Activision's latest web-shooting action game arriving for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, and 3DS ahead of movie premiere this summer.
The newest Spider-Man game will swoop to store shelves on June 26, according to the GameStop-owned Game Informer magazine.
An epilogue to the film of the same name (due to theaters on July 3) The Amazing Spider-Man will allow players to freely explore Manhattan as the friendly neighborhood superhero and thwart the sinister plans of "a variety of criminals" in a story penned by Seamus Kevin Fahey (Battlestar Galactica).
The game is due out for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, 3DS, DS, and Wii.
The game is in development at Activision's Quebec City studio, Beenox. No stranger to Marvel's iconic superhero, the studio began working with the wallcrawler for the 2005 PC port of Ultimate Spider-Man and took over primary development duties for the comic-based games with 2010's Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. Its most recent outing with the hero was October's Spider-Man: Edge of Time.
...I admit, that game was good. Let me restate the previous statement. "No offense to any fans of their games, but they could really step it up a bit. One exception being Captain America, which showed that not all movie tie-ins are bad."
at least it's not Sega. no offense to any fans of any of their games, but the ones tied-in to movies weren't that good.
this isnt spiderman at all. it kinda looks cheaply done aswell. random cool robots arent gonna make me buy this. im sorry. im not saying im sorry.
and i just watched the trailer...not happening, spiderman may be a truely amazing hero. but his 'vilian' in this is to over the top. to big and not iconic. he's almost a historical figure even, they should just stick with using the known enemies he has. if they'd have used the 'spider slayers' from the cartoon as a robot boss that'd have been great. but this random new creation is a turn off to me at least. no thanks.
I know its different worlds, but the creators of the batman asylum/city games shoudl take hold of spiderman. becuase like most, I can't recall a good spiderman game...I remeber one on the N64, where you could play as the silver and black armored spiderman, that was awesome. but past that...its very sketchy. here's hoping, but probably a pass untill its hits the $20 range. ...and even then...
I'll keep an eye on this one, hopefully it will be more like Web of Shadows and less like Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time. Web of Shadows was by far the best one. If I can't web zip from enemy to enemy I'll pass.
I hope this is better than the last few, I love Web of Shadows and like Ultimate Spiderman. Shattered Dimmentions was alright but only because their was not a Spiderman game for awhile, and i passed on Edge of Time. I need a good Spiderman game.
All they need to do IMO is to get Web of Shadow's movement, 2nd movie Spider-Man's open world, Shattered dimensions combat mechanics, add a little metroid/castlevania like mechanics, like in Shattered Dimensions (DS) and also SD's voicecast :D
I'm a little bit optimistic about this one, Although it's a movie tie and there hasn't been a good Spider-Man game out there for a long long time. Let's hope my senses are making a mistake
Last decent Spider-Man game I played was Spider-Man 2..and looking back, even that kinda sucked. I have no hope for this. When Rocksteady make a Spider-Man game...then I'm on board.
i think they attend to make all the spider man series for kids....like>>> from 7 years and on...they will eventually find that this is not working and start making the game more realistic like BATMAN arkham....
Those robots were made to mitigate biological attacks, even if they malfunction or are controlled by some, they can't bring such destruction. I WOULD RATHER PLAY THE FIRST (LITTLE LOGICAL) GAME, THIS LOOKS CRAP.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but back in 2006 or 2008 Activision signed an exclusive deal with Marvel (before Disney brought them) that gave them exclusive rights to make and publish Spiderman games until either 2016 or 2018.
The Arkham series proved that Superhero games don't have to suck. If they actually try, this could be a good game.
I wish developers can make a spiderman game like batman arkham series.A spiderman game which more realistic like in movies. As a great marvell fan I am waiting a good spiderman game for a long time
For the record: Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time Failed!!! Stop supporting Activision and Beenox for subpar work. Give Spider-Man to anougher Developer and Publisher so Spidey can finally have a 9/10 game. We're sick of Activision and Beenox botching every single Spidey game. Give Spidey the Batman treatment. It doesn't have to be Rocksteady that makes the games.
@KningdomHearts I was referring to Beenox making an open world spidey game, i know they made spiderman 3 but that sucked
This is the only spider-man game I have seen that looks relatively good besides for web of shadows, the last one I played was Ultimate Spider-Man.
That never happens in the movie!... We need some spider-man meets GTA. This would include stealing cars, shooting, and getting BJs from hookers... of course, that'd be the Black symbiote spider-man, but still!
Does not look good. I was reminded of Superman Returns The Game when I watched this, which isn't a good thing.
The trailer started like those magna japanese scifi-s, with all those flying robots, launching multiple rockets, the last thing i expected to see was spiderman... I ve lost confidence about the future of the new trilogy and games, if they are going to be like that, i m probably growing too old for this, i miss the old days dark flavor...
Another year, another repeat offering from Activision. I don't care how much they have in the bank, this publisher's a joke.
