Capcom's Lost Planet is frozen at the top of the charts for a second week in a row, while football titles from Konami and EA round off the top three.
After its debut at the top of the UK all-formats chart three weeks ago, Lost Planet has proven it has the legs to stay in the top two ever since. Chart-Track reports that Capcom's Xbox 360-exclusive shooter has held onto the top spot for the week of January 28 to February 3, fighting off competition from Pro Evolution Soccer 6 at two and FIFA 07 at three.
While the top three games remained relatively unchanged, Sega's Mega Drive Collection (Sega Genesis Collection in the US) made the week's highest new entry at number four. Released for the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable at a budget price point, the compilation covers classic Sega franchises that include Sonic the Hedgehog, Phantasy Star, and Shinobi.
Further down the chart, Wii titles continued to do well--WarioWare: Smooth Moves jumped up one place to six and Wii Play fell slightly to number seven. Four chart stalwarts made up the rest of the top 10, with Need for Speed Carbon at six, New Super Mario Bros. at eight, Cars at nine, and The Sims 2: Pets at 10.
While the lack of new entries in the top 10 has let the usual raft of titles dominate once again, there are a few standout titles making their first appearance farther down the chart. Little Britain the Video Game made its debut at number 14, and handheld titles Star Fox Command and Rocky Balboa entered at numbers 26 and 27. Sony Online Entertainment's Vanguard: Saga of Heroes also entered the chart for the first time at number 34, with the EverQuest publisher undoubtedly hoping to match the popularity of current massively multiplayer king World of Warcraft.
Possible new entries on next week's chart include Battlestations: Midway, which is being released on the Xbox 360 and PC by Eidos, Okami on the PS2, and Maelstrom on the PC. Keep an eye on next week's chart to see if any of them have what it takes to dislodge Lost Planet, or if Capcom can make it three weeks in a row at the top.

iuns thats just so funny man so funny when you say ' theres no PS3 games in the UK chart''. We're still waiting for the launch in March mate!
Interesting, most interesting, although I would love to see the actual volume of sales compared to games this time last year. Once FFXII, Okami and GOW 2 has been released for the PS2 in the UK normal service will resume.
your gonna be seeing a lot of that over the next few months, 360 game toppling the competition, you mark my words. :p
and the funny part is i haven't even puchase lost planet yet..awesome news , awesome it gives me a reason to purchase one. good job capcom.. and a great job microsoft for giving capcom the tools to make an awesome game.
Impressive, but there heasn't been a big release since Lost Planet so that can give us a concluding asnwer. However BattleSations midway may change that soon enough.
Lost Planet is a shooter that's not for everyone. If you are into Japanese anime, then you have a better chance of liking it. LP is a game that doesn't require a lot of targeting skills unlike FPS eventhough there is sniping involved. The game appeals more to simple gamers who just want to shoot and blow up stuff than to solve some puzzles like the old Resident Evil series.
I think lost planet graphic is far not as good as gears of war, also LP game pace(except boss fight) is really really SLOW which I dont like either. it's more like a traditional japanese action game with guns.
Lost Planet's a great under rated game, I love Lost Planet, and hope theres a sequel released for the 360.
Cars? How did that get there!!! At least its good that a 360 game is at the top- thats the way it should be!
"secondly i dont see ps3 games there..." A console might need to come out first before people buy its games...
couple of notes for all you sony fanboys shouting 'ps2 still beating xbox 360!' one at the top of the list, yes number 1, is an xbox 360 game secondly i dont see ps3 games there...
People could buy SWAT4, BF2142, Serious Sam 2, HL2 but no... For an action game they buy Lost Planet.
It says it's an all-format chart. I assume it includes PC games, judging by the Featured Games. It's odd that WoW isn't listed if it does include PC games though.
Hooray for Lost Planet, got my copy last night, not played it yet though, bought Prey as well, played and finished that last night instead.
