Serj Tankian contributes entire musical score for Bungie founder's upcoming iOS game Morning Star, due during spring 2012.
System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian has returned to games. The artist announced through his website that he created the entire musical score for Bungie founder Alex Seropian's upcoming iOS title Morning Star. The game is due out in spring 2013.
"Though most of the gameplay will be action oriented cues, the stunning artwork and static scenes have inspired unique sounds unheard before," Tankian said in a statement.
Tankian previously composed parts of the score for 2007 Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 game Stranglehold, which was developed with filmmaker John Woo (Face/Off, Mission: Impossible II).
Morning Star is set 120 years into the future (around 2132) and brings players aboard the MSRV-Joplin, a research vessel equipped with heavy weaponry. Players seek out a mysterious signal, and as is often the case, disaster takes hold and gamers are thrust into the middle of an intergalactic war.
They definitely have some good stuff. The thing I like most about them is they hate the mainstream and have no qualms about letting them know. And also their music isn't predictable safe BS.
Sweet, I just wish it wasn't an IOS game, Serj is better then that. I would really enjoy to hear more of his music in things, maybe in a bigger title or something.
@cfstar No, I stick by it. I don't mind death metal vocalists or punks with "dead cat voices" like Dee Dee Ramone or the guys from The Restarts. I really do hate this guy and the guy from Rage Against the Machine, though. Soooooo annoying.
@DrKill09 If you actually think that this... fucking joke of a musician in the video I just gave you has a more tolerable voice than Serj or Zack... Then I don't know what to tell, you should get a doctor or something.
Btw, Death metal is one my favorite genres, I love harsh vocals, the guy in the video is just a horrendous vocalist.
@cfstar btw, he looks like a hipster mime, lol
You haven't heard enough music if you think this. That's a fact. I've heard some underground stuff so worthless it doesn't even get so much as a cult following, it has absolutely no redeeming qualities.
Serj is an immensely talented singer, regardless of the rest of the band.
Try pulling off some of the vocals stuns he does at times and you'll see what I mean.
Also, Soad(Soad, not sod) reunited and are touring again.
@wgerardi But "Skillet" is a one-word band name... D:
@wgerardi Please do not expose your ignorance.
@DarthLod Soad is not nu metal.
@DarthLod As Csongli said, it says Serj Tankian and not System of a down, Serj's own music is very different from system of a down, plus the game developers has a hand in it too i would asume so he can't just do whatever he wants.
@DarthLod it speaks about Serj Tankian alone not System...
@DarthLod System are great, in my opinion.
@fyahbwoy1984 asfjkdjfkdsljfklsfjkl.....shake up. Why'd you leave the keys on the table?
