Superspy will work for both NSA and terrorists as "man on the inside"; PS2, Xbox, PC, GameCube, and Xbox 360 versions confirmed for spring '06; first trailer, screens inside.
Yesterday, Ubisoft revealed the new name of the upcoming chapter in Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell series. Besides the Double Agent subtitle, yesterday's news included the vague fact that the game would be coming in spring 2006 to "consoles and PC," and a brief glimpse into the game's now-not-so-supersecret plot. Today, the company came clean on the true meaning behind the name, and detailed some of its gameplay and platforms.
In addition to the PC, said consoles due for some springtime spying include the PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, and yes...the Xbox 360. Each platform will also have its own original multiplayer content, though online play was not detailed. The game is currently being developed in a collaboration between Ubisoft's Montreal, Shanghai, and Annecy, France, studios.
As a double agent, gamers will not only have to answer to the National Security Administration, but also to some nefarious terrorists hiding out in the States. There will be tasks set forth from each group, and Fisher will have to find a happy medium between doing his job for the NSA and playing along with the bad guys. If he kills too many members of the terrorist organization, he may give away his allegiance too early. But if he waits too long, their plans might come to fruition and millions of unknowing citizens will die.
Missions will take place all over the world, including Asia, Africa, and the US, in a variety of environments. Fisher will not only dive underwater, trudge through sandstorms, and stealthily sneak through fog and smoke, but he'll also take the plunge as a skydiver.
Today's news is a relief for Xbox 360 owners, who did not see Double Agent (then simply Splinter Cell 4) for the 360 on the company's recent financial report. However, there is still no word on the rumored PlayStation 3 version.
people sorry to say it but the PS3 has said they dont want a copy of Splinter Cell 4, so if u want Next-Gen Sam Fisher, U gotta buy a 360.
No PS3 version??? Hah! I don't think PS3 need it, because MGS was ALWAYS better!!! After all Splinter Cell is just good clone of Metal Gear Solid...
MGS4 looks cool and all, but I like more realism in my games. Honestly I get tired of going after giant mechanized tank after giant mechanized tank. Cant wait to get for 360.
Ever heard of System Wars? I love Splinter Cell and I hope they at least port it to the Playstation 3. It wouldin't really suprise me though considering CT came out on just about every console.
The 360 version will most likely be a more polished version of the PC version like COD2 was and the Xbox version will be the same but with toned down graphics. PS2 and Gamecube ones will again be the worst. PS3, probably but be just like the 360 version.
I love splonter cell and I can garentee you all this will be the best one yet, and if you want to know more about this game go pick up the newest game informer. I just got yesterday since I got a subscription so I'm not sure if its in stores yet
I'm the furthest thing from a fanboy i want to see all 3 consoles succeed i'm not the one wishing failure on a particular company. I'd just like if nonsense such as people looking at 2 screens that look 100% the same then some sony fanboy go as far as to point out a single line or a single spot on the wall so they can say THERE THE PS3 is better. I've seen similar trailers and screens and people still suggest that one is better than the other. This is probably just me out of frustration finally deciding to put the shoe on the other foot so to speak.
I've just gotten tired of people that without any information other than a killzone and mgs4 rendered in realtime scene suggest the ps3 is the better of the 2. And sony making all these ridiculous claims that they overpower the 360 which I'll tell you from the get go without the ps3 being released is a complete and utter lie. People were saying how mgs4 scene showed is only capable on the ps3 then hideo kojima (metal fear creator himself) told everyone that isn't true the same thing could be made on the 360, but better if he wanted to. You have people making ridiculous statements such as THIS PS3 screenshot looks better than THAT xbox360 screenshot or omg this ps3 trailer looks better than that xbox360 trailer so stupid. They both look equally impressive and I know better than some that in order for people like me or you (the ones buying the consoles and the games) to get the possible gaming experience out of our consoles there needs to be healthy competition out there for sony or else that'll be bad for the industry in general. Naturally tho of course you have alot of people hoping the 360 fails not aware that if the 360 fails and microsoft decides to throw in the towel on the gaming industry (which is highly unlikely) that'll be the biggest blow the gaming industry will suffer in a long time. Both consoles need to succeed, but i was just a bit annoyed that sony was making all these claims that they are more powerful without showing proof and every is buying into it and wishing the 360 to fail.
Exactly, the only way one could truly compare the console's power is if they've already all been released. Those who jump to conclusions too quickly (i.e. Optimusv2) are reacting foolishly. Hell, for all we know, the Revolution might be the one that out-performs the competition. We'll just have to wait and see, you dirty fanboys.
