Splinter Cell: Blacklist pushed back to August

Ubisoft action shooter originally targeted to launch this spring now expected late summer.
Splinter Cell: Blacklist has been given a release date of August 20, Ubisoft has announced. It was originally due to come out this spring.
A new trailer for the game on IGN lists that the game will be available for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
In Splinter Cell: Blacklist, a group of "rogue nations" have become fed up with the United States' armed presence in their countries. To combat this, they devised "The Blacklist," a series of terrorist attacks aimed at the United States.
Development on Splinter Cell: Blacklist is being led by Ubisoft Toronto, with Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Shanghai assisting.

Seems like Conviction all over again. At least make good use of the delay to bring Ironside back and leave the mocap to Eric Johnson.
I hope the next xbox is not launching this year, come on release it next year, this being delayed and the new Star Wars: 1313 is going to be released this year as well that was supposed to be released with next gen in mind.

Star wars 1313 is lame. Any star wars without Jedi play is lame.
The thought of postponing (the already far too late) Generation jump is nothing short of just silly.

@VenkmanPHD @kennythomas26 Oh I'm not that hyped about 1313 not just yet I just don't want to see a game that was shown off at E3 last year on a very high end PC and was slated for next gen and it was now rumored to be pushed for this fall. I'm also happy that Splinter Cell is not going to be released until August 20th and with next gen consoles I'm not quite ready for them if they come early then they do.

surely the new next gen systems will be arriving soon after if not august (xbox) ??? Or is this a good pointer that they arn't?? been a big fan of splinter cell, bit of a sh#tter its been delayed but hey if it makes for a great game i ll wait
@itchyflop I doubt its a sign they aren't. Games for ps2 were sold for how long after ps3 was out?

1 Like @Armyboy5 i know what you mean, i have three unboxed games and 2 xbla games i got from last year christmas promotions and i am still busy with dishonored. Hitman absolution was the bomb though.

I feel the same way a lot of the time. I have borderlands 1 GotY and the new (delayed till friday) Fire Emblem..., and I'm still not done with Gravity Rush.
Wish I got paid to do this, because it takes all my time anyway.

The loss of the amazing Michael Ironside not being the voice actor is enough to make me not want to play this. Unless its some well, put together splinter cell. Looks to be a double agent, to where I just have no interest in it. Eric Johnson just doesn't work for me.
@hazuki Double Agent suuuuucked. Conviction was awesome. And I only played the first and second on the xbox. I will miss Michael Ironside greatly. I can't imagine sam fisher without that.

Sam Fisher is a pawn for terrorist, elite banking cartels. Solid Snake is so much cooler and fights with more honor.
@Dredcrumb9 Actually Solid Snake has always been the pawn in every mgs game, he is never given full details about his mission and he is always used by his enemies and allies. Sam fisher on the other hand does not have that many back stabbing handlers ( except for the team behind Conviction and Blacklist )

SC is getting older every release. Last one was not bad but too easy and too old looking.

Mark and execute (press x to win) is a shitty mechanic. Also Splinter Cell is a stealth game. Amazing combat isn't really what I'm looking forward to.

Sam used to have an iconic voice so it's understandable that people get upset. For this one I'm willing to give the new VA a chance. We'll see how it goes.

@raweewat @dogman7 It was meant to be in the DMC article comments, sorry. But I will say SC has always been an amazing franchise, if people aren't going to play it because Michael Ironside isn't playing Sam Fisher, which is how it sounds, then it's their loss, not mine. As for the whole mark and execute thing, yeah, it's a little cheesy, but I'm glad they;'re catering to every playstyle in Blacklist and not putting one above the other. I think it's shaping up to be a great game and can't wait to play it. Also, spies Vs. mercs!!!

Dang it. I was really excited about the new Splinter Cell game. I hope they don't delay for as long a Conviction was delayed for...
Maybe they've received word that the new Xbox will launch in August and they want to release this game simultaneously on current and next-gen systems! Highly unlikely, but that would be so sweet.
@TheAgingGamer Very much doubt that the next Xbox will launch in August, that would only leave 2 months to hype games announced at E3. My bet's on November
@TheAgingGamer @Spartan_418 They will release this, then after the new systems come out.... they will release a trilogy of Double Agent, Conviction and Blacklist in 4K resolution.
