Entertainment, the studio formed by a flurry of former Call of Duty developers. Outside of a blurry screenshot, details are nearly nonexistent concerning Respawn's first game. However, it is rumored to be a science-fiction first-person shooter that might support 3D.
Also included on the marketing calendar, according to the website, was Overstrike, Insomniac Games' squad-based stylized multiplatform shooter, which was announced at the 2011 Electronic Entertainment Expo without a release window.
Additionally, the website is reporting that the calendar included mention of a game called Outernauts, a title that EA has not formally announced and one that has ties to Insomniac. On January 28, the Santa Monica, California-based game developer filed a trademark with the United States Patent & Trademark Office covering use of the term "Outernauts" in video games.
As for the mention of Populous on the release calendar, the real-time strategy series has laid dormant since 2007's Populous DS. No additional information concerning the title was made available.
As of press time, EA had not responded to GameSpot's request for comment on the matter.
@Gelugon_baat I think i did a fairly good job, and the thumbs would agree lol, but who cares right? according to you, people who click on thumbs rather than typing "i agree" and pressing enter are lazy. That thought of yours alone is as Illogical as it gets xD
@bigcrusha
I think anyone would argee that you are the last person on this entire site who could address my or anyone else's "habbits"
And you think that you can do a better job addressing others'? :roll:
@glassesboy I just like being amused. :P That said, you helped me discover this page. ;)
@Gelugon_baat Interpret what Gelugon? You just admitted to me and everyone reading these that you like to prowl comment sections for "entertainment". How should I interpret it? You tell me? Bad light? I didn't buy the lamp or the bulb.You did..... Oh as for my "habbits" on ranting. I think anyone would argee that you are the last person on this entire site who could address my or anyone else's "habbits"
@Rocker6 Sorry, my mistake :P glad its comes out on PC. I read it somewhere, and I just can't remember it :roll: thnks for the help :D
Well so long as it turns out to be a great game, its all good.
@Ladiesman17 Where did you get the idea of the game not being on PC? Notice how when you click at the "Related game" tab above,PC is listed among platforms for "Unannouced Respawn Ent.Game)
I'm hoping for a teaser at E3.
@Gelugon_baat Why are you always arguing with people? People are entitled to their opinion, and while you are too, sometimes it's better to leave people with theirs! You're always getting thumbed down...and it's for a reason. Chill out keyboard nord.
Respawn's upcoming title is FPS right?? and also it's not coming to PC?? If FPS is not released on PC = It's a FAIL game :P If it's tactical shooter like Rainbow Six / Gears of war, maybe It's gonna work with gamepad controller, but if it's fast-paced FPS like Battlefield then It's best with m/k, unless it's other genre though :roll: curious!! but if it's not on PC im certainly not interested, im done with this gen (Xbox 360/PS3) I'll wait for another train for next gen.. ;)
Re spawn the C&C 4 title.
POPULOUS!!!! I hope it's good...
Call of the Battlefield: modern aliens?
Populous :o
That wasn't a blurry shot. It was CLEARLY for marketing purposes. To keep Respawn in the limelight.
a populous game? this could be good........emphasis on 'could be'
I think EA gives there devs more freedom then activision does not a whole lot more (look at the c&c series) i have not played a activision game in who knows how long. i hope respawn makes a great game and i hope they make alot of great games. i would like activision games too if they where good (from my point of view). i know its hard to make a new ip in this economy and all and devs and publishers both need to make money so they can eat but big companys like EA and activision have ALOT of money i think they can risk a little to maybe win big just a thought.
I'm interested in what this will be. I'm thinking it's gonna be something post-apocalyptic, based on those blurry images they've been releasing.
