No 1, how come there are no Xbox or Xbox 360 games in the charts? Not that i am a huge fan of Xbox just that i thought they were vying for the no. 1 homeconsole spot. No 2, Gamecube probably hasn't had a game worth buying released this month, and also in the Uk there are no Gamecube games for sale. In Gamestation there were 10 gamecube games...10!!!! and three of them were pikmin! No 3, glad to see DS doing well and PS2.
UK game charts: July 23-29
Cars ends Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories' five weeks at the top, and a platinum release of The Sims 2 helps it re-enter the chart.
After taking the UK all-format games chart for a five-week joyride, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories has finally relinquished control of the top slot. Its replacement, THQ's movie franchise Cars, parked itself atop the chart during the week of July 23, coinciding with the film's release in UK cinemas.
While the battle for number one has produced a new victor, the rest of the top 10 remains largely static. There have been no new entries, with Formula One 06 limping in as this week's highest new entry at number 14. Take-Two's Prey made a dramatic slide from number seven to number 17, while The Sims 2 made a reappearance in the top 10 at number eight.
This week's chart has been characterised by nonmovers, with New Super Mario Bros., Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow, 2006 FIFA World Cup, and Over the Hedge all holding on to the same positions as the previous week. In the post-World Cup era, with the football season yet to begin in England, Pro Evolution Soccer 5 (which is on budget release in the UK) stayed two places higher at seven than EA's 2006 FIFA World Cup, which held on to ninth.
Next week's release schedule is relatively low key, with only Sony's SingStar Anthems and Forbidden Siren 2 on PlayStation 2 promising to make a dent on the chart. With the release of Cars in the cinema, the game's chances of making it a second week at the top of the UK games chart look fairly strong.
