Wow, way to make a guy feel like I did the right thing by buying that seasons pass bull$#!T. Really? And I suppose even though we aren't getting an expansion, they might instead give seasons pass holders free access to the most recent (I'll be it, small) add on-s then, or all of them, jeese. SOMETHING FOR MY EXTRA $20! PLS...
Saints Row: The Third - Enter the Dominatrix stand-alone expansion scrapped, to be rolled into Saints Row 4.
Saints Row publisher THQ has announced that Enter The Dominatrix will no longer be released as an expansion for Saints Row: The Third. The expansion, announced in May, will instead be incorporated into the next full game in the Saints Row series, due in 2013.
Newly appointed THQ president Jason Rubin says Volition's ambitions for the project made it better suited for Saints Row 4 ("a full-priced, full-length, high quality, connected experience") than for a stand-alone expansion to the last game, released in November 2011.
Rolling the expansion into the next full sequel may help development of Saints Row 4 along, but the move also pushes resulting sales from THQ's 2013 fiscal year into its 2014 fiscal year. The firm estimates this will mean taking a $20 million hit in net sales this financial year.
Enter The Dominatrix would have been Saints Row: The Third's first stand-alone expansion, following multiple smaller downloadable content packs. It was set to follow on from the events of the main game with an alien abduction plot and the addition of superpowers.
Last I heard they were going to do something with "superpowers" in this one. If so I can wait for them to reconfigure things into a full new game. I just wish the series would put as much thought into serious customization as they do fitting in as many innuendos as possible.
haha nice. instead of paying 800 or so MS points for it, we now get to pay 45 quid (or a bazillion dollars) for a brand new game.
I played both GTA4 and SR3, they were both great games with different feels to them. So SR4 will be a definite buy, as will 5
If it's gonna be "assimilated" into SR4, why still announce it as a stand-alone on the news ticker in the main screen?
why would they cancel it saints row is suposed to be a bunch of random stuff why not put alien stuff in it
@Straperry Actually in SR2, you can actually have a sip of coffee and get rewarded. Though only audios. Won't tell you how.
Saints Row 3 was fun but after beating the quest and completing the game there was nothing else to do.
So I modded and ran around nude infront of a friend for hours, stole a car, then dildo smacked pedestrians
Actually SR3 is fun, but after a while it loses appeal quickly, cause jumping of an helicopter first time is awesome , jumping of a fighter jet for billion's of time and still getting the jet with no cost id starting to feel dull. Story is somewhat shallow and sometimes to simple and straight forward. But hell, its a game for hell fun non stop carnage, which of played like once for 1/2 weeks can keeps the game form being soured, still fun to run around naked :P
look like the new boss of THQ may the best move ever 4 its future. thank god. hope 4 the best. saints 4 life.
I stopped liking Saints Row games after the first one. The first was great, imo. But 2 & 3 were just too stupid and too far off the reservation for my taste. When you make a game with so much ridiculousness, it's better suited as a brief time waster than an engaging game that you want to play for hours.
Saint's Row 3 was fun at first but it lost it's spark after I beat game. SR2 was perfect though. I don't know why they had to go for a "The Saint's have it all so get rid of street gangs and make them take on corporate giants" approach. Thinking back to it now, I hated how much the series was ruined. It turned into an Adult Swim show.
wow great something to hold us over till 4 is now part of 4 which may not even happen seems how thq is sinking good call tards.
Why you people don't want to understand the different between GTA series and Saint Row series ?
GTA is action serous.
SR is unlimited FUN.
And u people will play the both.
THQ here's a tip to help you keep from going bankrupt don't make another Saints Row. Rockstar Games are the masters of Open World sandbox games and probably crush SR4 cause you just know GTA5 is going to be EPIC like every R* game. Although SR3 was a huge improvement over SR2.
@bushisprez SR3 was a huge improvement over SR2 because SR2 is crap like hell. Its PC port made me laugh.
@bushisprez I held off buying SR3 because of all the negative press it got, such as too short a story and too much DLC that should have been incorporated into the main game for free. But when the Steam sale was offering it for a huge discount, I bought it with the season pass DLC pack.
Having played through to the end, I can only speak highly of the game.
Primarily, the story and characters were hilarious. No game has had me laughing so hard for so long. Maybe it's just my taste in a more adult humor, but I loved it!
Secondly, the graphics might be a bit simplistic compared to GTAIV (which I also love), but they also run about 10 times faster, which adds to the fluidity of gameplay (racing about and frantically shooting things). People might harp on about GTAIV being more realistic and better looking, but let's not forget how many people also bitched and whined because they couldn't get a decent framerate. (and I'm using a N580GTX Lightning on a Hex Core system, in case anyone wants to accuse me of having a crappy PC). SR3's gfx are nothing to complain about and in some ways surpass GTAIV's (even the ENB series mod). albeit a little less realistically.
