Fun fun, sure it maybe a game that's only been marred by a previous title that nobody liked, but depending on previews and gameplay, I think I might get this from my bargain bin at gamestop.
Publisher picks up Blood on the Sand from list of games dropped in wake of Activision-Vivendi merger.
It was surprising when Vivendi Games originally announced that 50 Cent would be taking on a Middle Eastern crime cartel in Blood on the Sand, the follow-up to the rapper's gaming debut, Bulletproof. It was not surprising when THQ today announced it had acquired the rights to the game.
Earlier this month, ratings for Vivendi Games' abandoned shooter 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand surfaced on the site of the Australian Classification Board, with THQ listed as publisher. While the company behind Saints Row and WWE SmackDown vs. Raw didn't 'fess up at the time, posted ratings information has leaked the existence of games and information about publishers numerous times in the past, with few errors.
Set for release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 early next year, Blood on the Sand sees 50 Cent and members of the G-Unit dive headfirst into a warzone as they attempt to collect payment for services rendered from a criminal syndicate. Taking a page from Gears of War, Blood on the Sand will emphasize run-and-gun gameplay and online cooperative action. And to make the most of its celebrity tie-in, the game will also include 18 new tracks from 50 Cent.
Blood on the Sand was developed by Swordfish Studios (Cold Winter) using Unreal Engine 3, the technology behind a slew of games from Gears of War to Hour of Victory. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
Not the best game franchise to pick up and continue. Maybe they were afraid he'd go all 50 cent on their arses if they didn't?
is 50 cent even that popular anymore? because both the 50 cent games rod/will ride on how popular 50 cent still is in the rap world. To my knowledge he has kinda disappeared from the radar so i won't expect this game to sell.
Lets just hope THQ is only in for the money on this game I know I would be hehe would provide more revenue toward saints row 3! lol
WHOA WHOA guys just hold on a sec...this is 50 Cent were talkin about...mind you 50 Cent: Bulletproof sucked but this might be Fiddy's time to make a comeback with 50 Cent: Blood in the Sand...people didn't think much about Fiddy'd last game but this one might be good!! Let's just wait for the new game and see what its like!!
It is seriously sad to see certain games getting dropped by publishers and yet crap like this is still being developed. Talk about going commercial. What in the hell was THQ thinking? They should have let this one stay in the recycle bin.
Hey Guys! Now when I say: "I'm seriously not a rap fan", I mean: Seriously with a capital S. But if any one of you guys have ever seen 50 cent's movie: "Get Rich or Die Tryin'". You might notice that ALL of the movie is done with either GOOD or GREAT acting. Now whether or not this will follow the same track record is down to how hard THQ and (I can't believe I'm actually typing this name, it's so lame but, here goes...) G-unit work and if the game is inovative enough. Now personally I wouldn't even prod(let alone, touch) this game with a 10 foot toilet brush, but I thought this was worth saying for those that are considering buying this.
Let's be honest...with such a ridiculous premise, this is a game that HAD to be released. I would never buy it, but I'll sure rent it when some buddies are over.
BRILLIANT business acumen THQ! Note my sarcasm. 50 is subhuman and represents everything that is wrong in our culture....which makes you a G-Unit thug accomplice.
How can THQ be smart enough to publish Saints Row 1 & 2 and then buy the rights to this sack of crap???
This isn't even news worthy. Anyone that is on this site reading this news is probably not going to by this bound-to-be crappy game. Even if the gameplay turns out to be good, there's no way the story or the voice acting or the music is going to be tolerable long enough for a full playthrough. --> and this is coming from a guy who listens to primarily rap music.
These people are so funny. In 2003 50 was the man. He couldn't be beat, no could say anything about him.(Even though I said his success was a fad) He sells 11 million copies of is first studio album, he topped the charts, every month on M-tv etc. He makes 400 million plus off of Vitamin water, 130 million off of G-unit line etc. Everybody starts to diss. Then his next album sells 15 million and he does a few movies and the infamious G-unit album.(Because the ablum would have tanked if it didn't have 50 on it, the beats are the worst I ever heard) Then he makes a game that sucks it sells 1.4 million bw(Xbox PS2) Then they make this game, and you all keep complain about how much he sucks. Well stop buying his records, stop buying his water, stop buying his close, stop seeing his movies, and STOP buying his games and he will go away.
"the technology behind a slew of games from Gears of War to Hour of Victory" So it has been able to make amazing games such as Gears of War possible, and also crappy games like Hour of victory. Hmmmmmmmm Well this game will most likely go the hour route :P and not great marketing for the Unreal tech.
This game...hahaha. And the "hate" is for the lousy "rapper saving the world plot" Its stupid. Famous Millionaire Rapper fights terrorists...think about it. Stupid plot.
He had one good song that pretty much any rapper could've done since it was the rap beat part that made it such a hit. But who knows with THQ, they could actually make it a decent game. Only time will tell.
This game would probably sell to tons of suburban prankstas that wear bandannas with their argyle sweaters or girls that dress like bratz dolls. The other people that actually live in urban areas or that are actually smart know that this is some straight up B.S. I bet somebody is in the works for a Souljaboytellem game. What kinda f$*!ing putz has tell'em at the end of their name? People like like push my people back by 200 years at least.
These games remind me of stuff like the Hannah Montana, Spice Girls, the old Marky Mark Sega CD game, and Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen games in that they are just fanservice games. No real thought is put into them nor any kind of decent effort. While this game is more than likely to be full of all kinds of god-awfulness, it will sell a lot of copies.
Alot of you don't seem to be a fan of 50 cent. That's fair enough. Unfortunately most of you then assume that means its going to be a rubbish game - as if he is making it himself. True it's unlikely to be a blockbuster but could still be entertaining. If I didn't like an actor doing a voice in GTA4 I wouldn't then go as far to say the game is a waste of time. Are we here to find out how good games are or judge them on who's in it? I'm surprised some ppl are saying this is a stupid move for THQ. How?? They are there to make money - this WILL make money. Look at how many million albums 50 has sold. Now consider the fact he is including 18 new tracks! Its a good business decision. Let's hope the game is actually good.
Fiddy's Fiddeen minutes of fame are up. He doesn't have the fanboy base that will shell out $60 for utter crap like they did with Bulletproof.
50 Cent is the biggest wannabe G I have ever seen. Why didn't he curl up and die like he promised he would when Kanye West (hehe) beat him for album topspot. I really would love it if 50 Cent was actually dropped in a middle eastern battlezone... see how G he is then
u gotta be kidding me u could take every page from gears an this crap would still suck 50 cant make games hell even his clothes suck, stick to being floyd mayweathers personal theme song u bumb
When this guy sings my ears bleed. Now when this guy will appear on the video game( though I will not buy it many ppl will do) it will make me take out my eyes with a knife.
Oh boy I can't wait for this game to come out! I'm so thrilled to play as my favorite rapper 50 Cent whose the greatest of all time he's so awesome. I'm going to play this game while wearing a bulletproof vest so I won't get the bloody sand on my shirt! /SARCASM
i played the original game for about an hour and it wasn't up to par. maybe this time will be differen't.
you forget 50 cent's like a freaking billionaire. he could buy THQ if he wanted too. they probly would have dropped it, but 50 probly paying them a tremendous amount to make it great. i mean, i wouldn't mind buying it if it was as good as Gears of War. hopefully u can alter soundtrack.........
