Zombie-killing Dead Rising snatches top-of-the-crop slot from gangster-killing Saints Row; three new entries debut in the top 10.
Unlike the shuffling zombies featured in the game itself, Dead Rising has raced up the UK game charts to take the top slot in its first week of release. The game knocks previous number one occupant Saints Row down to number two after only a week in pole position.
As retail tracking service Chart-Track reports, Dead Rising is Capcom's first UK all-formats number one in over five years. The fact that Saints Row sales slid 43 percent last week will be a sore blow to THQ, but Microsoft is faring well with three Xbox 360-exclusive titles near the top of the chart. With the arrival of Test Drive Unlimited at number four, the company only narrowly missed out an an Xbox 360-exclusive top three.
The game that did manage to break into the top three was Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy, despite only being on sale since Monday. The game's release on multiple platforms helped it chart high, and it's last week's second-highest new entry.
All these new entries meant that every other game on the chart suffered a drop since last week. The Sims 2 is still proving a winner, though, with the game at number nine and the Glamour Life Stuff pack at number six. Though it narrowly missed out on the top 10, Sony's Gangs of London made an impressive jump from last week's number 23 to this week's 11.
This Friday sees the release of Broken Sword: The Angel of Death, Tekken: Dark Resurrection, and Xbox Live Arcade Unplugged Vol. 1. Check back next week to see if Dead Rising has the legs to make it a second week at the top of the UK game charts.

you need to see the full picture, they are high cause they havent been many releases in the UK for over a month there never is in august and september, the PS2 still outsells the 360 2 to 1 in the UK. im not saying they are bad games cause i have never played them, but all you people saying that the 360 is doing great and sony is going down really dont know what you are talking about, also the sims 2 is in there cause it was re- released as a budget game at the begining of august
3 6 0 is in the house! And there's nothing sony or its fanboys can do about it. Face it 360 is popular(every were else but Japan except it!)
Robinvd, this is a multiformat chart. Lego Star Wars and Cars both have Xbox versions hence the Xbox has two titles in the top then.
Dead Rising was always going to be number one, but the fact that it is only on 360 speaks wonders as it is a multi platform chart.
We haven't all bought Cars you know! I personally am going nowhere near it, and the only game I own in that chart is Brain Age.
And people still keep saying the 360 is not doing great in Europe. The Top 10 chart speaks for itself.
even though it mentions a platform here the UK charts are based on combined sales. Cars is up there because it includes GC, XBOX, PS2, PC, DS, PSP and GBA versions of the game. it only needs to sell a few on each platform to make it into the charts. believe me there has been no mad rush on Cars. it's just available on alot of platforms.
dead risings a blast to play but ive put more time into saints row than any other 360 game i have had so far.
No wonder Sony's not bothering with a European launch this Holiday, the 360 is dominating over there - No they aren't.... thats ignorant how can you say that fanboy.... this is one of the few weeks that the 360 has some games on top, other then that DS and ps2 owns the charts and the sims and cars ofcourse ;)
Cars is a multiplatform title and that position is due to the fact that the UK chart counts all versions as one entity. US and Japan charts count the platform versions as seperate entities.
Good for DR and SR, right where they belong, but why is Cars still up there.... at least it's moving down, I guess.
Hmm Dead Rising and Saints Row. looks like the 360 finally got the killer aps they have tried for an age to get. I haven't played either game though so I wouldn't know if it's true or not. Nice to see lego Star Wars doing well. The first one was pretty fun. I might pick it up on the way home from college tomorrow.
Unfortunately, these sales do not reflect how the actually week from the 3rd of september to the 9th of september went. These figures are wrong.
m0zart ET is on the list for the top ten worse games of ALL TIME and it deserves to be!!! *Sigh* E.T. was on the Atari 2600, not the NES. And it didn't suck, at least from my perspective. It was one of the better games on that system. grognard, Sony dont bothering over there? First of Microsoft IS disappointed with the sales of the 360 in Europe AND Sony OWNS Europe. Its widely popular there. Dont base your opinion on a chart. Dead Rising is awesome but it take more than a few good 360 games to do anything.
m0zart *Sigh* E.T. was on the Atari 2600, not the NES. And it didn't suck, at least from my perspective. It was one of the better games on that system. Yeah, I wasn't sure about the console, so I picked one randomly, but my point was that it will always be a mistake to make as many games as there's consoles sold, because no matter how good the game is, never will everyone who have the console will buy it.
No wonder Sony's not bothering with a European launch this Holiday, the 360 is dominating over there! :)
Pretty happy with the list, 360 getting its props and the handhelds are still in with the competition. If only people stopped buying Cars...absolutely horrible game.
Why all the hate on Sims 2? Its a decent game that appeals to more than just the usual casual gamers and actually appeals to a broad range of gamers. The fact that it hangs on for so long shows that, it might not blow your mind with awesome gameplay or graphics but it is good entertainment, so stop whining.

No need to mention that the company went bankrupt. Well, the difference is that the ET game sucked. *Sigh* E.T. was on the Atari 2600, not the NES. And it didn't suck, at least from my perspective. EPaul its in there because there has been no good games for months here so it doesnt really take that much to get in the top 10 and for the past 6 weeks its been the holidays so parents buy it for there kids to stop them nagging. Hopefully it will be gone sooner rather than later.
haha Jason555 censored Hell. Funny stuff. Oh, and he said the games at the top of the chart are for kids. Arent they both classed as an 18 game? Well yes they are, as I own both of them. And i must say, they both deserve the high chart rating. Even if Saints Row pop in/out can be annoying, and Dead Rising save system gets on my **** big style.