Suffice it to say, I am really looking forward to Saints Row 4. If it carries on the tradition of crazy adult humor and fluid gameplay, it's going to be a winner in my book...
@bushisprez and watch dogs will rape gta5 in terms of realsim-characters and ofc story,it wont sell better but wil lbe better in every single other aspects
@Albaficas watchdogs won't even be out this generation, it's going to be on next gen consoles so it will be competing with GTA6 and RDR2 good luck. Though I hope it is good Rockstar is King.
@Albaficas I doubt all of what you just said very highly. Watch Dogs looks good, but I doubt it will be as revolutionary as GTA V. Every game R* releases turns into gold. The GTAs always end up being the goldmine. I recall GTA IV getting perfect reviews from sites, as well as from users. GTA V will be just as good, if not way better.
I strongly disagree. The Saints Row games were well-made to begin with, and have only been increasing in quality. SR3 was excellent.
You misunderstood I never said SR3 sucked. I was actually good just I have yet to see THQ topple a R* game cause they ARE masters of their craft if the sales numbers aren't proof enough. I thought Max Payne 3 was going to be forgettable but it turned out to be probably one of my most favorite in a long time. The only open world games that have been successful are RPGs (Your fallouts and elder scrolls) and super hero games (expect amazing spider-man to squash that bad licensed game myth since it adapted fight mechanics from Batman Arkham City)
Sleeping Dogs looks damn good.
SR 3rd is a good game just needs better graphics.
SR is a different game and has a lot to offer.
THQ stop making cr4p DLC. IMO thats' the real issue.

@LongJohnSlivers Flag this garbage and hope GameSpot does something to block the truthofgaming URL
Yet another conspiracy theorist who jumps on the smallest piece of information that, might loosely, be connected to his/her theory, processes it out of context and announces the end of the gaming world.
The title of the website pretty much sums up the egotistical content of his site.
SR3 was so bad.... and now they want to rush out the fourth one... I smell another disappointment.
Anyone who played SR2 know just how downhill the third went.
well big f'you to all the people that preordered the dlc all 5 of them. this is why i would never do that
Yes, just hope it will be "full-length, high quality, connected experience" and not just a "full-priced" expansion.
How he mentions "full-priced" before anything else kind of makes me think otherwise.
Anybody thinking if its possible SR4 will be out the end of this year? I really hope so.. I love SR3! Its just a blast! Ain't nothing better than a sandbox type game that you can fully customize your own character and with great action, fighting, shooting, explosions... I'm so ready for the next one... Cause I doubt gta5 would come out this fall but i'm also hoping for that too
@janedouglas I <3 you...marry me? ;)
pretty noble move, Capcom would execute anyone who'd think of this, THQ also isn't getting a lot of money, they could've went through with it to make a quick buck, but Jason is playing it pretty smart. Since this small part will be going into a whole new installment, I'd expect SR4 to be even zanier than 3, which I would love!! Though I haven't played all of SR3, only played a demo, now I'm considering whether or I should hold off for SR4 :(
I hope THQ can pull off a good Saints Row game. That has a good story line and good voice over actors. They should had the stuff from Saints Row 2 and Saints Row :The Third into Saints Row 4. You're a very good editor Ms. Jane Douglas thumbs up for this article.
I just hope that they bring back the voice actors for The Boss. I love his default male voice and I get a kick out of hearing Laura Bailey drop F-bombs on people right before shooting them in the face.
SR3 is definitely over the top.. BUT I loved it. Runs well, vehicles are fun, and lots of unlocks and upgrades. Bizarre story but still heaps of fun. Have an open mind and you'll enjoy it. The DLC is cheap to buy and mostly cheap in nature, but still fun to collect. This is about the only game I've finished this year. Much more fun and forgiving than GTAIV. Cool vehicles. Cool Characters. A bit smutty ;-),and playing a semi naked chick with big guns is the way to go..lol.
Loved saints row 2 and 3 and will hopefully love 4not sure why everyone is moaning about the DLC though, you were never forced to buy it, I never did, instead I watched some people play it, had more of a laugh that way
I loved SR3 but only when i was stoned. To me that says enough about the quality and depth the game has. ZERO
@moc5 yeah running around with a dildo in your handBUY THIS KIDS -_-
@jubeio That would actually market better to kids than GTA's serious realistic action would...
@OneSamTwoCups still not a kiddie game/version of it though
people walking around in gimp suits holding dildos or running down the street naked scaring people that i would say is more of an adult version of GTA whereas GTA is just go round shooting people with same amount of swearing
