US Wii sales hit 35 million, games hit sales milestones

@ DanielL5583 100% without doubt. It's so cool,and has been so successful,you can almost take opinion out of the matter and say that as a fact Metroid is a great series. And I would like a post-Fusion game as well. Samus is left in a very big political mess at the end of it,and I'd like to see how she does with almost everyone against her.Of course,they'd need to figure out how to get Metroids and the Space Pirates back in the story,because they're actually all supposed to be totally extinct.Easy enough to work around I suppose,but it has to be more than,"A pirate escape vessel happened to dodge our notice,and they've set up a new base on Larrex Prime."You get my drift.

@Wormkid_64 I was wondering what happened after Fusion. Obviously, her Power Suit's stuffed to become the Fusion Suit, so... I dunno. Maybe I'm thinking too much into it. But hey, would you agree that Metroid is one of the best gaming series to date?

One more thing to say. They fixed their typo I mentioned several comments ago.Apparently "platforminers" aren't real things.Shame.They sound cool.

@ Hig1134 I totally agree about Metroid Other M. I didn't hate it.Stand alone it would be a great game.Doesn't fit in the Metroid universe quite so well. I want new Metroid game that comes before Prime 1. I want to see Samus put on her Power Suit for the first time.I want to see a Chozo before they went mad and got trapped in a different dimension. I don't care if it's 2D, or 3D,I feel the desire and appeal of both! I want one on both the Wii and 3DS,but either one works for me.Let's see a legendary Metroid like Super Metroid and the Primes were!

This is great news! Nintendo, you sure as hell know what games are all about. Not graphics, but gameplay. That said, some Wii games have amazing graphics, like the Metroid games. I WANT METROID PRIME 3! But I can't get it yet because I'm getting the 3DS...

@ boogiedad I too have every Nintendo console ever,except the Virtual Boy(Giga-flop).I have no idea how you have found such disappointment. But whatever.If you don't like something,that's your choice. I can't make you. However you simply cannot say what you have said about the 3DS.No one can,except those who have played fully released titles from Japan. You haven't played it. It isn't the same as the DS. Not just another iteration. It's an overhaul.New graphics.Until the NGP comes out,it will be the most powerful handheld to date,just outpacing the PSP.New capabilities.AR games.New connectivity.Totally upgraded experience in every way. Nintendo is finally realizing the importance of online gameplay. All of this means it simply can't be written off the way the DSiXL can(If you have a DSi,you don't need an XL). It's all new. It cannot be judged until it is experienced,and my only other point besides that is that there is no need to slam a company/console/game/anything you don't like. You can simply say so.

i got my wii 6 months ago. and i play NSMB, DC Returns, and fire emblem. i love them all. but my problem is that there are really few descent third party contribution to the console. the only future release that i interested in is The Last Story. i mean too few games. but i must admit that i love the retro feelings of the games. it is so special for a 30+ like me.

@BILLNYE6983: Nintnedogs is still this gen. The Lasy Story is out, but only in Japan at the moment. If you can't find Monado then search Xenoblade. It's the same game, but in Japan its called Xenoblade.

@Widdowson91, Nintendogs is a fairly old DS game... The Last Story is not out yet... And that last game you mentioned I can't even find on GS... If that is your list of new IPs...

@blancobo: I wouldn't say 70 million Wii's aren't used or are only used for body workouts. That's like saying 40 million XBox 360's are onyl used for their multimedia features. Plenty of people play their Wii regularly.

@BILLNYE6983: Nintendo have had more enw IP's this gen then any since the third gen. Nintendogs, The Last Story, Monado: Beginning of the World and the Wii range are just a few. I don't necessarily think its fair to say that Nintendo rely or fall back on Zelda, Mario and Metroid too much.

@nintendoboy16 I know it's going to sound really anal, but I don't buy used games. I feel like I am not contributing to the industry otherwise. But then a person reads that and thinks "well stop complaining about the price then" lol.

These are great news! 85 million Wiis sold worldwide, and there are like 70 million of these working like bookshelves or like weekly body workout aid. I have one just like that! Still into PS3 and 360!. Great for those that still like the Nintendo style console. I do agree that my kids love the Wii.

Martin_king they wanted to but the original creator of the series wasn't on board with their plans so they scrapped it. Frankly, without him on it I can't imagine the game being as good as the original or the 64 version.

even though it may have lower quality games, ill be playing it 10 years from now because of its reliability

donkey kong country is too hardcore for me ... the game is too damn difficult ... more harder than mario galaxy 2 ... but still, I want RPG and zelda ... My wii motion plus is ready ...

