High Moon Studios follow-up to War for Cybertron featured on November cover of Game Informer, billed as a successor rather than a sequel.
Last year, Activision put gamers in the midst of a sentient robot civil war with High Moon Studios' Transformers: War for Cybertron. Today the publisher announced that gamers will get to see how that conflict ultimately plays out next year, as the developer is working on Transformers: Fall of Cybertron for a fall 2012 debut.
As the name suggests, Fall of Cybertron will take players through the final stages of the war between the Autobots and Decepticons and the destruction of their home planet. The game will be revealed more fully in the November issue of Game Informer, which goes on sale later this month and features two separate covers for the game. One of them features Autobot leader Optimus Prime and a dinosaur-like Transformer (possibly Grimlock), while the other shows Prime kneeling over the broken form of Bumblebee. Game Informer indicates the latter cover "reveals some of the darker tone High Moon Studios hopes to explore in Fall of Cybertron."
As for the game's predecessor, 2010's War for Cybertron featured two story arcs, one with the heroic Autobots trying to save the planet and the other with the Decepticons in destructive pursuit of power. In addition to single-player action, the game sported online co-op play, as well as head-to-head multiplayer modes. Game Informer has said Fall of Cybertron continues the story of the original game "but changes and improves upon so many of the fundamental ideas that the developer considers the game a natural successor rather than a true sequel."

the first one was awesome...now waiting for the second one...cant wait for it..awesome song in the trailer btw.
Very much looking forward to this if i releases on the PC. As long as they do not cap the FPS @ 30, they allow button remapping, in game txt &/or voice chat & anti cheat &/or players vote to boot cheaters i'll be happy.
@Hadiyan Actually This is not G1. This game is in a new contiuity which is connectcted with the new cartoon Transformers: Prime. But yes, the game is very much inspired by G1 models. :)
Maybe the game is not perfect ... but the toy alteration as Transformers United form Takara Tommy has the best Optimus Prime design ever ...
Indeed the first game KICKED SERIOUS @SS!!! I'm sure the second one will follow suit. Must buy day one for this gamer.
Arrgh!!! I can't wait until fall 2012 its too long, anyway liked the first one and the graphics nice, i love transformers model in this one than in the movies, its like the original (well because THIS IS THE ORIGINAL) with HD Graphics :)
In my opinion War for Cybertron was great. i loved the customization in the multiplayer and thought the idea of creating your very own transformer was awesome. I'd love to see the ability to not only pick the well known transformers but also your created ones. I do believe the customization could have had more depth though and i would like to see that improved in this one. Other than that i think this game is gonna be good and i hope to see more good news coming
Considering that Gamespot ripped War for Cybertron a new one in their review, I am hopeful that Fall of Cybertron will turn out to be a much better sequel, like Assassin's Creed II.
@DrRockso87 Dude get your facts straight, War for Cybertron came out in 2010 Fall of Cybertron comes out in 2012. 2012-2010=2
Ahh, good to see they're still at it. War for Cybertron was a really good game. I had the unfortunate chance to play Dark of the Moon and....wow, that game was something terrible. As long as they can make this game without shoving GM logos in your face every five minutes, I think it'll be great, maybe even better. Obviously Dark of the Moon was a movie tie-in, hence the shameless corporate shilling, but something tells me autonomous robots didn't come from other planets to show us the power of the 2011 Chevy Camaro.
I'm glad to hear the series survived past the the first release. I never played the first, but I heard it was solid. I'm glad to hear some more understated developers are getting some credit.
Activevision never learn there lesson and listen. Tramsformers never the way it was since the ps2 Atiari game. Activision going to go broke if this carry on same as spiderman ever sh..t year. in uk not selling well never did and has reason to . Activision sell the lincence up and let someone make better one.
@DarthVeng_basic Um... neither this game, nor its predesessor, are based on movies. As an aside... I agree with your (mostly unrelated) point. Most movie-based games are pretty terrible. High Moon Studios did, indeed, work on the Dark of the Moon TF game, and even thought I was impressed with their work on WFC, I took a pass on DotM because it was a movie tie-in.
WFC was pretty good, short, but good. As long as the sequel isn't rushed out to some impossible deadline then it might be good. And if it's better than the pretty average Dark Of The Moon game than that would be a bonus. And yay! Grimlock! - "Me Grimlock star of game, me Grimlock crush anyone who not agree"
@DarthVeng_basic - I often wonder why people post stupid comments when they don't know what they're talking about. Neither the existing War for Cybertron or this upcoming Fall of Cybertron are movies. War for Cybertron sold very well - most reviews were from non-TF fans. Anyone who has even a passing interest in TFs (which there are a LOT of us, trust me...) agreed that WfC was one of the best TF games so far. So that's how this game was "pushed through" - because the first was commercially (and somewhat critically) a success, therefore a sequel can only build on that.
I am so exited to know the story and if it is related to transformers prime (the cartoon) as i read in tfwiki they should be in the same universe i hope more people would be playing the multiplayer the number of players at the original was too little i blame gamespot for the 6\10 it deserves more at least 7.5
It is amazing they keep making these games when they are all, for the most part, extremely lackluster. I often wonder how on earth these people even make a profit and who keeps pushing it through. 99% of games based on movies are utter disasters, so I scratch my head at who how on earth they keep being made.
@ 01-cannon-mpc , completely agree about the dinobots. While I think these games are loosely based on the The War Within comics, how would they know what a dinosaur looked like on Cybertron. In the The War Within comics Grimlock was a massive tank. I think face ripper just saw the title and assumed it was based on the movies, didn't read the article and left a half-assed comment.
Yesssssssssss Please, please, please put a SunStorm selectable multiplayer character, High Moon.... pretty please with sugar and a cherry on top. This game is going to be awesome for TF fans. Love the figures from this line.... @face_ripper - what are you talking about? War for Cybertron was never a movie, and neither will Fall of Cybertron be. It's original work based on existing characters and ideas. The first game was good for non TF-fans, amazing if you were a TF fan, and this sequel looks like it will be just as good. At least think about your comments before posting...
@ face_ripper, sorry what? how is it based on a film? the war for cybertron game was an original idea based on the universe, story and ideas therein, so the sequel being a SEQUEL is also not based on a film, dummdumm!! I can't wait for this sequel, the first game was amazing, ignore the stupid reviews on GS they suck, this game was fantastic
Can only be a good thing if they add the Dinobots, they use to be very popular. I hope they'll be playable Grimlock should be most powerful :)
This sounds realy awsome. But as i know it Cybertron was never destroyed. It just shut down to clens its spark. And its realy awsome if the Dinobots made it into the game. But only problem i have with that is that the Autobots made the Dinobots some time after thay went to earth. So thay have no original cybertronian form. And i think i remember Megatron hedshoting Bumblebee and then thay repaired him and re-named him Goldbug. and in this pic there is a massive thing rolin around http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2011/10/06/november-cover-revealed-transformers-fall-of-cybertron.aspx Could be Autobot City? But a few tweeks and changes to the story here and there dosent bother me. Might turn out beter in the end sins earth dont realy have the material to build the dinobots. So i gues it cinda makes sens for them to change that and build them on Cybertron insted. Defineatly lookin forward to this game! =)
@Blackheart_RE that song is stan bush's "till all are one/ground zero" he also did the song "dare" & "the touch" for the 80's transformers movie... just hope this games on PC