@ Gelugon_baat Firstly, let me explain that it comes as to no surprise to me that you're aware of the Respawn guys work history and gaming legacy. I did not make mention of their experience in order to educate you, but simply to explain the reasons as to why I, and why I feel others, are interested in Respawn. Yes I am interested in Respawn because I hope, and expect, that whatever game they make next will be a very good game indeed, even if it isn't as revolutionary as MW has been. I am interested in Respawn in the same way I am interested in other developers that have made games that I like / love. Platinum Games, Naughty Dog have my full attention. As far as I can accept that you don't believe Respawn can repeat their previous excemplary work, I do feel that you ought to explain your reasonings, for it seems perfectly sensible to me to expect that those with a good track record will continue to produce good work. This appears to me to be a trend that relates throughout society. I can't say that I have read other peoples comments stating that they will buy Respawns game just to spit in the eye of Activision, I have better things to do with my time, and would hope that they have better things to do with theirs. I was simply stating the reasons as to why I feel that Respawn deserves attention and interest.
@ADDADAC
I have better things to do than argue with some lonely person who just trolls gamespot all day.
Well, you did come back to this page anyway. :P
@bigcrusha Heh, interpret others' posts in whatever way you like that paints them in a bad light, dude. Sure is a habit for you. :P
looking forward to whatever they put out. the old IW people really did a great job on CoD until it was taken away from them by activision. if they put that kind of work into a new game, i don't care what genre it is, it should be great.
Well, it looks like I finally have a E3 to look forward to, what with Respawn's project and a few other things I'm geeking about. Interest is peaking.
@ADDADAC I don't seek you or others to care or agree,Im only expressing my opinion and don't think much of the response I'll get,but since many,including you replied,it seems you care after all :P
@Gelugon_baat that's ok because I somewhat enjoy CoD and think that the people complain about "OMG!!!! ALLL NEW GAMES ARE FFFFPPPSSS! COD SUCKSSS!!!!" are more sheep like than the people who buy CoD. No need to respond though, because I wont care. I have better things to do than argue with some lonely person who just trolls gamespot all day.
@Rocker6 Im sorry but i think people dont really care about youre opinion
Well that's better then that 2016 or whenever game announcement they had last year.
I wonder, Sci-Fi first person shooter? could valve pass the tourch of half life 3 to respawn? if you look at the blurred out pictures they look like they could possibly be a halflife setting. I honestly hope valve will remain the maker of the halflife series, but its been 7+ years since hl2. I just want more halflife!
Let me guess, a new First Person Shooter Title is coming?
@Gelugon_baat Hmm, so basically you're telling me that your blogspot contains logic that gives you the undeniable right to blatantly disrespect the gamespot community for some questionable "hobby"? As for your point, that says alot coming from you, see I haven't developed a legion of haters like you have, nor have I trolled every article i can find for "entertainment", Assuming you know my history, then you would know I don't post too often, your habbits make mine seem like a grain of sand. Do you really think you have a valid point comparing my habbits to yours?
@bigcrusha I wouldn't have to elaborate if you have actually read my blog post from top to bottom. :? That said, for your "first" rant (assuming your b****ing about "sheep" who like Call of Duty doesn't count :roll: ), you sure rant rather a lot.
@Gelugon_baat Huh? look who's talking? Please elaborate.... While your at it, what do you have to say about my other points such as: you nit picking and odd obsessions for arguing in forums? Your reply to Spartan_418 was also void of logic and elaboration, he never asked you if it was deliberate, he asked you to stop and told you why you should, I'm beginning to even wonder whether you even read the comments you reply to or not. By the way, its the first time in history I've ever ranted about a fellow user. I'm trying to determine whether you truly think you're clever when you reply?
As much as I love these guys... I was really hoping for a non first person shooter game :-/
EA Is Lovely :D|
Not Medal of Honor, nor Battlefield 3 have succeded in beating Call of Duty, both in sales and overall game quality. With Respawn's newest creation, I've no doubt that CoD will finally meet its match. Just like MoH when West and Zampella created CoD. History will repeat itself.
@bigcrusha
... nit picking through a statement for things you like rather than adressing the main point itself basically voids your reply of logic, which is why the larger majority of people who read your comments mock you.
To which I would say: "Look who's talking."
