Skyrim DLC to add crossbows, snow elves - Report

is this exclusively for xbox 360 or will it come on ps3 ??

I thought that the Snow Elves were the Falmer. Also, I wonder if they're gonna make snow elves playable.

They might have more then just snow elves and i would like to know more about any of the races. Ive only played oblivion and skyrim. I own morrowind but havent completed it. i would just wait till e3 vs assuming they are going to add only snow elfs and cross bows for a $20 add on. they promised beefy content, ill hold them to it. I think they added the codes for the dlc into the update for a reason...

Poor form, Bethesda. I'll make sure to get the DLC... a month after it comes out on Xbox... but I guarantee I won't be paying for it.

Umm to the idiots complaining about the story VVV saying "Notice how that's the only TES game that makes up such a stupid affilation to the character you don't even earn.". The dragonborn aren't made up. All of the kings in tamriel have dragon blood.

I don't think any platform should be excluded from 30 days of content. Gamers' money is green, and games shouldn't be hostages for brand logos. Imagine all those dollars you spent on games (or subscriptions) going toward this as a result - withholding joy from other gamers. It's a childish waste that could've been spent better.

@TigusVidiks Godammit, why do you keep going in the wrong direction?? I compared it to previous TES installment to prove Skyrim's story was NOT a result of the fact it was open world because previous installments did it with more sandbox and still a better story that allows for better roleplaying. Why is that so hard to understand? The reason I gave DA as an example is because you used the Racial choices and freedom of choice as an explanation to why Skyrim's story is lacking, and I used both DA AND the other TES games as examples to the fact Skyrim's weak story was not a result of being shadowed by the game's bigger qualities, but rather because of a lazy "You're one special Mothaluva ! Go save the world!" concept. Notice how that's the only TES game that makes up such a stupid affilation to the character you don't even earn. In all other TES games a turn of events gets you, just some random nobody no one knows involved in a bigger conflict that ends with him changing the face of the land. BY PROVING himself. in Skyrim it was just "You're Dovahkiin! Go f**k them up." Funniest thing is that even after you save Skyrim, no one gives a flying duck.

@supertom221 in the end you're backing out of your own idea. My first post was an answer to the comparison on the DA and Skyrim stories and why they could not be similar in emotional involvement. @The-Neon-Seal I played the PC version (the least buggy one according to what I read) and when I started playing some update had already came out and I have to say I encountered a lot of bugs. The mammoth flying in the sky.... How can anyone in the world miss that one? Anyway I love Skyrim, it is a great game but I can't believe it is impossible to release a game without bugs. We are not talking about a 10 or even 50, we are talking about a number so big that even after 6 months plus all the time they spent making the game they still can't fix it. I am not asking for a perfect game, that is impossible because of the size of the game, but like I said before a flying mammoth is a little hard to miss.

@skunknuts Xbox 360 exclusive for the first month given that the PS3 version at launch was littered with bugs including one which made it near-unplayable. Obviously bethesda don't want to make it up to PS3 players. That's fine. I won't make it up to them with my money :).

guidodi I'm not trying to sound harsh, but your statement "I am not saying it is easy either but It is their JOB, they get PAID to do it, they are not a bunch of amateurs releasing a game for fun. So my answer is yes... I expect them to do their job even if it is hard and time consuming." Is just absolutely ridiculous. It's absolutely impossible to create all the different possibilities that could exist from every machine. If you'll notice some machines suffer from this bug while others don't. Some PS3's do just fine, while others suffer terribly. Why? Can you tell us all why this is. No matter how hard they try to make them all the same, there are always going to be differences. Where a chip was manufactured, Where the hard drive came from. Just little things, but it makes it impossible to recreate every possible error that might or might no occur on every machine especially on a game that size. They do the best they can then hope to fix the rest as they raise there ugly heads. My family had two copies that ran great. Minor things at best. You just never know. But I do agree that companies should take more time to make sure that they get more than they do. It seems to be a growing problem, that's for sure.

When I saw the highlighted "Skyrim Wiki Entry" I'm really wondering if you can trust it or not, you can make up all sorts of crazy stuff on the edit.

@TigusVidiks You have just completely misread everything I meant to. I never said Dragon Age was truly free in it's way of playing, not at all actually, and I'd rather ignore DA2 for this issue, if you may. I was jsut saying Freedom is NOT an excuse to have a bad story, and Skyrim had a bad story. The idea was good, the concept was doable, but it just fell short. They promised a campaign that would be at least as long as Oblivion's if not longer, at least 20-30 hours. If you don't count goofing around and side-questing, the MQ took me roughly about 5-10 hours to complete, and half of it was just "go to place X, talk to Y, fetch a Z from some cave." It was weak. VERY weak. And it ended on a very wierd note that gave literally NO closure to the story. What happens with the dragons now? What can Dovahkiin do now? If you defeated Alduin, why are they still attacking?? Why is Paarthurnax still on the mountain if he is to lead Dragons into a new age?... What was the f***ing point if they still attack?! The story did not co-operate with the actual game. And yes, Skyrim's power is not in that, but in sandbox freedom. But honestly, little changed from previous installments for that. You still get blamed and hunted by guards for the dumbest s***, do guild quests, which are pretty bad in Skyrim, and just goof around & questing. Skyrim lacks interesting lore and an atmosphere to keep you on the edge. It's just not exciting. It's grey. Very, VERY grey.