I dont think you can say which next gen system is better when they are even OUT yet. Everyone saying the xbox 360 is better or the Ps3 is better are just fanboys
reallaughinman i'm SUUUUUURE. Face facts the ps3 isn't more powerful than the xbox360 sorry to burst your bubble, but these are facts. Take them how ever you want to if you actually read you'll learn something. http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/617/617951p1.html The 360 version wont just be a port they will be remaking the game for the 360 and it'll be awesome. Face facts the 360 has far more general purpose computing power and the 360 gpu was more powerful EVEN when it was 330 million transistors now its down to 232 million so that means the final 360 gpu is even more powerful and the 360 has 5 times the memory bandwidth of the ps3. ps3's advantages lies in areas not important to games and a bunch of other useless options that can never truly be taken advantage of. Its so true sony has always been known to overpromise when it comes to hardware and what they've delivered was something that excels at playing videos. Sure the ps3 will be a great system and I might end up buying it, but umm when 80%+ of your cpu is dedicated to something other than what developers need most for games then that is just a joke. They call the xbox360 xbox1.5 when in reality the ps3 is simply ps2.5. They added so many stupid options on that imaginative stage ps3 of theirs 6 usb ports (overkill) 7 controller ports (yea stupid) 7 player split screen would simply own on a single television right? xbox360 doesn't need a blue ray drive the current dvd format they use will NOT become obsolete anytime soon developers will be making good use of the dvd format for years to come. The 360 can easily add support for 1080p sony simply jumped to say they can to outdo microsoft which is concerned about bringing the best possible game condition to the gamers stuck with the more realistic 720p, but they can easily add support for 1080p for the 360 no probs (sony boasting about 1080p when they have a weaker gpu and cpu in terms of the power gaming ACTUALLY needs most). Sony boasted about 51 dot products per cycle on their ps3 being more than xbox360s did they mention their alus are vector 4 whereas the xbox360's are vector 5s? Did they even mention the ps3 cpu doesn't do true dot product it simply emulates it? Thats like saying 1gig of pc100 is more powerful than 512MB of pc3200. Sony has yet to show a bootable system they haven't shown anything to my knowledge. The entire look of the ps3 screams (we aren't ready) Watch the final version of the ps3 look much different than what we originally saw and watch it probably not live up to the performance specs which (already underperform vs microsoft's 360)
There will be a PS3 version. Look on the summary page for the game. See where the other formats are? pc, ps2, ps3, xbox, xbox 360, gc...? Damn, some people need to look closer and pay attention.
another non ps3 game! ___________________________________________________________ u Mother Fu@#%rs, stop complaning about splinter cell 4 not being on the ps3. im not saying that the ps3 is bad(its was really impressive e3) , im saying that ubisoft isn't gonna wait or make a game for a next gen consle when its not even out yet. now they MAY make a special version for the ps3 (like resident evil 4 for the ps2) or u can play the ps2 version on the ps3 but guys understand that the release date for the ps3 is nearing the end of 2006 or the beginning of 2007. so please i know u want this for the ps3 but it will come out some time and the only reasion they got it for xbox360 becuase it was nearing the release date but its out now so they have it for the 360
Not into the whole stealth/Sam Fisher/Splinter Cell stuff, but the trailer is damn hot... and stjepanperko, I'll buy you a Spell & Speak for Christmas... dumbass.
Yea there PS1 and PS2 versions of some things. I remember only the bad ones though, like The Donald Duck game (PK somthing) , and (of course) Madden, Fifa, NASCAR, NBA, etc.... expect Madden 07 to be on Xbox, GCN, PS2, Xbox 360, PS3, Rev, GBA, DS, Mobile, and PSP. No, on the topic at hand, Im a fan of Splinter cell and I like the new way, but I know a few people turned off by the whole double agent thing, but hey This is Sam Fisher doing it so we may see a awesome game!
This actually sounds like a pretty good game. They are really developing the whole Sam Fisher story... Can't wait to get this for my 360!
I can't wait for this game to come out. Sam Fisher as a double agent, these games are always good and now with the story getting a tune up or make over, the game will be that much better. I'm excited about it, I hope others are too.
It won't be on the PS3, they stil havn't shown gameplay footage, still havn't given a release date, and still no word on how much that thing will cost (rumors say at least $600). All I know is, my PS2 is cool, but my 360 rocks and I can't wait for this game.
This will be the last porting over of newly made current gen games to next gen. It happens with every console release. Dont worry.
This is what concerned me about next-gen games. If companies are going to go for multi-platform with the "older" generation, what are we expecting for the next-gen version? Prettier graphics? Is that all? The new machines (X360 and PS3) are capable of much more, I don't like that they'll have to dumb down the games so they run on PS2/Xbox/GC.
prvtTucker I hope that the 360 version in not just a port....but it will be of course *sigh* ______________________________________________________________ If it is a port does it matter? I am sure they can easily swap Low Poly/Low Res ( Characters/Objects/Environments/Effects ) with High poly/High Res ones. After All isn
no there wont. the ps3 version will be exclusive and have far better graphics than the xbox 360 version.
Playing Xbox One games on somebody else's console will also require a check-in every hour. Full Story
