I had a feeling that a game of this show would've been a quick cash-grab and done nothing for the great show it represents. So, in a way, I'm glad they're passing on the game. It would've ruined the shows legacy.
Sons of Anarchy game 'not looking good'
Series creator Kurt Sutter upgrades status of game based on biker drama show from "dead" to unlikely.
The prospect of a game based on TV show Sons of Anarchy is "not looking good." That's according to series creator Kurt Sutter, who offered a status update on the game last night over Twitter.
Responding to a question of "When is this [Sons of Anarchy] video game coming to life? Or will it ever?" Sutter replied, "Not looking good. But I'll keep throwing salt on the wound."
Today's status update is an upgrade from what Sutter said in November, when he declared the game "dead" after he said it failed to gather interest from the industry or support from Fox. Prior to that, Sutter reached out to Rockstar Games, asking the Grand Theft Auto studio to call him about a potential partnership. It is not clear if any discussion was ever held.
The Sons of Anarchy game has had a roller coaster ride of a past year. Sutter first teased a tie-in in February, when he stated a browser-based game was possible. Then in May, he confirmed larger plans for the game after meeting with a mystery distributor, saying the project would be a "real" title for consoles that may take a while to create.
Less encouraging news on the Sons of Anarchy game came in August, when Sutter claimed a major publisher dismissed the project, and added that the game may never come to market.
Sons of Anarchy is an FX television show in its fifth season that focuses on a closely knit group of motorcycle outlaws. It is set in the fictional town of Charming, California, and stars Charlie Hunnam (Green Street Hooligans, Pacific Rim) as the show's protagonist Jackson "Jax" Teller. Sons of Anarchy also features Katey Sagal (Married with Children, Futurama) and Ron Perlman (Fallout: New Vegas, Hellboy).
