Majesco announces release date for Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter for Xbox 360 downloadable game hub.
In April, publisher Majesco Entertainment announced that Serious Sam would be back for more digital distribution following the release of Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter. The company made good on that promise in late April when Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter made its way to Steam for PC gamers. The title was also promised for Xbox Live Arcade, and today the run-and-gun renegade sequel received a release date for that system.
Majesco sent word today announcing that Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter will hit XBLA on September 22. Like the HD rerelease of The First Encounter, the game is being made in cooperation with original developer Croteam and Austin, Texas-based production and publishing company Devolver Digital.
Released less than a year after the original, Serious Sam: The Second Encounter debuted to critical acclaim. The game introduced a sniper rifle, a flamethrower, and a chainsaw to Sam's arsenal; five more enemy types; a trio of new bosses; and three diverse regions to explore/blow up. Croteam also packed in a co-op mode for four players to fight through a dozen levels and a handful of multiplayer versus modes.

They just dont make shooters where you can hold 10 different guns at the same time anymore, letalone use up ALL your ammo for them in one fight. Pure fun.
Hopefully they won't charge 1200 points for this also. I impulse bought the 1st one as I loved it when it first came out on the old xbox and very soon after they halved the price.
Hey majesco, how about putting money on the next Advent Rising game. Lets face it, yes it sucked playing the game directly off the disc, but when it was put onto your harddrive the game worked like a dream.
Second Encounter was a fantastic game; the final boss wasn't nearly as epic, but the stages leading up to that battle remain some of my favorite in any shooter. There's a wonderful Christmas treat in store for anyone who hasn't played the game already.
pa moji dragi hrvati stvarno zele da zarade :) Croteam, I once met one of them, was a nice talk, it's the pride of gaming coming from a country of former Yugoslavia :)
omg!!!! if i could preorder it i would. ive had the pc version as long as i can remember this is a must buy for me!!!!
*Keeps fingers crossed for split-screen* Played it to death on PC when it first came out, gotta love finding all the secrets...
Serious Sam is great because it doesn't pretend to be something it's not. It's an adrenaline-fest of ludicrous enemies designed for those with ADHD, and I love it for what it is.
Yes!! This is great news. I have been holding off buying this for the PC because I would rather play it with friends who would only be able to play the console versions. I loved Serious Sam, I loved The Second Encounter, I loved Serious Sam 2, I loved the first HD remake, and I will love this one as well. Now, when are we getting a TRUE sequel??!!?!?!?
@beau_x - yeah, it's definitely best played in short sessions. Fun for a quick, mindless romp though.
dear microsoft.... stop with all the downloadable goodies! i am stuck with a 20 gig hard drive! ITS FULL!!!!
