Guerrilla Games' long-awaited PS3 exclusive marches out against Capcom's Wii port of zombie slayer; Star Ocean: The Last Hope, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, Blue Dragon Plus also mobilize.
PlayStation 3 owners don't need to be told this--save maybe for those who have been adrift at sea for the past couple of years--but this week's biggest release is undoubtedly Killzone 2. Trumpeted by Sony as the next big thing since its dubious unveiling at the 2005 Electronic Entertainment Expo, Guerrilla Games' PS3-exclusive shooter has already made a positive impression on critics, and GameSpot's full review will arrive next week. For those who didn't preorder the game through GameStop, a demo is currently schedule to arrive on the PlayStation Network on February 26.
Xbox 360 gamers have an exclusive of their own to look forward to this week, though its hype is decidedly less than Killzone 2's. Square Enix will deliver the fourth proper installment in Tri-Ace's sci-fi role-playing series this week in Star Ocean: The Last Hope. The game is set after World War III and follows humankind as it makes its way into outer space.
The Nintendo DS is in for a big week as well. Ignition Entertainment will deliver the portable edition of Blue Dragon Plus, a fantasy RPG first released by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi's Mistwalker for the Xbox 360. Infinite Interactive will attempt to re-create the success of 2007's Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords with Puzzle Quest: Galactrix. Additionally, Atlus has the 3D remakes of Legacy of Ys: Books I amp; II in the queue for Nintendo's portable.
It's been a long, hard road for 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, but the one-time Vivendi Games, now THQ-published game is ready to take to the streets. In the Xbox 360 and PS3 game, 50 Cent and his G-Unit crew dive headfirst into a Middle Eastern warzone as they attempt to collect payment from a criminal syndicate for services rendered. PC wargamers will have a chance to launch their own assault against tyrannical forces with Tom Clancy's EndWar, a voice-controlled real-time strategy game from Ubisoft.
Lastly, Capcom's Dead Rising makes its return to consoles with Chop Til You Drop for the Wii. A lower-graphics port of the well-received Xbox 360 edition, the game sees photojournalist Frank West investigating a zombie infestation at the Willamette Parkview Mall. There, he will find all manner of often-ludicrous ways to eviscerate scads of the undead.

In your collective faces, haters, Killzone 2 is coming in two days to curb-stomp all of you. I can't wait to tear into this game online, and for once, the single player campaign looks phenomenal as well. Great start to what promises to be a stellar year for PS3, baby! To be the man, WOOOOOOOOO!!! You gotta beat the man!!
Have both Star Ocean and Killzone 2 preordered. Both games should be worth owning. Finally a chance to turn on my PS3 again. After playing the Nillzone 2 demo, I'm eager for the full version. This game better sell 1 million copies it's first week. No reason why it shouldn't. Everyone has been waiting for it, just like MGS IV. If it does a R2 and only sells 500K or less in it's first 2 weeks, I'll be very disappointed. Star Ocean probably won't sell a million right away, but It's still a must buy. They Halo Wars comes out next. So much gaming goodness so early this year.
Killzone 2........I cant wait, its almost out nd ive been waiting for this game to come out.Best FPS if not best game for the PS3 I hope?
man, can't wait for some fiddy action. haha j/k, im so getting killzone 2 day 1, game of the year right there
Two amazing weeks we have here. Last week SF4 proved to be mindblowing and this week there's exclusives for everyone.
Oh man... I cannot wait for Killzone 2! Just a couple more days... Lol, meanwhile, Wii owners get to enjoy yet another "lower-graphics port" of a 2 and a half year-old game! Yippee!
if only i didn't sell my ps3. oh well. i'll rebuy it when theres a good enough price drop so i can enjoy mgs4 and killzone two. probably going to hold off buying street fighter for 360 cause the controller pad isn't good enough. oh well, back to playing mass effect since i just bought it for 20 bucks new, i used to get games the day they come out but then i became a college student and can't afford it. Finally I'm at a point where theres so many good games to play and I can get them for super cheap.
you dont have to wait till the 26th to play the demo. All you have to do is make a new FREE account on the psn and set it as your from the UK and you will be able to download it right away trust me it works i did it
Killzone two is utterly amazing. I couldnt believe it. I didnt think it would live up to the hype but then I played the demo, The demo was amazing and I cant wait to see the real whole thing. I already pre ordered and paid in full for my copy. A good reason to fire up my old trusty PS3. YA BABY!
