Wii U 'not up to the same level' as PS3, Xbox 360 - Developers

it probably wont be up to the same level as ps3 or xbox but it will still be pretty cool and fun so who care about the graphics im looking forward to the exclusive games on it like i do on my ps3 

I knew this all along, the WiiU will suck, and i hope it spells the end for nintendo as a console maker. They wanna keep making games for Sony and Microsoft systems? sure go ahead, but leave the console making to the experts, which hasn't been Nintendo since the Unappreciated Gamecube came out. In a few years, Sony and Microsoft will release their new consoles, and once again nintendo will be a generation behind, ..it's a shame they didn't completely learn their lesson the Wii... oh well sucks to be nintendo i guess

Risks.  Nintendo can afford them, while others don't do the dance of the unknown.  This article simply tells me that the Anonymous are still seeking for Nintendo to meet their standards...it's flattery really.

I still figure a day when all N's "gimmicks" funnel into something beyond a virtual-reality platform.  Why, cause they can.

People seem to forget that the Gamecube was the most powerful of the previous-gen systems. Now that they're saying their graphics are next-gen, everyone thinks that its a lie because of the wii, which is not true. The wii was underpowered, but this Wii U is anything but. If you actually researched the Wii U's processing and graphical power, you would see that it completely destroys the 360 and the PS3, and if you looked at the rumored specs of the New Xbox and the PS4, you can see that the Wii U is pretty much the same as them. Don't judge something that you don't even know about. This is just something to bring nintendo down. 

I wonder why they are anonymous.. Maybe because nobody knows them, they search over the net for job vacancy's and nobody takes them.. Or they are microsoft / sony developers, (more like the same with the unemployed developers).. Poor them.. As every developer who got a dev kit in his desk and working on it.. says the opposite.. Maybe they also jealous. Big forums shouldnt post this craps as an article at all.. Except if they promote sony and ms products. Or else you should wait and see, after E3.. From what IBM oficialy announced, wii U is up to 500% better in AI from the current gen.. 300% faster and more cache inside the CPU.. Also there is a leak from a reliable internet forum, that Nintendo changed the GPU to a newer gen.. (5xxx or 6xxx).. After all, amd announced that 2xxx, 3xxx and 4xxx series cards will stop being supported. Its bad for nintendos marketing, to use a 4xxx series chipset.. Before it even released, to use discontinued parts. I personally will invest only in Nintendos platform (wii U), as I play PC games mostly.. I just want it to be powerful enough to surprise me in graphics and gameplay (quality games, except mario and zelda...) And not rapp it up in a couple of years, protect it from the dust.. lol.. 600-800 unified shaders GPU and 1.5 gigs of ram will due :-) As for the article, IS SOOOO FAKE... PS3 dont have unified shaders OR cuda.. AT ALL...... XBOX360 got ONLY 48 unified shaders.. It was the first year in GPU history, that a card have shaders on it.. So what this anonymous speak about?????? Also 360 and ps3, dont have tesselator in them.. As tesselator hardware feature invented from 2xxx series cards in AMD.. lol Simply ps3 and 360 are just dead.. But I do love to have a ps3 with "jurney" game.. thumbs up for it..

Well another hurtful stabbing rumour at Nintendo. lol I honestly would not lose my sleep over this. I will gladly wait for E3 for actual information, and ArsTechnica for more of an actual technical article about the hardware and its capabilities/limits. Think about this: - There are a number of well known game developers that have spoken about the capabilities the WiiU hardware. Epic, EA, THQ, Ubisoft, just to name a few - There are anonymous developers stating that the WiiU is unfavourable compared to PS3 and Xbox360. Outcome A: If the confirmed sources that have spoken in favour of the WiiU in fact lie, then is their credibility on the mud and for future references we should avoid their inputs. Outcome B: If the anonymous developers are lying then well we know why they chose to stay anonymous.

