Free or not, 6 million is incredible.

I'm starting to wonder if games(indie or iOS) might be in a 1-hit wonder stage...like music in the 80's, after keyboards marginalized the efforts to make something.

6 million plays...Temple run2.  This is a positively-strange time to be alive.

Cool, lots of downloads - how much money did they get for each one? Oh it is free? I think they need a better statistic to measure success here.

@raahsnavj well isn't the major mark of success of a game, how many people who play it? Youtube videos are free too but there are a whole lot who don't even reach 1 million views

@Chaos_Dante_456  I downloaded angry birds rio when it was free too... I still haven't played it. Times downloaded is the digital equivalent of 'copies shipped' - no one should care.

I would chime in and say - good job developers! but I don't even know if they have broke even yet on the dev costs...

Temple Run was made by a husband and wife team, and have made over $1 million dollars in less than a year and a half.  They will probably make even more from the new one.  Know what you are talking about before you blabber.

I'll get it since it is free, then I may never play it.

If it wasn't free then the figures would be different.. Let this be a lesson to all those who charge us for games that do not require a price-tag

I downloaded it expecting a vast improvement over the first game and some genuine depth to be added to the game. Didn't get any of that. Just a graphical overhaul and some extra characters and abilities added that do nothing at all for the (quite boring, albeit with potential) formula that was already there.

Thoroughly disappointed. These casual games on iOS and Play Store are really doing my head in, I want games with depth damn it! If devs like Ninja Kiwi could somehow make a proper breakthrough in the world of mobile gaming I would have a lot more hope for the platform (Bloons TD 5 was ported so brilliantly onto iOS). But as it stands all these shallow games aimed at the casual market are wearing me thin.

@u1tradt you were actually expecting improvement from an IOS title? really?

@hella_epic Yes, I was. I don't consider mobile gaming an inferior form of video games just because the majority of the games are aimed at the casual market.

The competition is fierce for mobile gaming.

I downloaded it, since it's free, but I find it really boring.  The environment is good-looking, but there's only one (apart from the brief sections in the cave carts). It's just a rinse and repeat time waster with dumb achievements which make you spend money. I don't see where all the hype is coming from.
