Shippin' Out Nov. 20-26: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Link's return to the Wii signals the backend of the holiday release period with Tekken Hybrid, Serious Sam 3: BFE hitting shelves, and The King of Fighters XIII.
It's Thanksgiving this week, and the new release calendar is giving gamers plenty of reasons to be thankful. This week see the return of Link and Serious Sam, a pair of resurgent fighting franchises, and much more.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword marks Link's return to the Wii in his first mainline game since Twilight Princess, which launched alongside Nintendo's remote-sporting system in 2006. His latest adventure sees the Wii's motion-sensing capabilities put to use in a new combat system. Beyond giving Link new ways to cut up the usual assortment of carnivorous plants, disembodied eyeballs, and orcish monsters, the game features new gadgets and abilities for the lithe protagonist to employ.
Namco Bandai's 3D tag fighter is back in the Tekken Hybrid dual pack for the PS3. The game portion delivers an HD remake of the original Tekken Tag Tournament, along with a demo for Tekken Tag Tournament 2. The 3D feature film Tekken Blood Vengeance 3D is also included to round out the package.
Atlus is delivering the latest entry in another classic fighting series this week with The King of Fighters XIII for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. King of Fighters XIII will expand on its predecessor's roster, increasing from 22 characters to more than 30, and will include faster fights and new Neomax super moves. A completely revamped online mode is also on the way.
Another largely fondly remembered franchise is making a return this week with Serious Sam 3: BFE on the PC. Sam's latest encounter sees the return of the series' signature adversaries like the Headless Kamikaze and Gnaar, as well as new opponents going by names like Scrapjack and Khnum.
