Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time hits Feb. 5

Sanzaru Games' time-travelling action game coming to PS3 and PS Vita early next year; also launching day-and-date on PSN.
Sony has finally selected a specific moment in time for Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time to release. The company today announced that the action game will arrive February 5 in North America for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.
At launch, the game will be available both at retail and through the PlayStation Network. The game is also one of the first titles to take advantage of Sony's new Cross Buy promotion. As part of the offer, gamers who pick up the PS3 version of Thieves in Time will get the PS Vita iteration for free.
Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time is the first core entry in the series developed outside of Sucker Punch Productions, but Sony has tapped a studio familiar with the source material for the project. Sanzaru Games, which contributed to 2010's Sly Collection, is behind Thieves in Time.

Looks pretty cool, just as many other ps3 games. thnx SONY for caring about video gamers` needs.
I...actually do provide faith for this new title. It would not surprise me if this surpassed the other games in the series, and from the faith Sucker Punch has in the new developers, I'd say its an easy homerun
Happy with a new installment, leery of a non-Sucker Punch development.
For what it's worth, Sly was my favorite franchise of last gen.
1 Like I hope Sanzaru can deliver by enhancing the gameplay for the PS3 as the story looks far too similar to the original, collecting pages of the Theivius Racoonus all over again...
I hope they didn't make a mistake by making this. It was getting some hype after it was announced, but now it almost seems like it doesn't exist. I won't be playing it, but I hope the lack of exposure isn't going to hurt it.

@angeloti83 ps3 exclusives lol... sony does nothing but rip people off left and right...LBP to combat mario...modnation and LBPkarting to combat mario kart...PS all stars to combat smash bros...killzone to combat halo...uncharted to combat gears of war.. its pathetic... sly cooper is a sony ip from the cartoon days back in the ps1/ps2 era when cartoons where still popular...but it's over now..this nintendo ripoff isn't worth anyone's time.

@KBFloYd first of all, reviews are based on many things such as : gameplay, controllers, story, camera, graphics, and mechanics, of you don`t belive me ask any editor at gamespot or IGN. Second , selling a lot of games doesn`t mean it`s a good game, best example is CALL OF DUTY which only has a good multiplayer mode. And third.... end of discussion, I don`t wanna waste my time arguing with somebody who doesn`t have a clue about the video game industry. Keep playing Mario.. nobody cares.
@angeloti83 the only reason they score well is because of the graphics...the actual games suck and the sales show that.

i honestly dont know how the uncharted games scored so high...they are no better than any other game...last of us looks like the same thing in a different setting.

@KBFloYd SEEMS LIKE YOU NEED TO BUY A PS3 BUDDY, uncharted is NOTHING like gears of war, it`s got puzzles, and a great story unlike gow, since when can you build your own stages in a mario game??? LBP is UNIQUE because you can play stages people make from scratch!!- MARIO is the same thing over and overr AND YOU DON`T HAVE THE FREEDOM FROM lbp.... Also SONY has games like GOD OF WAR, TWISTED METAL, THE LAST OF US, INFAMOUS, RATCHET AND CLANK, which are unique on its own way..which i recommend you to try if you trully call yourself a "VIDEO GAMER" princess peach... @Slim02 That's the only way around it, but I'm sure Sony does not approves of it. The PSVita is an example of what I mean. Anyway, there are plenty of other issues with it, too. With first party games and Sony claiming online multi-player to be free, the two statements contradict each other. Personally, I consider the online pass a form of blackmail. (You buy this game new for your proper region or we'll take this feature away from you unless pay extra for it, even though we originally said it was free when we launched our system.)

Yeah they did miss up Ratchet and Clank series with All 4 One. But I hope that Full Frontal Assault will be better so it can gain it respect back up.
The cross-play feature might actually get me to buy this game quickly. Being able to play at home and continue on the go for one price sounds sweet. Having to buy two games separately is why MLB The Show's cross-play didn't work out.
@Lhomity That code won't work for your main account if you import a game. So if someone from America is on vacation in Europe and decides to pick the game up while there instead of doing so back home, that code is going to cause them problems.

