Three new titles arrive for the Wii's virtual console, including the classic platform game.
Nintendo has released three new games on to the Wii's virtual console service in Europe--Super Mario World, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, and Vigilante. Super Mario World and Vigilante were released in the States last week, and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link is making its Western VC debut.
Originally released in 1990 in Japan, SNES game Super Mario World featured the first appearance of Mario's sidekick, dinosaur Yoshi. Nintendo's side-scrolling platformer had gamers battling through a series of worlds to rescue the kidnapped Princess Toadstool from the evil Bowser.
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link was a Japanese 1987 release, and a direct sequel to the first game. Originally released on the NES, the game had "many elements that would later become essential features for the franchise."
Finally, Vigilante, a TurboGrafx-16 title originally released in 1988, is a beat-'em-up in which gamers play a lone vigilante fighting a gang called The Skinheads in order to rescue his girlfriend.
Super Mario World costs 800 Wii Points ($8), with Vigilante and Zelda II weighing in at 500 ($5).
diablobasher: You're right, It wouldn't be sound buisness for Nintendo to release Super Mario All-Stars just yet, if at all. I thought the same thing,really, I just tink it'd be cool. Some other games I'd like to see on the VC that I didn't write earlier on this page are: 1Kirby's Adventure{NES} 2.Earthbound{SNES} 3.Excitebike{NES} ...and a few others I"m forgetting. Only time will tell what games come out.
They should of released the all in one version with the remakes of the mario games on the nes. All stars and world I believe it was known as - my favourite snes game (s) :)
Ironman3087 playing SMW with the gamecube controller really takes away from the experience. i need 2 pick up a classic controller I hear ya! Same problem with Super Probotector, feels super clunky with a cube controller, perfection with the classic one though. 3D games like Mario 64 are far better on the cube controller though. They put the sticks in an unnatural position like the playstation pads on the classic and feels horrible playing Mario.
This is where the benefits of having a great back catalogue of classic games come in to play. I bet MS wish they could inject their Marketplace with such delights.

DKC was available when the wii was launched in the pal regaions, i wonder why is still hasnt been released in teh states?
From a business perspective, it's not a good idea to release Super Mario All-Stars, as they make more money releasing the game seperatly, so you won't see All-Stars until at least a few months after they release those games seperatly, if they release it at all.
I really need to set up my Wii like today. I've been wanting to play Super Mario World for so long. And my NES is on the fritz so i don't like to hook it up that often because i don't know how many days it has left lol. But i'm thinking i'm not going to sell my Wii any more so i might as well open it up over the weekend. Play Zelda and some Mario World.

Btw, Speaking of N64 games that required the transfer pak to play certain game features{mostly connecting N64 games to their GB counterparts} will these features be removed from the games that utilized them{Mario Golf/Tennis, Pokemon Stadium, etc.}? Or will the GB counterparts be included in the N64 games themselves? Same goes for the Sega Genesis's Sonic & Knuckles. I have mixed feelings about wheather, or not it would suck ommitting the features. Char. creation {story mode} was my fav in N64 Mario Tennis. Plus the game had so many cool looking tennis courts to unlock. I kinda like N64 Mario Tennis Over Gamecube ver. I wonder about all this...

Still I love all these games.

I won't be downloading Zelda II because I already have it on my Zelda Collector's Disc. I do, however, hope it makes its way to the states soon, because it is definitely worth playing.
Obviously, I can read here what new games are released for the VC every Monday{cause I'm here reading the game news almost daily, anyway}, but does anyone know where I can see a list of all the games avalible that have already been released? I wish Nintendo didn't require you{as a user} to have broadband to download VC games, primarily because broadband isn't accessible everywhere just yet, such as where I live. The majority of the U.S. is actually still using dial-up when I checked stats about this issue a couple weeks ago. To add insult to injury{for Nintendo}, anybody w/ some kind of net connection{dial-up's a perfect example}, can download emulators & the roms of their favorite games{100% of the game, just as if you had the actual cart.}and play them in full, and a few have home brew added features{such as on-line multiplayer, chat, etc.}. I sincerly wish Nin{abbreaviation, not typo error} would alter this for the better.
Is Europe gonna get Chrono Trigger on the Wii's VC? i really hope so, i have never had a chance to play it!

Downloaded SMW last night, but still cant add it to my collection LOZ II is not a good game though, only Zelda I'm not bothered about downloading
Can't afford anymore VC games for a while, i spent too much money on TG games, as it never came out here, so i have like 6 of them lol, and some snes games, no nes games yet though, i'll probably pick up Zelda at some point. Not buying Super Probotector: Alien Rebels though, i even emailed Nintendo and told them i would not buy it out of protest. Given such a great way of distributing the original game to people, yet ignoring it and going with the old censored version is just disgusting, so out of protest i will continue to play the original on emulator rather than buy the censored version.
I never beat Zelda II - I hope that NA gets it soon. Super Mario Wolrd has always been my favourite Mario - I downloaded it the moment it was released in NA.