I love the Wii for something different. While I understand how it may not have the same appeal as a PS3/360, it does have its place. I am loving No More Heroes right now, and it's perfect for this system.

More Retro Studios, please.

@minhas27 Worldwide, I said, not US. Check it on VGchartz. Bulletstorm is a multi-platform game, of course it will sell more, I don't see what that has to do with it. Both games are good and your point is void anyway because PS3 gamers can play both. Either way, PS3 will easily outsell 360 eventually. Next time, read a sentence before you try to argue it. I have a Wii, it's good, but it's doesn't have half the appeal the 360 or PS3 have to me. Their games and exclusives are so much better. Even the 3DS is shaping up to have a better game library than the Wii.

Some people say only Nintendo makes good games for Wii. That's not true. Capcom and Sega make good games on the console. And that's about it. If nothing else, I want to see more old school titles remade using Wii controls. Where's Mario Sunshine and Mega Man 64 for Wii? Those titles would be great to play with motion control.

Jecht_35, People will probably never consider Okami a Wii game. It game out on PS3 last generation. Of course the Wii has good games. But most of them are part of long running series. People want new games. Nintendo community needs to calm down. You are the least bit ciritcal and everyone is voting your comments down...

I love the fact that New Super Mario Bros Wii sold nearly four times as much as Super Mario Galaxy 2 worldwide. (Yes I know the former was out longer but that's still a huge difference.) Nintendo needs to recognize that 2D is not dead and no one wants it to die. Give us a real Metroid and a real Kirby game.

what are you people talking about the wii has amazing games like Okami, super smash bros. brawl, super Mario galaxy 1 and 2, Kirby epic yarn( the name says it all), World of goo, monster hunter, trauma center, ect... the list goes on. I'm not saying this because i'm fan boy but because i do think the wii has amazing games for everyone to try.

@minhas27 Worldwide, Sony is at 48 million, give or take a little bit. Microcrap is at 50 million, with a year headstart on PS3. The PS3 will end up selling more, because it's a better piece of hardware, with much more potential. I got one of those red mario Wiis during Christmas. I haven't played it much because I really don't have many games yet and I beat Twilight Princess on GC way back when so there is nothing I HAVE to play right now. I buy all my third party games on my PS3 or PC though. I just see no reason to buy a game on the Wii over other systems. I want to get a few of the first party games though. Nintendo has been really lazy with new first party IPs though. They just fall back on Mario, Metroid, Zelda, etc. Which are all solid series, but how about something new? Wii has good games but I think it has the weakest lineup of all three consoles. Lots of people bought Wiis 'just cause' instead of buying it cause they like the games.

The only good games for the Wii are produced by Nintendo. When is the last time you saw record sales figures for Cooking Mama LOL

Both New SMB wii and DK Returns are awesome. I'm a PS3 gamer, but I bought a wii for these games. It's good that the wii is a different kind of console. If it had been more like PS3 or 360, we might not even see games like these. Probably just more shooters....and we don't need more shooters. New Super Metroid wii anyone? Come on Nintendo.....and leave team ninja out this time....although I didn't hate Other M like everyone else did.

@wormkid_64 you must have been on another planet while nintendo released countless reconfigurations of its hand held.. the 3ds will sell because its nintendo. but aside from the so called 3d graphics you will be paying for the same dsi , ds lite, or ds you should already have if your a true nintendo lover . all nintedo will shovel you is a bunch of remakes take your money while you try to convince yourself that its worth it. i have every system from the nes come str88t up. i still have my neo geo and 3do , gensis, 32x etc. i still have the headache inducing virtual boy nintendo shoveled me.nintenod games have become boring rehash. i sit and watch success and failure and has never sided with one game company over another because i like having different choices. but when i see a company with so much talent as nintendo give me updated versions of the same titles over and over i find it unacceptable

You seem to only think that games have to be in high definition and the sound has to come out of five speakers in order for them to be any good. And apparently there's at least 85 million people around the world that will probably disagree with you So how about you stop being a VIDEO GAME BIGOT and except the fact that weather you like it or not there are different demographics who like different types of games.

There a quite a few Wii games that I still want, it's just, I have a wish list, and when I want a new game it is the cheapest one on that list that gets bought first. Funny thing is, it is never the Nintendo games. Why the fudge are they never cheap?!
