Publishers to release localized version of Korean MMORPG to North America, Europe, and other territories; no mention of beta dates.
The company behind Defiance and Rift will be teaming up with XLGames to launch Korean MMORPG ArcheAge in English.
According to an official press release, the companies will be releasing the game in North America, Europe, Turkey, Australia, and New Zealand.
ArcheAge lets players explore the fantasy sandbox world containing two continents and promises to remove conventional MMORPG restrictions on classes and skills. The game is developed by XLGames, founded by Lineage creator Jake Song.
The title has been in development for more than six years and went through two years of closed beta testing in Korea. There is currently no word on the English versions' beta dates.
Rift, although not necessarily the most original concept for an MMO is however one of the most impressivley well made and polished MMO's I have ever played and am still playing. Trion will be hugely successful with whatever they do as long as they keep up the level of commitment to quality.
@TheAgingGamer You'd have to specifically define what a "mental disorder" is or what kinds of "mental disorders" are to be considered dangerous. I am 36 years old and have Bipolar Disorder and Panic Disorder with Agorophobia which are both "mental disorders" so would that mean I could no longer buy video games because I'd be considered a risk?
I dont play any Trion games as they are not really my style but saying that they are a solid company and did pretty well with their first game Rifts..
I know a lot of people may not have heard of this game but it's going to be the best available MMO when it comes out. Been following it a long time and stopped for a while because it was only releasing in Asia. Now that it's here, I'm incredibly excited. It's the most unique MMO I've seen developed in that it's a sandox game that actually has enough funding to make it worth while.
normally i would get out my long ass stick and poke away a Korean mmo but if Trion is the publisher maybe it has some merit, i will give it a shot.
This Game looks very Promising can't wait to play it, anyone know what platforms this MMORPG will be released on ?
Wow awesome! So glad to hear its going to a decent publisher. I was worried id have to learn a new language to play this game lol.
My comments keep vanishing without a trace.
"I have yet to find a Korean MMO that holds my attention for very long. Sure, most of them are visually stunning, but that's a fleeting thing to keep a player invested."
They're all kinda grindy.
For whatever reason, my previous comment is missing in action:
I have yet to find a Korean MMO that holds my interest for very long. Sure, most of them are visually stunning, but that's a fleeting thing to keep players invested.
news couldnt be any better for archeage.... Trion Worlds is one of only 3 MMO devs that seem to be able to maintain a P2P model.
@Geminon And they're pretty damn on the ball with bugfixing - Rift is the ONLY MMO I've ever played to the level cap without experiencing any bugs/exploits aside from the occasional clipping geometry. And that was the launch build!
I haven't found a Korean MMO that I enjoy yet. Sure, they're usually beautiful, but that's a fleeting thing to keep my interest.
It seems like another generic MMO like the dozens of others that tried (and failed) to take down WoW before it. I really don't see this working.
