Rockstar shoots down GTAV delay conspiracy theories

Developer says such theories are "all nonsense," there were no ulterior motives for four-month delay.
Rockstar Games has shot down conspiracy theories related to Grand Theft Auto V's recent four-month delay. Writing on the company's website, Rockstar said GTAV's delay from spring to September was for quality purposes and nothing else.
"To those of you saying or seeing various conspiracy theories about there being some other ulterior motive for this delay, rest assured that they’re all nonsense," the company said. "Literally the only reason we’ve delayed the release is because we want the game to be as good as it needs to be."
Shares of Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two Interactive and specialty retailer GameStop tumbled following GTAV's delay last week. The companies have since rebounded.
In addition, Rockstar confirmed that GTAV's official box art will be revealed "a bit later." The box art was previously slated to debut in January.
GTAV is due out September 17, 2013 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Wii U and PC versions are "up for consideration," according to Rockstar Games cofounder Dan Houser.

Conspiracy theories being nonsense? No way!
As if conspiracy theories, no matter how absurd they may be, ever stopped people from making them and continuing to believe and try to make others believe them.

yep same engine. look for the leaked gameplay. its the same, the running everything. so meh. they'll keep delaying this game..
Im not really excited about this game. Are they using the same engine as gta4? That engine is just so old, not only the graphics, but the gameplay will be affected by this old dumb engine.

1 Like I am happy about the next installment in the franchise. Delays happen. I am not thrilled about it but what can you do. However, I will say that anyone coming up with conspiracy theories needs to get laid.
Seriously, I am disappointed. At least I suffer with others. More time to put a fair $ aside for the special edition releases, but there goes my starting semester. Fluff!
Can anyone enlighten me as to what these conspiracy theories are? I can't think of how a conspiracy theory could be related to a game.

I don't know if anyone noticed this but Rockstar delayed the release of every GTA game since vice city. So this was to be expected and i don't complain. Rockstars people are perfectionists... the quality of the game can only increase.

1 Like I still think they'd be smart to wait for next gen as long as it isn't too far off. The new systems are really going to bring a massive change to what's possible on consoles. GTA V could really benefit from that. Of course if it ends up being mid to late 2014 before those come out then I don't see them waiting. If' it ends up being late this year they should wait or at the very least announce a high grade version for the new systems.

7 Like For PC gamers (as me) you should've already known this is Rockstar's policy in selling GTAs.
They do not confirm a PC version in their latest games, they just say "we'll think about it", to get as more sales as possible for the consoles first. Some months later, the PC version is announced. So the incomes of the PC sales is a "bonus" for them.
Rockstar's a genius company in this.

1 Like @Chaos_1990 @itchyflop I doubt that you can call "bonus" ~1/2 of a games income. as for "up for consideration" is pretty obvious. they hint as it is feasible. unlike RDR where they said from the get-go that it is unlikely. either way, i am not going to preorder this game. they play a lousy and unfair game of cat and mouse. i will wait for the reviews.

@relapse_the_og Here in Europe there are also mass murderers and guns are ilegal. The only difference here is that the goverment doesn't point fingers to the media but instead study the psychology of the criminal. The same happens in China but most videogames are banned. So i agree. People will keep killing people, the only diffrence between now and the past is that the news covers a lot more of them so it can't be ignored.

@so_hai I'm not sure where you're from, but in the U.S. lately there have been quite a few mass shootings by crazy people. Kind of started with a shooting in a movie theatre during a showing of the latest Batman movie, and several innocents were killed. The guy just wen into the theatre armed with assault rifles and pistols. Then there was another one in a Mall in one of the Northern states I can't remember which. The latest one was just over the Christmas Holiday here in America, when another crazy "nut" went into an elementary school and killed several children no more than 6 and 7 years of age. In my opinion it really has nothing to do with violent video games. These people were very disturbed or just heartless I'm not sure which.