Hope it doesnt suffer "this gen" syndrome like everything else. IE short game unless you count mountains of DLC and online passes. I will wait though. If it has a online pass, sony isnt getting my money and I will buy used when it is cheaper.
1 Like @svaubel Strange philosophy you have there. You don't like online passes, so you'll buy a game used if it requires one. I've heard of voting-with-one's-wallet, but buying a used game as some kind of statement against online passes simply defies logic. =/
No offense, but if you buy a new game with a pass you enter a 12-digit code. If you buy it used you are getting a item someone else and used and enjoyed. If a publisher decides that their online servers and other costly services are only provided to their customers, that is hardly a consumer rights violation, no matter how you twist it.
Again, no offense, but my brain hurts every time I see people whining about online passes.
@Lhomity Why am I whining about online passes? Because it devalues games on the secondary market, and is a sign of publisher/developer entitlement thinking that they can still own a product after it has been sold. They think the used game market is piracy, but it is not. Piracy results in the loss of millions in revenue. Used games change hands what maybe a dozen times if that? And the money goes somewhere each time. Piracy is theft since no money changes hands. The original buyer paid for the full cost an thus the server time. He is no longer using that online space once he no longer has the game. Yet the pubs think they need to get a cut of the sale off used? Does no one else see a problem with this?
In no other industry are the sellers getting away with so much bull shit business practice. Yet people eat it all up like the good little sheep that they are.
I actually buy most of my games new, but I almost always wait for price drops since most games are half price within a few months. But I refuse to buy new games that have online passes because the more that sell that include them, more and more the publishers are going to think what they can get away with to screw over the consumer.
@svaubel Of course it devalues the game on the secondary market. Its the only thing that truly devalues the game on the secondary market. If you resell an item, it makes sense it be worth less than a new one. You can resell the game, but not the terms of your service. Its not about selling access or how many hours you have or haven't played online for. The pass implies the service is provided to you, and you alone, and is bound to your name/account.
In comparison, if you buy a new car, its devalued the moment you drive it, and not all warranties, roadside assist plans and other services can be resold (some manufacturers will let you do this, however). But then, there's an extremely clear distinction between a new car and a used car. If you've driven a used car, its obvious. Then again, nobody buys a new car, drives it for 5-10 hours then trades it in for another (rinse/repeat). Nor does anyone buy a new car, already having planned how and when they're going to re-sell it.
Missing manuals, inserts, broken or generic boxes, a few marks on the disc - none of these bother many modern gamers, while GameStop are passing much of this off at $5 difference within weeks of launch.
I'm willing to debate further in PM if you want. I feel bad detracting from Sly Cooper news, which most likely won't even have an online pass at all. =/
@Lhomity Online passes are evil. I don't have time to list all the reasons why, but I'll give you these two examples:
1. If I sell my car while it's still under warranty, the manufacturer will still back it up. It's part of the value of my car, and there's no reason that value shouldn't be transferrable.
2. If someone sells a game, then that person is no longer using the online servers, so it's not like the purchaser is creating some additional load on them that wasn't already accounted for in the purchase of the game. What difference does it make if one gamer plays for six months or two gamers play for three months each in sequence?
I can understand why game makers hate used game sales, but claiming that it's an additional strain on their servers isn't true.
I wonder if Sony's going to use the online pass on top of the cross buy. I want to get this game, and I'd like to show respect for them taking a step in the right direction and being a bit more like GOG/Nintendo. Although, I refuse to buy games with online passes.
8 Like Yeah I think he is right. I did check and Sly Cooper games always had that same animation. It does look like PS2 quality but in HD and probably alittle more cartoonest.

I decided a while back not to pre-order it. I really hope it's good, and if it is I'll buy it for sure. But I just don't have enough faith in Sanzaru yet to say I'm sold.
1 Like @nintendo-naut It's fair to be skeptical but after playing the demo, I think Sanzaru Games is a much better choice for the series than Sucker Punch returning.I love Sucker Punch. They will always be one of my favorite developers but they were watering down the series with the release of Sly 3 (great game but not a great Sly game). I trust Sanzaru Games to make an awesome Sly game.
@DrRockso87 Well, I disagree about Sly 3 and I haven't played the demo. :P I'll just wait 'till the ol' review scores come in.
