yeah finally a game that is more realistic when it comes to skateboarding..... like in the tony hawkes series they tell you to, "grind the rail to unscrew the bolts" I mean W ..T.. F... man!!! Im pretty stoked about the team stuff though..=)
EA's skateboarding series places heavy emphasis on team play; hits PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 next year.
Once a challenger to Tony Hawk's skateboarding throne, EA's Skate has since managed to itself establish at the top of the genre. The first game introduced a revolutionary analog control system, and the sequel brought new features, tricks, and game modes to the party. Today, Skate's status as a series was cemented with a third game developed by Black Box, which is set to launch on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in May 2010.
Skate 3 will boast a team-based focus, according to senior producer Jason DeLong, with gamers being offered "the tools they need to build their ultimate team or to create a team comprised entirely of their online friends," he said. A new co-op mode will allow players to work together and advance several careers at once via an expanded Hall of Meat mode, where you aim to hurt your skater as much as possible, and a new skate school that will teach players of all skill levels.
The game will also take place in a brand new location--Port Carverton--which is showcased in the game’s first trailer below. The company also announced that preorders of the game will come with an unlock code for the Black Box Distribution Skate Park--the home of the Zero, Mystery, and Fallen skate teams. Skate 3 will launch on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in May 2010, so keep an eye on GameSpot for more information as we get it.
skate 1 and 2 one of the best games Ive played in a while in this genre, definitely putting skate 3 on my list of games to buy :)
i want to see what the controlls r they have to be better then tonys but am so stoked with the team stuff
@ Frame_Dragger Thanks man, I loved what the Tony Hawk games were about and all the advances they made in those early days, it was something to look forward to. Skate does have some good ideas, I don't wanna come off disrespectful of good stuff, it's just not my kind of gameplay......the fact they are on their 3'rd game says alot......
@ Mobymg that was the thing that made skate2 so good imo!!! they didnt come bck with loads of silly moves and lvls to make number 2 better......they simply just added more of the same!!! something more game companys too need to do........imagine if R* had done it when making GTA4........ I hope that darkslide on the trailer is a hard trick!!! the thing that made me enitially fall in love with skate1 was the fact there was no grind button!!! why? becuase in real life a grind is how it is in the game.....throw yourself and the board at the bar add some skill and accurecy and then ride the board down the bar.......i sooo hope the keep skate3 real like the last 2......thps can keep its board/pad......skate is by way th ebest skateing game, it wins hands down on every single aspect........other then if you want to spend your gaming time grinding in massive loops manueling continuosly and/or doing a combination of the 2 in some really OTT location .
I loved the original Skate but experiencing Skate 2 right after finishing the first wasn't exactly how I had imagined it would have been.. I hope they'll take out whatever didn't work, let the best characteristics and add a bunch of new amazing stuff for this third iteration. I'll definitely get my hands on this one too!
@residude, The controls are no problem they can use the keyboard without the mouse and it's fine. And who have a problem with the controls can by a 360 controller.
Wow, can't wait for May 2010:D I hope this will be better than OG Skate, Skate 2 was a bit of a letdown for me..
I hope they put better clothes options. they should put more options for editing decks and shirts, like rotate and skew and stuff and adding more than one decal.
@Hunting_prodigy you said it yourself, its just an announcement trailer. why the heck would they put so much effort into making a trailer when they have a game to make?
@sub-raid, mate how do you think the controls would translate onto a mouse and keyboard? They wouldn't @-Five0-, couldnt agree with you more mate, Tony hawks got so ridiculous when it was like grind the ferris wheel to undo the bolts so that it will slide into the water then you can propel yourself to the boat.
i haven't got any of the skate games yet (the only skateboarding game i have is THPS2 on PC lol), but if i have any spare cash after i've caught up with games this gen i'll buy it.
didnt like 2... never tried the first i thought it was like tony hawks except without all the really cool bits
To keep it the revolutionary controlled skating the original was they shouldn't focus so much expanding tricks and features of that sort. Seriously, after the first couple tony hawks the series was completely played out with lame building blocks for levels the made skateboarding seem so irrelevant. To further explain skateboarding is about STYLE and smooth little tricks chained from one to another. NOT big 1080 spins to telephone pole grind to manual across school rooftop. Focus on the graphics but more importantly physics and control... things of that nature. The juice that makes the punch.
As Tony Hawk series is changing, I'm so happy there is still a controller based Skating game coming :)...........
Another skating game. Sports games: the only genre more played-out, redundant, and pointless than music games. And as long as I'm on the topic, the Beatles suck.
I know that the video was only an announcement trailer, but geez, the graphics looked terrible. I just hope this doesn't ruin what, so far, has been a brilliant series of games. The emphasis on mulitplayer will kill it for those who don't have XBL or PSN (referring to the "entirely of your friends" part). OR just, for the love of everything that's good in this world, don't turn out like THUG2. That was an embarrassment to the series. With the whole "Team vs Team" albeit Jackass style. I'll wait for more on it, but I do have my fingers crossed.
Tony Hawk series is dead (Ride = money making scheme) & I don't like that u can't do a zillion point tricks in skate..I guess no more skating games for me xD
