'Ultimate' Splinter Cell, Far Cry bundles spotted

UK retailer Game posts listings for Ultimate Splinter Cell, Ultimate Far Cry Compilation for release in 2013 for consoles and PC.

If recent retail listings prove accurate, Ubisoft will release two new "Ultimate" bundles later this year. United Kingdom retailer Game has posted listings for an Ultimate Far Cry 3 Compilation and an offering titled Ultimate Splinter Cell. Both are set for release in 2013.

The Ultimate Far Cry Compilation is listed for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (£40, or $64) and the PC (£30, or $48). The Ultimate Splinter Cell bundle is listed only for the PC and carries a price tag of £30 ($48).

The listings do not provide any further details on either bundle, and a Ubisoft representative was not immediately available to comment.

The latest entry in the Far Cry series--Far Cry 3--adds the free High Tides downloadable content exclusively on the PS3 tomorrow.

Unless they ditch their DRM, these compilations are worthless. And besides there's nothing really here to achieve by buying them. Both the Splinter Cell Trilogy (including the 1st 3 titles) and Double Agent are completely DRM Free and fully patched. The Far Cry 1 & 2 Exclusive Bundle (including Fortune pack on disc)  are also DRM free and fully patched (only the multiplayer portion of Far Cry 2 requires the use of the provided CD-Key - it's funny how they still call it like that). The only selling point would be Splinter Cell Conviction and Far Cry 3. Yet both are crippled with their DRM (requiring us to be online to install the games, Far Cry 3 even requiring us to be online all the time). Not to mention that even at this point Far Cry 3 is still an incomplete title. Also there are still a lot of other great titles available (some better in my opinion) to keep us busy, so both Conviction and Far Cry 3  could be safely ignored at the moment.

The launcher was realy the worst point of Far Cry 3, Im so sick of having to open another application before I can play my game I payed $60 for. Now adays you cant even install a game without steam, origin, u play and other shitty launchers, the idea of paying for and downloading a game is great but when I pay for a game at gamestop I dont want to install via some shitty launcher the instead if downloading a 10mb update re-downloads the fucken game.

You hit the nail on the head with the problem direction were seeing the PC market go in. Everything has to have big brother looking over your shoulder with always on/connected models etc. I hate it. I pay for all my games no matter what platform and I want to play it wherever, whenever, and w/o a connection if I so choose. I don't want digital distribution, I want physical. And I have no need for the Cloud or anything of the like. Big problem I see though is that Next-Gen consoles want to go this direction also since seeing the PC's success with it so far. We consumer's need to change all this by choosing options that don't perpetuate these models. It's why I've kept about 150 games and growing so I can go back to them to play if the future turns out as bleak as it looks for Next-Gen. Just my two cents though.

Still waiting for the DRM free versions of the Far Cry, Assassins Creed, Settlers, Anno and Splinter Cell franchises.

As long as their worthless uPlay DRM nonsense is in, my interest to buy them will remain near zero, even though the games themself may be quite good and fun to play.

I still have my original copies of all my Splinter Cell games, and  I would not need to buy this. I also just got Far Cry 3 on PC..... I would have to pass.

Secondary thought - U-Play and Origin from EA kinda suck, but obviously we cant do anything about them littering our PCs.... so not much we can do there besides miss out on good games....

another thought to someone's below, I thought Pandora Tomorrow was the worst in SC series, Chaos Theory was by far my favorite, and I liked Conviction a lot too, as I feel that the fast paced action only complimented the stealth, as there were times in the old games when I would ask my self, "why wouldn't he just go balls to the wall and kill a few lone soldiers?" as I got glitched on a stealth tactic and/ game mechanic and got killed crouched in a corner.

They forgot to mention the extra bonus software you have to install on your machine with the Ultimate bundles: Uplay.  I'll pass, thanks.

@Jaga_Telesin well 1.)it's not extra software you have to install. like the rock band music store in rock band 3, it's available on the disc, and 2.)if you're going to pass on every ubisoft game just because of a secondary and optional store, then please turn of your console and your computer, go outside and crawl under a rock. you'll be doing everyone a favor

A: if you can go without the online content on consoles you will not be bothered by it, but on PC, yes activation is a mandatory (un)necessary evil we have to live with (unless you get download a cracked version) ;D  

I booted up Assassins Creed 3 on my 360 (which wasn't connected to the internet) and wasn't asked to activate at all, go figure, I only bought the game for the single player campaign and not multiplayer WHICH WOULD'VE ASKED ME TO ACTIVATE MY UPLAY ONLINE PASS FOR IT AND LOG IN TO THAT PATHETIC SERVICE, just like it wanted us to do with Ghost Recon; FS (on the 360). 

Going back even further I remember all this crap started when we had to create an account just to play online co-op in Splinter Cell: Conviction on the 360. But now we're graced with the new diabolical phase of that plan: ACTIVATION CODES!

I think they've probably been making less money from all this than they'd have if this system wasn't in place, I doubt they're making more by alienating people buying pre-owned and reducing the amount of people who sell the game, as it will be worth less with a used code, and reach a smaller amount of people who don't buy new and are being excluded from the full experience. It just makes you look elsewhere to another company that isn't adopting these rip off tactics. ;)

@Fryboy101 @Jaga_Telesin UPlay isn't a secondary optional store, it's DRM in the disguise of an achievements system with crap rewards.  If you haven't realized that yet, get out from under the rock and look around every now and then.

@TJSpyke @Jaga_Telesin Yeah, I totally agree with Jaga. The whole thing is a marketing tool to keep you spending your hard earned moneys on Ubisoft content exclusively. I submit that you are the, well, I'm not that mean, but yours is certainly a short thought.

@TJSpyke @Jaga_Telesin those reward should have just been added into the game to save us time in having to " buy " them with points cause they aren't even worth launching the Uplay program to unlock them.

I liked the first Splinter Cell and Chaos Theory but the rest....meh.

I like all the Far Cry games but if I wanted all 3 I could have gotten them cheaper during the last Steam Sale.

Far Cry 3 has to be the surprise of the year despite being a AAA title. I don't think many people imagined the game was going to be as fun as it turned out to be.

I'd love it hd the original PC Far Cry came to the consoles as a download or bundle. That game is still awesome 9 years later.
