Activision announced today that is has secured the international video game rights to Minority Report, Steven Spielberg's next feature-length motion picture. Starring Tom Cruise, Minority Report is a sci-fi film that is scheduled for release in summer 2002. The agreement awards Activision with the rights to develop, publish, and distribute games based upon the property for five years. Games based upon Minority Report are currently scheduled for release on the GameCube, Xbox, PlayStation 2, Game Boy Advance, and PC.
Minority Report is a futuristic thriller based on a short story by noted sci-fi author Philip K. Dick. Dick is also well known for writing the original stories that inspired the popular motion pictures Blade Runner and Total Recall.

"We are very excited to work with Steven Spielberg, Fox Interactive, and DreamWorks Pictures on what is expected to be one of the most anticipated films of 2002."
Activision stated that the video game adaptations of Minority Report will closely resemble their movie counterpart with similar characters and environments. Games based upon Minority Report are expected for release sometime in 2002.
