WOW TRON.. Thats one of my favs from the old school. I've been waiting for this game for the longest . At one point i was considering getting the actual arcade game. I was surprise that over the years it never appeared on the home console. As one of the comments stated you had to be there to understand the impact Tron was. Does anybody know an exact date for it's release. I see it says Q3, this is Aug (the 3rd quarter) and it's just about over, and I haven't found anything about tron other then this article.
Two helpings of the classic arcade games inspired by the film to be released "this summer."
The Master Control Program will be infiltrating Xbox 360s through Xbox Live this 'summer,' as two of Disney Interactive's titles make their way on to the network. The games will be released to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the original Tron film.
The first game, Tron, was originally let loose in arcades in 1982, and has players completing four increasingly difficult challenges to advance through the game.
Discs of Tron, which followed in 1983, takes place in a futuristic 3D arena, where players fight one-on-one battles against Sark, the defender of the evil Master Control Program.
The two games will be released in their original versions, along with alternate, enhanced, versions that feature new graphics and audio. The titles have both been rated by the ESRB as E for Everyone.
For those of you who don't know about Tron (the movie or the games) and its appeal, I suppose you just "had to be there" at the time. And if you're not over 30, you probably weren't there. Just to set the record straight, Tron was a pretty innovative concept at the time. It was also one of the most graphically advanced movies ever made. That point alone gave it a tremendous "cool" factor. Except that it never had a sequel, it was pretty much The Matrix for its day. I guess that to understand that, you'll have to wait twenty or so years to see how well The Matrix holds up to the passage of time. By then, some kid who was born in 2012 will be saying "That was the worst movie I've ever seen!" And you'll be saying "You had to be there..." :)
Oh gosh I hate Tron.. Why did anyone ever think that movie was good? It's the worst movie I have ever seen in my entire life, without a doubt.
The original Tron game is too hard. I can't imagine anyone getting that far in it. When it says increasingly hard, it's no joke. I haven't heard of anyone being able to turn that game over, like other games of that time period. Not sure about the discs of tron game, could go either way. And it better be cheap!
Not really a big surprise that they are releasing these 2 games now. Glad to see they are coming out now.
You have never heard of TRON!!!!!???!!!!! I can understand if you're still yet to grow hairs on your balls but other than that there is no excuse.
Was Tron Deadly Discs for the Intellivision a remake of Discs Of Tron? I use to play the Intellivision game quite a bit back in '83.
Discs of Tron, was the greatest arcade game of all time. The arcade cabinet (enviromental) is a work of art. Check it out on KLOV.com
Since when did they start annoucing XBLA games this early? Oh, since gamespot news became all about quantity over quality. That goal lends it self easily to sh*t like this article.
I guess when you have been playing nothing but the Wii the last few days and not the 360 you forget. The triggers would certainly work. Thanks for reminding me, RalekTir.
Nickfury101 "Great games, but i am a little weary on how these games will translate from arcade joystick to a regular game controllers. It's just like asteroids, great arcade game with the rolly ball, not so fun on console." I think you are thinking of Missle Command, asteroids had simple button controls, not a ball.
Awesome. These game may be before most of you young'uns time. I loved the original Tron game, but it got way to repetitive and hard after awhile. Discs of Tron was also pretty cool. I wonder when they are going to released the Tron movie sequel. There has been talks about it. Jeff Bridges was going to be in it with 3 kids who were support to be sucked into a super computer. The script got scrapped and I haven't heard anything since.

This should be fun (even for us who weren't around for the initial release years ago), but I agree with SoralinkGS, and I ask XBL similarly: When do I get to play Killer App? As campy as most of it was, it was still a really fun game!
Haha I remember these games being fairly entertaining. Throwing discs and racing cars in 3d was a good time.
Pumper Wow, I was playing Tron in the arcades when many of you (particularly the ones begging for Double Dragon) were not born yet. LOL! Me also. And Berzerk and Chopper Command and Frogger! Have you checked out 2old2play.com? It's a great site for us geezers ;) !
Bghattas, Have you forgotten the 360 Gamepad has TWO triggers? Bghattas wrote: "It can be done by having the analog stick mimic the paddle but how will you be able to fire your gun?"
I question how Tron can be played on the 360 gamepad. The arcade game consisted of trigger controller not unlike one you would use for a PC flight simulator and a paddle controller that controlled Tron's arm. It can be done by having the analog stick mimic the paddle but how will you be able to fire your gun? Discs of Tron could be the better of the games. Plenty of versus fun to be found here. Perhaps the enhanced version will have 2-on-2 co-op/versus play.

TRON! sweet...now, can we get Tron 2.0 Killer App BC on 360?? I have it laying around, waiting to play...I do have the PC version, but I would like to play it on Xbox 360 at some point...
