MOBA-themed eatery gets $160,000 in investment.
A restaurant tailored after the popular MOBA title League of Legends has opened in the city of Chongquing in the People's Republic of China. However, the eatery has not been endorsed by publisher Riot Games.
According to a gallery opened up by MMO Culture, the restaurant is called Demacia, named after the city-state from the game. The servers in the place are dressed up as characters in the game, like Caitlyn, Ezreal, and Twisted Fate. The menu includes deep fried scorpions, braised snake meat, and crab meat themed after League of Legends characters, as well as cocktails named after in-game potions and items.
About $160,000 was invested in the business according to a Chongquing local newspaper article. A representative for Riot Games told GameSpot: "This restaurant is absolutely not officially licensed by us and is purely fan activity."
it's time to sue someone here. first they make a theme park reminiscent of world of warcraft, and now this?
Apparently many of you have never seen the show Bizzare foods on the Travel channel. This is extremely tame compared.
The menu includes deep fried scorpions, braised snake meat, and crab meat.. these sound so awesome I want a plate, plz.
@Dogswithguns Crab meat yes, snake meat maybe, scorpions no thanks. It's not because I think it's gross, I just don't need to eat something that's poisonous. I don't trust other people enough to take care of it for me. I would try snake as long as it's a non-venemous one.
Asian people rule... They come up with the coolest ideas!!! Wish this kind of stuff would happen in the States...
@KaSeRRoR Actually they don't rule. This and the World of Warcraft theme park, and other places in China are done WITHOUT consent of the makers, are in direct violation of copyrights, and give NO money to the people who actually came up with LoL and WoW. They are stealing ideas and making money off of other people work because they live in China and know that American/European courts have no power and we "Cant" sue them.
I will bet the service there is great, but the community is horrible. Similar to how it is online. :P
If a person was addicted to LoL would they not just hit the drive through and go home and play as they eat?
@wezkilla That is because Ezreal is a girl... didn't you know?
@wezkilla that's caitlin lol.
"Riot Games has yet to inform GameSpot on whether this is infringing its copyright or not."
Of course it is. That's China's specialty.
