Once again, ea has found a way to get my money... But this time im happy for that. Even tho i hav this for pc, but my laptop sux and i will be able to play with my litle bro like the simaholic i am. Multiplayer online, PLEASE!!!
Two months after EA lists the Sims 3 as coming to consoles and handhelds, the company officially unveils non-PC/Mac versions of ultrasuccessful sim game.
In February, Electronic Arts laid out its release slate for the coming year. At the end of the list of games scheduled as coming in the October-December quarter was "The Sims 3 on Console Title TBA (consoles, handhelds)." The schedule backed up reports that initially surfaced in 2006 that the Sims series was coming to consoles. It also made perfect business sense, as the Sims 3 has sold over 4.5 million units to date on the PC and Mac, making it the top PC game of 2009.
Today, EA officially announced that the Sims 3 will ship for the DS, Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 this fall. Published under the EA Play label, the game will sport many of the same customization and character creation options as the PC edition of the game, as well as some new features. These include karma powers, which players can use to give their in-game incarnations instant luck--be it good or bad.
The PS3 and 360 editions of the game will also feature an online exchange system where players can share content they've created with others. The two versions will feature online integration with Facebook as well, allowing them to broadcast their achievements and trophies on the social networking service.
On the Wii, the Sims 3 will be set in a beach town and will have some adventure elements, including quests. The game will have the requisite traits, careers, and life goals, and players will be able to challenge each other in a new "Life Moments" mode.
Finally, the DS version of the game will let players use the handheld's stylus as a design tool to customize physical objects, such as houses and furniture. The handheld can also be used to tailor sims' clothes and alter their physical features and hairstyles. It will sport a story mode as well, which puts players in charge of various members of a family as they go through life.
They said they will make it much like the PC versions! but this won't come out till oct 26th. and it's EA! It will get delayed.
I'm excited about it. I hope it has all the features that the PC version does and if not all, at least most. I'll still be happy with that. For some reason I feel like we'll probably get a PC FB that'll say "enjoy my sloppy seconds" like some of those 360 FBs. :P You guys, it's not that serious.
So wait, this is going to be a strait port, with just some new features? No added story mode in it? Suck. I wanted the PS3 version for a story mode, like all the other console The Sims games I have. Guess, I'll have to get it on the Wii, since that will have a story mode. Edit: Never mind, did some reading on it from the Thesims3 dot com, and it will have unlockables and challenges, so I'll get it. : D
They say it's going to be like the pc version I hope we can still visit sims at their houses and we have all the clothes in our inventory. I can't wait to buy the ps3 version. Yes I have the pc version but sometimes you just want to play it on the console. I'm excited that sims can go on community lots because in the sims 2 console versions sims were confined to home lots. I hope also we have all the interactions we have now on the pc and their not watered down like the ps2 versions was.
looks good. I never minded the console versions, but the more the console version is like the pc version the better.
I guess they haven't learned their lesson. Just because there are other systems doesn't mean you need to put them EVERYWHERE! Still it could be good but thank god that I have the PC version.
Unless this is a practically straight port of the PC version, I don't see how this is going to be any good.
would love to play it on the pc but would have to buy a whole new comp for that so hopefully this will be ok....lol
Ugh. It's probably just going to be some horribly butchered game that's nothing like the PC version just like Sims 2 on the consoles was.
I'm tired of the MySims games, but I enjoyed the first ones. I just want an Utbz sequel with its GBA like gameplay.
Sounds good but I got burnt on Sims2 for the DS, which was terrible, so I'll probably wait for reviews before getting it.
i rly hope its like the pc version unlike when it was out 4 ps2 the sims 2 was totally diff.... not good!! just make it the same :D
even so. they won't make it as good as it is on PC. it is nice to be able to play sims 3 on my ps3 though.
its about time,EA is smart.sold 4.5 m units only on then PC without saying anything about the console version.now they are talking about console release.
Maybe they should fix the PC version first, before releasing it on console.... ERROR Code 12/13 anyone?
I understand the PS3 and 360 (hard drive=expansions=close to PC version) releases but Wii and DS ones are just pointless, only to milk consumers.
To gray_fox1984 Videogames aren't surrogate to real life. They have all the potential that you cant have in real life. Ex: in real life you can't build your houses, unless you have a degree in architecture, money, etc... nor you can try many different jobs, or live the tipical humor of the series (ghosts? stupid job quests? etc...), or have as many children you like, or "reset" your family if you don't like it... Sport game like soccer, football or basket are different... ok... you can't be Beckham o Jordan, but you can easily play with a ball with friend also if you're not good... So, try the game, if you don't believe me, and then write me all the things you can do in the game that you can do easily in real life (aside sleeping, eating, sleep)... I'll have my family one day, but it will be a challenge where every mistake will be payed, where if i take a path at a crossroad the other probably will be lost... in the meantime I can have fun with this.
I just wonder what kind of Achievements/Trophies will come out for the Sims... probably will have to go about each and every career/pathway. And of course set someone on fire.
I've always enjoyed the co-op elements of The Sims on consoles, hopefully this will be no different as it's one of the few games out there both myself and my girlfriend enjoy.
Three installments,a billion expansions and a zillion copies sold... and i still don't get the Sims. Im sure you folks have your reasons, but recreating mundane life in a videogame seems more counter productive than gaming itself. Why be a suburban yuppie when you can stop an alien invasion, fly an F14 or throw a fireball while shouting Hadoken!? I'm sure there must be something to it, but any time i've seen this series in action it seems like a gigantic snore and i'm not crazy about sports games either! yeah, i said it (same logic as sims, you can play a sport, just like you can live a life, so why do those things on your playstation?)
