The Last Story hits Europe February 24
Japanese Wii RPG and Operation: Rainfall target gets its first confirmed Western release date; still no word on potential release in North America.
After Xenoblade Chronicles finally landed in Europe earlier this year, Nintendo confirmed that two more requested Japanese role-playing games for the Wii--The Last Story and Pandora's Tower--would also be released in the region sometime next year. Fans won't have to wait too long for the first of those, as Nintendo has announced that The Last Story will launch in Europe on February 24.
The latest game from Mistwalker and longtime Final Fantasy developer Hironobu Sakaguchi, The Last Story puts players in the shoes of Zael and a band of fellow mercenaries on a search for treasure. Set on Lazulis Island, the story follows Zael as he tries to find an escape from his mercenary past to become a true knight. Unique among RPGs, The Last Story features multiplayer modes in the form of co-op, deathmatch, and team deathmatch for up to six players.
Along with Pandora's Tower and Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story has been the subject of a fan campaign clamoring for North American releases for the Wii RPGs. In June, the group known as Operation Rainfall organized a push to preorder Xenoblade (under the name Monado: Beginning of the World) on Amazon.com. The effort propelled the game to the top of Amazon's best-seller charts and caught the attention of Nintendo of America. While the North American arm of the Wii maker originally said there were no plans at the time to release any of the games domestically, it has since confirmed Xenoblade for an April 2 release next year.
This is great news. I actually soft-modded my Wii and bought the Japanese version of the game and played about 20 hours into it (about half way through the entire story) and it was fun. I started out with some helpful English translation that had been done on Youtube, but the person posting the videos quit, and I decided that if I was going to finish the game, I either needed to learn Japanese, or wait until an English version comes out. I just hope a PAL region DVD game will still work on my American Wii. Seems like plenty of people were able to import European versions of Xenoblade and play on American Wiis though, so hopefully it won't be a problem.
Xeno blade is the first step, its just a matter of time til the other foot drops and we here of a summer release for Last Story
Heres to hoping Last Story gets localized next!
For once in my life I can say I'm happy to be a PAL gamer. Can't wait for this and I hope they do a British dub for this aswell.
Bugger. Just when I planned to get Xenoblade Chronciles now this comes here too. Well, just gonna have to get both but first gonna beat Skyward Sword and possibly Skyrim and then I'll get those two games. Now the question here is the matter of time it will take for it to be announced for North America, that's if it does, let's see.
Damn...looks like I might need to get me Wii again. Good new RPG's are hard to find on any system these days. Wonder how many units XenoBlade must sell to be considered worth their time to translating it. I've been playing nothing but old RPG's that I've finished before. Just as recent as the beginning of this week finished Xenogears again, this time on my PSP. The game is still great & long as hell.
If you want this game to come to America then buy xenoblade when it releases...
@vickman178 Couldn't agree more with you. After all, Last Story was made by FF's father! He can't go wrong. As a matter of fact, he didn't go wrong with his last game, Lost Odyssey. I really wish we'll get that game over here. My Wii has been wishing to play again after a year-long hiatus.
I wanted this game more than xenoblade to come in the U.S...hopefully it does..I will be buying Xenoblade when it comes out in N.A..and as for Pandora's Tower I could really care less about that game don't even know why it was even included in the campaign.
@HollowNinja They think we American's don't like RPG's
Wow, that's earlier than I expected! Hopefully we'll get to see how the voice-acting is soon.
I think NOA wants to wait till it reachs Europe market so they release here without needing to redubb.
@v HollowNinja Eventually the game may come to NA sometime next year too that is if Xenoblade Chronicles sold a ton in this country by then. The chances of The Last Story and Pandora's Tower coming depends on Xenoblade Chronicles success otherwise import away.
Wow, Nintendo, what's with all the hate for the US?
YAY!! can't wait ^_^ at last a game that will get me to play the Wii again
I'll just import it then.
For some reason I read this as The Last Guardian and got very excited... Hehe, guess I shouldn't be reading when I'm extremely tired :P
Imported xenoblade will do the same for this.
I imported Xenoblade and I will import this along with Pandora's Tower. They will most likely be the last two Wii games I ever buy.
Nintendo could just eventually port this to North America. They won't but if they made The Wii U region free. Then people could just import games that are not in their region. But the Wii U is not going to be region free, So this same situation will unfold again in another 4-5 years.
this is a must buy for me xenoblade is awesome (like GET it awesome) but it was always the last story i had my eye on and to see they got co up too - that is just too good to be true seems like pretty much all games i want is coming out in february - what a month!:D