BTW the Wii's 700MHz is slower then Most Entry level Smart Phones - I'm Genuinely excited about the Wii U - But it's done the same - Go For low power / low price option - well it better be a low price option else it won't sell...

@superkiller007 The Nintendo Wii sold millions because it's innovative. Now since there are Motion Control Packages with all platforms - the Wii has sold a lot less. The Wii U isn't bringing new innovations - it's selling as "A Wii With a Bigger Chip"... To hear it's not even the power of an Xbox 360 is disappointing..... The XBOX 360 is on it's final legs - The Hardware is Crap in today's standards - end of the Year when Tergra 3 Debuts - it would be almost the same power as a 360. on a PC , cryengine3 renders Xbox 360 Graphics below the lowest graphical setting. The Wii U has to compete with the 720 and PS4 - not 360 and PS3 - The 720 is rumored to have a 16 Core Processor - Thats MEGA.... You have NO idea what your talking about.

Nintendo's hardware for the Wii wasn't at the same level as the PS3 or Xbox 360 when it debuted. It still sold millions. This will too. Nothing breeds success like success. Nintendo is trying to address any problems as well as they can. So give them a break.

These "anonymous developers" need to crawl back to the caverns from whence they came. I can't wait to return to planet Zebes with some 1080p goodness and CryENGINE 3 glory.

If you look at Nintendo's history. They have tried everything, from playing cards to 1 hour hotel rooms. This is a company that does not give up, but with that comes alot of products and services that people will lose interest in over time. Everybody used to look to Nintendo for the next big thing. It may be sad to say ( and see ) that Nintendi is returning to it's roots of Experiment, experiment, experiment.

That's just absolute crap "anonymous developer" says Wii U is crap followed by "Sony has the advantage" Couldn't it be more evident that this site is completely on supporting Sony as it always is. It runs the Cry Engine and a lot of ACTUAL developers have praised it. I don't doubt for a second that the PS4 and Xbox follow up will be more powerful, but as for now, i think the Wii U will do good. If Nintendo intends to bring out a machine that's worse than the current gen, Miyamoto must be dement or something, i mean assassins hired by Xbox and PS4 must have threatened Nintendo to make bad hardware, there's no other explanation

I don't get nintendo's current need to relinquish tight, responsive controls just to try and be origina. Yeah the Wii remote is an excellent idea that fell short of it's intended capabilities. Then they make a true next gen console a generation too late, and create a unique controller bridging their handhelds and the wii-mote, but you only get one. Everybody else gets to use the wii-mote. I just don't understand their way of thinking, they used to make systems and sell gimmicks, now their systems are the gimmicks.

Are you guys seriously going to listen to, as it says...: "a number of anonymous developers". I've heard actual game developers (Gearbox!) say that the Wii U is one of the most powerful systems to come. You guys really need to check your sources, and stop snuffing Nintendo just because you can't handle the fact that the Wii-U IS gonna be a lot more powerful than the 360 and PS3. I say that because, when the negative Wii U news comes from anonymous sources, everyone accepts it as factual. When positive news comes from actual well-known developers (THQ, Gearbox, CryTech), then no one wishes to accept it

Nintendo is finally seeing that their consoles are falling behind. The games are starting to become boring, graphics feel like gamecube graphics, and the Online system is garbage. The contollers for the WIi... ugh... Nintendo is falling behind. It's just going to move onto handhelds probably because console gaming clearly goes to 360/PS3. Though I am a PC gamer >:D

well I wish we could see it...will have to wait for E3 I guess, but am hoping it delivers. but then these same developers are producing only FIRST Gen titles for the WII U. wonder what they will look like to years in..or are they saying they've already maxed it out...

Next-Gen isn't looking so good, all in all. Wii U has low capabilities, and the whole one tablet per console thing is kind of a pain. Sony and Microsoft might lock out used games, no one even knows what's going on with the Orbis, except that it may not be backwards-compatible, which is also a stupid idea. Rumor has it the Nextbox won't even have a disc drive, and I think Microsoft is the most likely company to lock players onto the internet. Nothing is even released yet and all we hear is bad news. This bodes ill.