Killzone 2 is going to be amazing! I have been awaiting this game for a long time. I can't wait! I hope it lives up to the hype!
A lowered down Graphics Port of Dead Rising? That game looks horrible on the 360 as it is...Anyone with this game pop it into your 360 right now as I did and you'll Be like WTF? So how Low can the graphics go? this is not a good sign for Nintendo Fans
still no MadWorld, I hope Chop till you drop turns out well, wouldnt want to see another wii port gone bad.
....(sigh!) Finaly..... some GAMES!!!..now this is news to me!! hip hip horaaay!! hip hip Horaaaaay!!
The demo is short, but solid. It's already been out in the Europe store for a few weeks (which is why a made an "account" for Europe). Why is the demo not out in the U.S?
I can't wait for this week. Getting Killzone 2 after waiting FOREVER. Also getting SO4 for xbox. So when I'm taking a break from effin up Helghast and killing online, I'll be RPGing it!
are you kidding me charliefuber this isnt the first good game for ps3 have you heard of metal gear solid 4 or warhawk or both of the resistance games?!? all of those games are in my top ten of all time and killzone 2 will join them this friday
Why wouldn't KZ2 be nominated for Game of the Year?? Although I have only played the demo, which gave only a small amount of play...it made me even more anxious to get the game! I'm guessing the demo isnt on the US PSN servers yet then?
Just had to upgrade to release date delivery for KZ2 on Amazon. I've waited along time to play this game. Anxious to play it.
finally, after years of loooong wait, killzone 2 is finally comming. i can't wait to get my hands on it! especially after playing that bloody short demo!!!
GodOfSyn the game has obviously been in production since the release of Killzone. Companies rarely wait more than a few months between the release of one game and the beginning development of their next.
Killzone 2 will own all other games in sales this week. It's going to be great I can't wait until Friday. :D
I really have been following Killzone 2 forever, I mean there were talks before 05' about this. Game has probably been in development for 5-6 years. It looks promising that's for sure, the gfx and controls looks to be lag free which is quite a feat considering the gfx seem to be nearly Crysis worthy, though don't get me wrong nothing can top Crysis for gfx on a console but man oh man this game looks great! Next game for me that I am looking forward to is, Final Fantasy 13! Hope it goes back to its roots, 7, 8, 9 roots hehehehe. Take care guys and cya online Friday!
I can't wait for Star Ocean And Puzzle Quest Galactrix, yayy, and then after that RE5 comes out, very nice!
Killzone 2 for me, I already put $5 to get the demo, and though I liked the demo I was disappointed by how short it was, but this game looks great I don't plan to play Chop Til You Drop but I've seen videos, there's like 5% of the zombies in any given space that the X360 version had... at the very least I realize that a lot of the challenge to Dead Rising was getting survivors to safety, and in many crucial places the zombies are packed wall to wall, but since the Wii doesn't have that kind of power, running around the zombies doesn't even seem like it's going to be an issue at all, instead of holding onto a survivor's hand while you push through a zombie mob that goes down an entire hallway or few, you'll most likely just have to run around several zombies in your way like it's nothing... in a way, that's not totally cause for complaint, sometimes rescuing survivors can be so hard its frustrating, except to someone who'd played through before, knew where to save, and goes at it over and over 'til they get it right, then again, it takes away from the challenge, so it'll be interesting to see what critics familiar with the X360 version have to say about this one
the haters haven't been owned yet. I am excited, but ... probably won't buy it until I hear more about it. : P I am still occupied with RPGs from the days of yore.
The wait for KZ2 was beyond epic...the hype the hate, and in the end the haters have been owned...i can't wait to play the full game
Killzone 2 comes out this week, GS's review comes out next week. Looks like GS really wants to reserve judgement till they play online with rest of the world
