Retail Radar: Dark Messiah on 360, Sims 2: Celebration Stuff
CD Universe opens up preorders for a console version of Ubisoft's Might and Magic-based PC first-person action game and a new add-on for EA's virtual life series.
The Might and Magic franchise has not been seen on consoles since before its previous publisher 3DO went bankrupt, but it appears current rights-holder Ubisoft could be planning to bring the swords-and-sorcery series back to the living room.
A product listing has appeared on CD Universe for an Xbox 360 edition of Ubisoft's Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. The second game in the franchise released by the publisher after Heroes of Might and Magic V, Dark Messiah is a first-person shooter that leans away from the series' role-playing roots.
On the other end of the spectrum (but still found in a CD Universe listing) is The Sims 2: Celebration Stuff. No details about the game are given, but with a retail price under $20 and considering the series' naming conventions, the add-on would likely be a gathering of new items along the lines of Holiday Fun Stuff, instead of a full-blown expansion pack with new features like The Sims 2: Pets.
Please note, while retailer listings frequently jump the gun on publishers' product announcements, they should not be taken as final confirmation of a game's existence; nor should the absence of a listing be considered as proof that a game isn't coming to a given platform.
The CD Universe web page is now sayiing its a September 6th 2007 release date, not May 1st.
Do you think the release date is accurate? I cant find any other information regarding the 360 version of DM!
yeah dark messiah is pretty awsome.... i played the demo back in its younger days prior to release. i loved it but didnt purchase the full version due to fear that my PC would not handle the game. it certainly couldn't hanlde the demo and with this said i will FINALLY enjoy it on my 360
I have high expectations for this game. The DM for pc was very demanding of computers. Pretty soon, we will be able to play it with hardly any lag on the powerful 360. The gameplay is sure to surpass Oblivion's. It seems like gamespot downgrades a lot of the funner games. And they concentrate on storyline and graphics. Definitely buying this game when it comes out. The pc version was fantastic.
Although dark messiah may be cool, I doubt it will out shine ES4 Oblivion. But really it depends on what your looking for. DarkM - action RPG and Oblivion - true RPG. Any clue's on price?
360 owners listen .. DArk Messiah its just perfect for a game it is very well made especially in the fighting system ... yes the story is prety predictible but the characters are well made so don't listen to the gamespot review because its not true on all the other sites the game was rated 8 + so enjoy !!! I have finished 3 times on PC Worrior / Assassin / Mage style :D each one is fun in its own way !!!
Very good!! I agree competely with mark2099
another game NOT coming out for PS3 is always welcome
sounds like fun, might actually buy that game now, maybe
That's pretty cool.. I remember before DM came out on PC I was praying that they would do a 360 version; but when it got mediocre reviews I sort of lost interest. But I'll possibly rent this if it does come out on 360.
makemeweak said: Well, I'm glad Dark Messiah is coming to the 360, because now I can rent it. I concur.
I was thinking about how great it would be to have this on 360 yesterday.
I think DM was a great game. As an earlier posted said, I never had any of the bugs either and I think it got a bum review. In fact, I'm still playing it right now, they patched the hell out of it so far so it should be ready to go. I think this game will play well on the 360, as the controls are very similar to Oblivion(Not nearly as good though). i.e. swords, daggers, bows, staffs, magic, and all that good stuff.
The PC version sucked.
Well, I'm glad Dark Messiah is coming to the 360, because now I can rent it.
I'll wait for the reviews. Hope it can stand up to Oblivion.
not another SIM 2 expansion pack and Dark Messiah wasnt that good anyway
Dark Messiah was a decent game, but in all honesty if you have Oblivion already then you may just want to have Dark Messiah as a rental.
cool!
woah cool DM on 360 is awesome!
Dark Messiah is a game I just might give a try.
dark messiah might be pretty fun
Sweet! Dark Messiah on the 360 is good. It's the best PC game imo in 2006 (Obivion is boring).
Wow, two crappy little pieces of software come to consoles. This is news, WHY?
I dont know if dark messiah is going to do so hot on the 360
Xbox 360 has enough good FPS franchises. I don't need another also-ran addition to the this console.
I'll just keep playing Messiah on the PC.
cool cant wait as long as they fix the pc games bugs, Me personally barely had issues but one of my friends had hell with that game
sweet cant wait for DM on 360 i loved on pc, but i couldnt run it max settings
I heard it was a cool, but buggy game, I'll have to wait and see how it goes.
I don't know how to feel about Dark Messiah on the 360. I was looking forward to it on the PC, but then it became a kick-a-thon. I guess wait for some reviews.
Dark Messiah was quite possibily the most disappointing games of 2006. I hope that Ubisoft fixes the problems that plagued the PC version before they release it on the 360. ========================= Gimme a break. It's a really solid game. It just launched in rough technical shape, and people had totally moronic expectations for the game, like it would be an Oblivion killer or something. It's not even the same genre. Not the same type of game at all. Dark Messiah is like a first person shooter with fantasy assets and it plays that way.
dark messiah on the 360 not bad but hope it has less bugs .
lets hope messiah has no bugs
fine with me i got 360 and ps3 best of BOTH worlds pwnd fanboy
another 360 game that wont be on the ps3
Interesting....
Dark Messiah was a good game and a shaky launch gave it a bad name. That's people for you, though. Not willing to wait a week longer to enjoy a great game.
Sheesh. More Sims shovelware so that EA can make money to cover their losses for all the garbage they put out.
They better do some "real magic" with Dark Messiah on the 360 or I smell even lower scores than the PC version
They better fix the performance issues. It shouldn't be a problem on consoles, the hardware is standardized. You only have one level to optimize for.
Dark Messiah was quite possibily the most disappointing games of 2006. I hope that Ubisoft fixes the problems that plagued the PC version before they release it on the 360.
Dark Messiah was bad only because I couldn't even get to run on the PC. It kept on crashing. I hope that is not the case for the 360 version.
Wow, Dark Messiah blows,..should gave the 360 HoMMV instead at least it was good.
not really a surprise, it has been known for like a year already. Arkane mistakingly listed it was looking for X360 developer for Dark Messiah last year, but then quickly removed the job application, but it was noticed either way. Still, might be a good title for the Xbox 360, as long as they make sure all the bugs are fixed ...
If it runs smoothly on the 360, I'd probably play Dark Messiah.
Dark Messiah was a really good game considering the circumstances with all kinds of people having problems with it. I never had a single issue and don't think it was fair that it's review was tainted by performance issues that didn't hit everyone. I hope that it finally gets the recognition it deserves on the 360.
Dark Messiah was ok, I could see it translating pretty well as a console game. That's what it really reminded me of in the first place.
I thoroughly enjoyed the PC demo but was disheartened by the review. Still, if you throw points into the deal it may well be worth a rental.
Why do all of the games with the hype come out on the Xbox 360?
