For those of you that have it, can you honestly recommend buying one? I contemplated it but with the fact that Sony didnt even put much effort into marketing it at e3, plus cost and lack of # of games, I am going to pass.

E3 2012: Publisher explains handheld system's conspicuously low profile at E3 as a response to criticisms of lengthy events in previous years.
LOS ANGELES--The PlayStation Vita was largely absent from Sony's Electronic Entertainment Expo media briefing, taking a backseat to news of the PlayStation 3 and Sony's other gaming initiatives. In an interview with VG247 after the event, Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida explained the recently released system's lack of time in the spotlight.
"It was our fault for not spending enough time on PS Vita content. We have 25 new games on the show floor, playable during E3…So we could have shown more during the press conference. But I observed that the PR team's one big focus was to make the conference shorter this year. We have been criticized for having a long conference in the past. So this year's focus was let's make it very compact and impactful."
During the nearly 90-minute E3 briefing, Sony dedicated only short segments to portable games like Assassin's Creed III: Liberation, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, and Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified. It also announced a new hardware bundle for Liberation, and confirmed that PSOne Classics support would be added to the system this year.
The PS Vita launched in Japan last December and in North America and Europe in February. By February's end, Sony said the system had sold more than 1.2 million units worldwide.

pitiful sony just plain pitiful if you want people to invest in your products give them reason! you want to sale 10 million units to break even and to profit then give us reason to buy! you only sold 1.2 million in your first few months that is awful for a system that is ahead of its time. price cut will help sell more drop the price to $200 or include a memory unit and you'll see sales rise but until then it won't sell because it's to expensive a ads is a whole $100 cheaper and nintendo saw sales skyrocket and they were actual competition learn from them sony. might be valuable

People who were at e3 could see how bad castlevania was, low framerate etc, and assassin's creed is an awesome game!
I don't want to sound as a fanboy, I like nintendo and if I had money I would have a 3DS as well, but I find my self coming less and less to gamespot due to their lack of profissionalism.

They should know that not everyone is on E3 to go and see the games on the floor, show the damn book, that
is a nice inovation and all, but come on, show us some games!

2 Like My issues with this article & GS : I open GS, I goto the vita page, click on 'all' category hoping to see details on games for vita which were shown on the E3 floor like Soul Sacrifice,Little Big Planet Vita, Retro City Rampage, Persona 4, Assassins's creed 3: liberation, Jet set Radio HD, New Little King's story, Sound Shapes,Sly Cooper Thieves in Time, etc. Yet the only article GS linked to the vita page from the E3 coverage is this bullshit 'troll paradise' which only puts sony under bad light. WtF is your problem with Vita GS? Do you hate sony? or you just want to post articles which create controversy and gets you more clicks?
5 Like This is why Sony continues to fail as a company. They invest a huge amount into the Vita then ignore it at the biggest game show of the year. Sony continues to throw away all the ps2 success that it built-up a decade ago, it's painful to see sony screw up and throw it all away.

1 Like The interesting thing to me is that while Nintendo now treats the 3DS as its flagship system (with the most exciting games and announcements), Sony still treats the PS3 as its flagship and the Vita is still the secondary system. I'm glad that they're finally going to get the PS Classics working, but they should have known that not talking about their newest console just months after its US release was a mistake.

2 Like The only misstep in an otherwise strong presentation. The wonderbook thing went on way too long. They should have shown more vita games. I don't have a vita yet but there are games out now and games in the future I want. Hell I'd buy one for Persona 4 Golden alone.

@servb0ts How long did it take for the 3DS to take off in sales? Allow me to answer that for you: about 7 months. How long has it been since the PS Vita released? About 3 months. I'm not a fanboy, but you need to give portable consoles time to take off, especially in the age of smartphone gaming. Instead of targeting the Vita with your discouraging words, how about you attack smartphone games, the real threat to the portable gaming industry?
@SpiritWarStudio did you realize 3ds sold 5 million units in the same time vita has not reached 2 million(3 months.-and people said it was doing HORRIBLE)? and let me tell you something else, Nintendo announced Mario kart so we KNEW it was gonna take off(and Zelda). And a price cut. Nothing of that is coming to vita this year. Sony said no price cuts and no major giga seller is coming(mario kart 7 alone already sold over 5 million copies). Smartphones arent hurting nintendo ,given that 3ds is selling FASTER than NDS did!
@SpiritWarStudio what you say is true but one thing though everyone knows smartphone games suck balls with crappy controls and substandard games. Everyone that is....except the gaming media.
Hopefully when you get a PS3 Blu-ray copy of a game, you would a free digital copy for download in the future.

7 Like Waitwaitwait! Lemme make sure I understand this right... Sony had 90 minutes to present their ear ahead and sell the world on all their best stuff. They bring AC: Lib to the table and give all the people like myself who didn't like the HUGE pricetag on the proprietary memory stick a reason to buy... and rather than give us a list of 25 other games which may make the thing even more worth buying, they cut back on the Vita portion of the presentation AND SPEND NEARLY FIFTEEN MINUTES ON WONDERBOOK!?!? WONDERBOOK! The next big fail accessory on the list which includes the Virtual Boy and Half the crap Sega made in the late '90s got more time than their MAIN PORTABLE SYSTEM?! What are the console makers thinking this year?! Sony ignores the Vita so they can try to kill literature with something Tiger games would've said no to 25 years ago. Nintendo releases a five minute video about the tablet controller and spends four minutes of the video talking about the buttons we've been using for 15+ years. And M$... I don't even have the time.
Seriously, console companies, PLEASE smack the people in your marketing departments. They are BAD! "We've invented this new ice cream that is sweet but healthy and cures Cancer AND Aids, but let's only glance over that and spend 15 minutes talk about this new vegetable we've created that looks like a brick of anthrax and tastes like sadness in solid form but has nice coloring on the outside." 6 Like just go a new vita for $199.99 at Walmart. I did pay $249.99 for wifi version, but then i received $50.00 gift card which i used to purchase a 16gig memory card. Not bad ;)

I thought the purpose of e3 is to show off games especially with the vita being released yet it was moved to the side. I was planning on buying the vita but where are all the games?

Well Sony thats pretty much how I feel about Vita everytime I see it on shelves - so just not worth mentioning.
Such a waste of time and resources releasing a capable piece of hardware but not realising who to market it at.
There is no market for an also-ran handheld console - come on its time to pick up the ball Sony :P

1 Like I have a vita and enjoy it. The system lack power in some areas like Apps (netflix, skype, Interweb browser etc) like all PS products its to pricy for the amount of games they have out. I do enjoy it more than my 3ds, but both systems are lacking in alot of ways. I am very upset that they didn't show more at E3, but E3 2012 wasn't that good. I am glad were getting ps1 supposrt for the system, but I would love some new titles. I'm sure gravity rush won't hold me off for 6 months...If you plan on getting a vita save your money and wait. its the ps3 all over again Not enoth to keep you playing. this is my Idea on all new game systems....just wait this is the 4th launch of a system that I had like 3-4 games and got bored within the 1st month.