Nice, although I am so not ready for any DLC for Skyrim haha but I'm falling behind in the gaming world. Just picked up Battlefield 3 for $20, before that grabbed Rayman Origins for $20, Catherine for $38 and before that SSX and NFS:The Run both $20 a pop. Too many games (First World Problems I know)!

Also... Crossbows and that gun that Ripley makes at the end of Aliens are the ultimate monster-slaying projectile weapons.

@guidodi Skyrim was mega buggy when it first came out but after all the patches, I don't think ive noted any really bad problems in a while... just collision, behavoral and the odd animation glitch... all of which you got in Oblivion and Fallout3 game of the year edition... I'm guessing you play the unofficialy igonored and unsupported PS3 version. Not knocking the console, I have one myslef, it brillient... Just saying that it was designed on XBox with high quality PC port in mind and that their not really bothered about Sony... Wrong I know but... thats the way it goes... Now... I WANT DLC! *bangs cutlery on table.

But your point is that because is hard and it would take a lot of time to release the game without bugs it shouldn't be done? That it is impossible to release a game without bugs? I expect them to do their job even if it is hard and time consuming. And you have to consider that the game came out almost 6 months ago with millions of people playing the game and reporting bugs. That should give them some help eliminating the bugs but like I said 6 months and 8 updates later and there are still bugs.

@supertom221 Dragon Age Origins, I already presented as an example of being the oposite of Skyrim in terms of story telling. Don't even compare the freedom you have in Skyrim, with the freedom you have in Dragon Age Origins. DA:O doesn't give you freedom. What you are talking is only about character choice, (which was quickly abandoned in the franchise) that had a specific reason for existing in the first place , you know, being ORIGINS and all... you don't even follow the same story line untill you finish the origin of the character. As for the rest, I don't remember being able to murder farmers, becoming a werewolf, a vampire, sleeping, getting married, decorating a house.... (should I go on?) , all of that without even being relevant for the story itself. That is the freedom I'm talking, not just in the race choosing. I mentioned race choosing, mainly because there are other RPGs where you don't have that. From divinity, to the witcher, to nier or FF. all with strong stories. DA and Skyrim have nothing to do with each other. They both are about making you special??? Well yes, both of them are, as well as 99% of any other game where you take control of a character, duh! I'm discussing how different they are as a game, not as story. DA purpose as a game,is mainly about telling a story. Skyrim is about giving you freedom.

I agree with you, that Morrowind's story was better than Oblivion or Skyrim, but we are not discussing the Tes series only. Well: Minor Spoilers. The Snow Elves are the Falmer, but anyone that made through the entire thieves guild quest and asked every question in the meantime knows that.

its a shame that betseda is selling out to withhold the dlc for other than xbox players , its also lame from microsoft to pay for this instead of rather investing the cash into exclusive game projects .... i mean who will get a xbox and start skyrim from start to play the dlc rather than waiting 30 days to continue on their other plattfrom of choice lol ?

Yes, the Dwarves in ES are actually tall elves. Dwarves=Dwemer. I doubt that they'd add Snow Elves as a playable race, as the upcoming dlc is just a dlc and not a full game, though I suppose it's possible. Didn't the Snow Elves devolve into the present-day Falmer? Either way, I'm assuming that the Snow Elves will be simply npcs that are involved with the dlc and not an actual playable race. Whatever happens to be in this dlc, I'm looking foward to it. Hopefully it includes that huge mudcrab, as seen in the gamejam video.

What a weird day. DireBadger I was playing just the other day and was thinking close to exactly what you just said. I want my dwarfs. (saw that about the elvish dwarves as well). vault-boy. I've said that same thing on two other sites only to get attacked by bethesda haters. Not one person wanted to listen. Not one person could answer back when I asked them about that same thing. They only wanted to rant and rave and hate on the world. Nice to see others out there with enough smarts to see that and understand it.

@vault-boy I totally agree with you. I remember back with my Snes that there were a few games recalled due to bugs. No chances of patches when there was no internet... Sure some games get the "meh we will patch later" attitude, but with Skyrim it was just something they did not catch. 360 version runs fine, just the ps3 is having major problems. But at least they are trying, and admit there is issues.

@guidodi so your pissed that a MASSIVE game with literally hundreds of hours of single player content that took thousands upon thousands of hours to make has bugs in it? News flash, when you make a game that big its going to have bugs and there is not any way around it. Do you know how long it takes to beta test a game as huge as Skyrim? If they worked every bug out it would take months. That means you would have developers just sitting around doing nothing and you either have to pay them for that or when they don't get any money they quit. Its just stupid to say that Bethesda needs to squash every bug in the game, its just not possible. You, and everyone who agrees with you, are either pretentious, stupid or both.

Because of the pointless exclusivity deal with Xbox, this Dlc isn't on my radar at the moment.

@guidodi what bugs are you talking about? what system? Id like you see you make a masive game like TES cross platform it without bugs while maintaining a deadline for release. Give them credit for making updates and addressing the huge bugs and adding improvements as well. What you want are unrealistic expectations.