I wonder why all these statements come from nameless developers to me this is just bad press until we see the real deal at the E3.

But if it's worse, and it appears it is, I believe Nintendo is in a precarious position here. They'll have no competitive advantage, and they'll be HOPING people spend hundreds of dollars to buy a system that isn't really any better, and sometimes worse than what they probably already have. Finally, while they SAY they are bringing more mature games....we don't know what that really means. A couple of FPS's? Or as many as 360/ps3? 1/2, 1/5th? Is Nintendo going to make some 1st party style? We have yet to see how this shakes out, because it IS a big deal. Saying and doing are two different things. Even if they try, it not being their style, could cause a bit of a stumble. Of course, finally, since we don't have them in our hands, how reliable will the system be? It'll probably be acceptable, but who knows.

Wow they are screwing up. Sad. This thing cannot cost more than 199 or they are screwed. It's not all about graphics, but in a sense, it is. If someone is playing Madden on the 360 and it's better than the U's version, then there will be problems. Remember people, why by the U, if you already have a ps3/360 or both? Wii got away with poorer graphics because of the motion controllers. Now everyone has as good or better version of them AND more mature titles AND better graphics. It's not all about graphics, it's about limited resources in a depression, and what value is Nintendo giving you if you already own a Wii, PS3, 360? Let alone a pc? I already thought it was a bad idea, but maybe they'd get away with it IF it was a decent bit better than 360/ps3 AND was relatively cheap.

Nintendo did not deliver on the potential of the Wii. We all knew it was a generation behind but it was supposed to deliver a creative experience that would be unique in this console generation. Proper cell shading and other graphical techniques would more than make up for the lack of HD graphics. The motion controller had innovations that were never fully utilized (in controller speaker for example). If this was done correctly then we would be discussing the Wii U. Now we are seeing another console which will also be a generation behind and being that they cannot patent a tablet option make no mistake about it...Microsoft and Sony will imitate on this. I have bought every Nintendo console at launch but I cannot get behind this one. There are new consoles around the corner and any way you slice it the investment will be close to $500 minimum when you start adding launch titles to the mix. I am ready to make the plunge, but Nintendo is not a front runner for this next round.

Of course is not at the same level of ps3 or xbox 360. And of course the developers are mad at nintendo, because they want day one DLC and to block used games. I hope Nintendo dont do like xbox 360 and Ps3 do. And I hope Nintendo dont let greedy developers in their console. And Im not a Nintendo Fanboy i like xbox and playstation more but this things are slowly trying to think about buying the next ps4 and xbox 720. I prefer to play simple games that i own.Not licenses of the games that the developers of xbox 720 and ps4 wants us to have.

Many people won't care if the Wii U is "not up to the same level." I think most people buy consoles for the games and Nintendo is known for its 1st party titles. If everyone only cared about graphical horsepower, we would all be PC gamers.

I'm really finding it hard to get excited, or even mildly interested, in the Wii U - the Wii is the least-used console I've ever owned, I turn it on maybe a couple of times a year. Wii U sounds like more of the same with the addition of the tablet gimmick. This could be the first time I pass on a Nintendo console since the NES.

Since E3, they have said that it is likely that two will be able to be used on the console. That is still very vague and new news will come out, by the time of E3 we will know how it works and how many tablets per console will be able to be used. I cannot believe how many people let themselves... or want to... remain ignorant to the truth. Digging a whole in the ground to stick your head into is not going to stop things from happening... you're just going to sound stupid when you finally take your head out. To be fair, details about the Wii-U aren't set in stone yet, not until it's actually on its way to launch. But I wouldn't doubt that these observations are correct about the Wii-U, since I've felt like they've (Nintendo) been behind in the times for a while now.
