The Last Story unravels August 14 in North America

Preorders from various outlets to contain bonus music CD and art book.

Publisher Xseed Games has announced a concrete release date for the North American release of The Last Story.

The Wii-exclusive RPG developed by Mistwalker will be out on August 14. Gamers who preorder the title through GameStop, EB Games Canada, or Amazon will get a music CD featuring seven tracks by composer Nobuo Uematsu. Early buyers will also get a 44-page soft-cover art book featuring the game's concept art and sketches, as well as a special-edition box.

The Last Story was released in Japan on January 27 last year, as well as in Australia and Europe on February 23 and 24 of this year respectively. The game was well received by critics for its narrative, visuals, and battle system.

I'm a little late seeing this but hey I don't mind since I now have a definite release date. I'm just wondering how long this will actually occupy me for? Hard to say, since some games I can play almost exclusively and others I can't lol

This is the third or fourth time that delay the date for the launch of this game. So frustrating, I can not wait to be able to play it.

 @DarkGothic It's not really a delay since there was never an official release date to begin with.  All those other dates were simply placeholders put out by Amazon/Gamestop.  August 14th is the first official date XSEED has given for the game.

I purchased the European version of this (since I play Wii mostly on Dolphin anyway), but part of me wants to buy it again just to support NA releases of great RPGs.

Am I the only one who thinks the fact one of the last North American Wii titles being released is called 'The Last Story' is funny? Seriously though, I'm so happy this is getting a NA release...it makes me feel like holding onto my Wii all these years makes it worth it. Now, PLEASE release Project Zero 2 here and I'll take back all the bad things I've said about you Ninty.

 @david1230 Yea that'd be nice. It looks like a great game and all but I'd rather not need to plug in my Wii just to play it.

really so just the WII is going to get a strong story based rpg? do you guys remember the days when these type of games would only be released through sony, ah those days, i hope again that since this is a WII game that sony should be able to remake this and clean it up and then re-release it on their console cause i'd love to play it.

 @david1230 Actually, I rememebr when RPG's were the sole domain of Nintendo consoles. Then PS1 and PS2 took over that market. Sony blew that with the PS3, which has an immensely weak library of games, but especially RPGs, compared to either the PS1 or the PS2 at the same point in their lifespans. And now Nintendo has reclaimed their reputation as the JRPG king.

As much as I wish you were correct, the PS3 has a pretty solid library of JRPGs (360 has Tales of Vesperia, LOst Odyssey, Blue Dragon and Star Ocean: The Last Hope all of which I LOVED and FF XIII and XIII-2 playing through now). The PS3 has all those titles along with Tales of Graces F, will be getting Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch and Tales of Xilia and has a few more obscure titles. The Wii also has many JRPGs, but the only ones I loved were Tales of Symphonia 2 (still not that great but I had a blast with it) and Xenoblade. I'm just hoping that the Wii U can bring over more of the exclusives that Sony seems to still have a hold of.

 @mrboone01 Ummmmmm, not sure how to take your comment.  Remembering back in the late 80's, Nintendo had the very first Final Fantasy before any other console.  From what it looks like today, all other consoles have *followed* in Nintendo's footsteps.  Sorry, but you can't deny that.

 @david1230 Multiplatform would be closer to ideal. But I can understand you: Wii started as a gimmicky console, and after the fad was to obvious they moved to this niche for hardcore gamers: good JRPGs. Almost wish I had one now.

Same day as Darksiders II.  I pre-ordered both back a couple months ago and never thought I would be picking them up on the same exact day as well.  After pushback's for both games,  now I have to decide which to play first!

Come on,  what kind of comment is this. I disapprove the vast majority of Nintendo's last marketing choices, such as releasing the XL 3DS after saying that they won't, but this game is gold.

already had this preordered, but this game has been slightly pushed back twice already, first it was too be out begining of july then end of july, but this seems to be the concrete date since they finally announced pre-order specials

 @suffering-evil I pre-ordered it when I bought Xenoblade. The constant pushing has been bothersome. Do you know if we'll receive this new pre-order package for sure?

 @KennyKB According to XSEED, ALL first prints should come with the special packaging and art book.  I don't think it matters where you buy it from as long as it's a first print.  I'd definitely pre-order just to be safe.

Already have mine pre-ordered.  I'm hoping that after seeing the successful sales of Xenoblade and The Last Story, Nintendo will decide to release Pandora's Tower in NA too.
