Tiger driven to Tiburon
EA confirms long-running golf franchise will now be handled by Florida studio responsible for Madden, NCAA Football series.
Golfers love the sunny climes of Florida, and apparently golf game developers do as well. An Electronic Arts representative has confirmed reports in the Orlando Sentinel stating that EA's Tiburon studio in Orlando, Florida, is the new home for development on the Tiger Woods PGA Tour franchise.
EA Tiburon is best known for developing EA's top-selling Madden NFL series along with another annual off-season juggernaut, the NCAA Football games. The Tiger Woods titles were previously developed out of EA's headquarters in Redwood City, California.
An EA rep told GameSpot that the move was made to "further establish Tiburon as an EA Sports hub" and centralize the company's sports games. With EA Canada serving as the home of the NBA Live, MVP Baseball, and NHL games, just about every game made under the EA Sports brand is now developed in just two of the publishing giant's studios.
The next edition of Tiger Woods PGA Tour has not yet been formally announced. Stay tuned to GameSpot for more news on the annual golf game.