That said, you sure rant a lot about other people. :P
@Spartan_418 Haven't you considered that my use of smileys may be deliberate? :roll:
@Gelugon_baat Now every time I see one of your comments on an article, it's going to be met with: "@Gelugon_baat no, and you are wasting your time." Also, please do yourself a favor and refrain from using the eye-rolling and winking emoticons quite so frequently. They make your writing sound pretentious and condescending.
im super serial....
GUYS GUYS!!!! I THINK I KNOW WHAT THE GAME IS ABOUT!!!! go to http://www.respawn.com/games/ and look at the blurry picture... u can point out people on bottom of screen aiming at that huge thing in the middle of screen.. the game might be about invasion on planet earth or its in the future and the koreans have advanced weaponry and the americans are gonna try and kill em all!!!! CANT WAIT FOR 2013!!!!!!!!
@Gelugon_baat That's what I'm attempting to explain to you, Entertain?!!! The fact that you gain euphoric pleasure from fighting people in forums is borderline OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE!! It's a disturbing hobby simply put.
@Gelugon_baat Ok this brings me to another point Gelugon, the should know that nit picking through a statement for things you like rather than adressing the main point itself basically voids your reply of logic, which is why the larger majority of people who read your comments mock you.
Respawn's first game: A sci-fi first persion shoot that might support 3D, and the most powerful weapon in the game will be a knife with superpower melee perks. JOY.
@bigcrusha
That's when you need to STOP, GET UP, FIND THE NEAREST DOOR and GO OUTSIDE!
I already do, physically speaking! ;)
Of course, if you are saying the above in a figurative sense that I should leave GameSpot, then my answer is "no", followed by "you are wasting your time."
If you are suggesting that I should empathize more with that other person's stance, as I suppose so because you are conveniently quoting that section of my blog, then I would say this:
.
@bigcrusha
I know you said previously that you ignore the thumbs system but they are there for a reason, they filter outlandish nonsense. Or even to discredit dribble from people who attempt to act alot smarter than they really are.
You see the thumb tallies that way, I see them as something the lazy resort to instead of making an actual reply.
I have told that to someone else in a publicly viewable comment. Perhaps you should have read that too.
DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW SAD THAT IS??? DO YOU?
I am not really looking for arguments - rather I am looking for any statement that I find amusing and I would like to reply to, because that may result in an amusing response. :P
So no, I don't think that's sad. It entertains me rather.
And people who can't take a different opinion without ranting and raging entertain me the most. :D
@MrDouglas
Hope the new Populous isn't a first-person shooter!
More likely it will turn out like a Sims game - only with clueless tribals instead of clueless Sims. ;)
@Gelugon_baat I know you said previously that you ignore the thumbs system but they are there for a reason, they filter outlandish nonsense. Or even to discredit dribble from people who attempt to act alot smarter than they really are. Gamespot is a community, you CONTRIBUTE content in a community, which I congratulate you for because your page shows just that. As for commenting, rather than stating an opinion, instead you make a hobby off of patrolling the forums for an easy argument to win. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW SAD THAT IS??? DO YOU? You've only managed to turn the community against you, that's no longer a contribution I'm sorry to say. Honestly your passion for video games is awe inspiring and admirable, forgive me if I reference section 3. of your blog : "Do get the gist of what the user is trying to get across" My point is, you need a new hobby, you're only adding fuel to the fire you try so valiantly to extiguish. You might wanna re-read section 3. through 11 of your blog because I think you've lost sight of it. I remember crediting you for it but it seems like it's become more of an obsession to you.. That's when you need to STOP, GET UP, FIND THE NEAREST DOOR and GO OUTSIDE!
There are two possible outcomes to this: The first is that Respawn comes out with a completely original game with original mechanics, a lengthy campaign, and a great story. The second is that EA puts this up against Black Ops 2 or whatever COD is coming out next year, and it's MW3 vs BF3 all over again, along with a short campaign and an over emphasis on multiplayer. I'm pretty sure we all know which of those two it will be.
Hopefully they are making a My Little Pony game. I would really like that because, you know, I'm weird.
So Respawn forms, the guys get together and say "You know what the world needs right now? Another first person shooter! Yeah!" Brilliant thinking right there.
