@AirBizkit89 I didnt say you dont know what good games are, but if you havent heard of Katamari Damacy, Beyond Good and Evil, and Psychonauts, im not sure what you consider a true gamer to be. Im not saying you arent, defining a true gamer is a somewhat ethereal thing anyway. I have no time to game much anymore (grad school sucks) but I still have a pretty good idea idea of what the critical darlings over the last 10 years have been. All of those games have showed up on best of lists over the past 7 or so years, admittedly they are all last gen, but each to their own. Personally, never been an MK fan, not even back when it first came out, also not a GTA fan (yet oddly i love Red Dead) but hey each to their own, everyone enjoys what they enjoy so in that regard game on. As for Pachter, he is still employed which means his recommendations on buy and sell have to be right at least most of the time. Im sure he has plenty of analysis that doesnt make headlines but is spot on. And if you ve watched his segments over on gametrailers, he has admitted that he cant wrap his head around Nintendo, and as a long time gamer and industry watcher, i really thought they were gonna fail with the Wii (which after the N64 and GCN wasnt a bad prediction since they had steadily given up market share). At some point I had a theme and coherent vision....whatever, just food for thought. or not.

@mynamesdenvrmax Why the overreaction? I mentioned global figures because I don't live in the United States, so obviously I'd like to know what happens elsewhere. I didn't even mention any console (I own all three, plus a few PC games, by the way).

@demonkingx5 Oh, ok.I've been on my PS3 online, while both of my son's were on seperate 360's, playing on Xbox LIve, and none of us have got booted, or disconnected. Not to mention my wife will usually be on the internet via her laptop while we are online also.No issues here.

@demonkingx5 I don't doubt that you had that happen to you, but why would I be playing online on my PS3, while in a XBL party? I usually play one or the other. I have watched tv on picture and picture while private chatting with a buddy on Xbox LIve.

Pratcher is a well known...and very often wrong. This is the guy that predicted the "Reveloutions" failure (aka the Wii). Said World of Warcraft would not take off because of the monthly fee. Claimed the xbox and specifically MS would not be able to break into the console market...and so on and so forth. Not to say he's always wrong...but you or I can guess just as well and maybe even better then he does at times.

@demonkingx5 Regardless whether he know his stuff, the fact is, what he says is his opinion and his opinion is not fact. Its like me saying 360 is king of consoles because it has the best library ever. Am I right and is it a fact? Nope its not , its just my opinion. Hope you now the difference fact and opinion because opinion does not equal fact. Actually i played both and i experience quite the opposite where the psn lags alot.

@godzillavskong play a online game on your ps3 while being in a XBL party i can guarantee you will lag out of the XBL party its happen to me lots of times & my internet is fine

@demonkingx5 It all comes to personal taste . I for one don't mind paying for it as its very cheap and to me the online experience is better on live than PS. The reason for include things like user interface being more user friendly , exclusive contents which some do care while some don't and many more. Do you have proof that xbox live users just pay for ads on the dashboard. I know recently, some of the money went towards improving the interface before kinect came out and then improving the headset voice clarity. i am sure some would go towards adware but it wouldn't be fair to say that its just for that. In my opinion i would rate steam > Live > Psn. Did you ever stop thing that black critic was biased towards live as he may his own personal preferences. I hope you do know the distinction between fact and opinion.

I'm wondering how you guys know this, and why it matters?I have no issues with lag on Live, or PSN for that matter, so I don't see where the dedicated vs P2P comes in.I've been paying for Xbox Live since the original Xbox,and I think it is a worthy service. @10679 1st i wasn't talking about the guy i was talking about how BLACKbusterCritic is right how live is not a better value than psn or steam. 2nd im not talking about individual games severs taking about XBL severs. psn runs on dedicated servers XBL runs on P2P severs. you pay for advertisements all over the dashboards that what the PC gamers calls ad ware. they make millions on advertisements on the dashboard that plenty to make XBL free. you are paying for cross game chat i can use a free app like skype to do the same thing on psn or XBL cross game chat don't justify why you paying. & note i don't have ps+. gamers shouldn't have to pay for a online experience. microsotf tried to make pc gamers pay for windows live & pc gamers gave them the boot thats when they drop that idea you can do the same for live stop buying it & force the to do something about it . XBL should be free that my point .

@godzillavskong In the EMEAA its quite close but ps3 still has the edge there. Overall the big difference in US helps it. Yea i am glad all consoles are doing well as it brings more awesome games to play lol.

@shadowhunter0 So you pay to get early access. Last time i heard , early access to demo i sonly by week . A week later everyone gets it on psn. You also get plenty of discounted games on xbox live as well as they always have sales. Even MS gives you some MS points for being a loyal customers and spending certain amount of MS points. Xbox live does give free games from time to time. Forgot to mention that we have exclusive content . I don't care much about it therefore we not know the full extent of the exclusive content. I know you get espn , some news channel , zune and many more So far what you have mention sounds like xbox live without the improved online experience , yet it okay to pay for that but its to expensive and a waste of money for xbox live. Kinda ironic lol. Nope with Xbox live , its more user friendly than psn. I.E. its easier to get a group a friends to play co op online or just online versus where as its a pain on psn. Plus psn members don't have cross game chat with is important when playing online. I can keep on going but i have a 1500 words limit lol.

@10679 Yep.I also prefer the 360, while I still play my PS3, and Wii. Selling well in the US really matters to Microsoft,because if they were just selling decently then they may have an issue,seeing as how they are barely making a bleep on the radar in Japan. I think they are doing fairly well in the other parts of the world, but it seems US is the biggest market. I really don't want to see any of these consoles do poorly, and I'm glad the market is as competitive as it is.

@10679 you don't understand with ps+ you get bunch of free and discounted games and dlc plus early access and exclusivity stuff has well I have saved well over $200 thanks to ps+ and that is not including the discount content that is just the free stuff while with xbl you are paying for pretty much what you get for free on the psn and I'm very happy with the psn I get more than what I want all that I want is to download games/demos and play games online for free with hardly and lag and that is exactly what I get with psn

@puffadell I am not a fanboy of any console. I like them all and have all but i have a slight preferences towards the 360 because of the online play and the library of games. Well that big win in the US does help the 360 to have more world wide sales because the EMEAA sales differences is not as big as the difference in the US. I meant overall MS is second with just the consoles or if i include the PC using your theory. You can add me on psn if you want. ID is dazh0002. @puffadell I don't know what you have been smoking but the ps3 is still third and will stay third to the end of this gen. You do know that handhelds are different from home consoles right??? Do you know what handheld means ?? If you do then you will know that handhelds are not consoles. Hence the different markets. If i were to use your theory then i can add pc to MS list and if i do add pc gaming than sony is last ryt lol. You don't see them comparing the sales between the wii and the psp. Its always comparing the ds and the psp .. Even the sales ranking for a handheld is only between the ds and psp. If they were all the same then wouldn't they say that nintendo ds is first followed by wii lol. Get your facts straight and if its hard for you to understand , then i would advise less gaming and more hitting the books :P . @puffadell First off, I do own all 3 systems. 2. Go back and re-read my post. We are talking about systems that stay at home that are pluged into a TV.. No DS and PSP are not what you would call a system. They are mobile devices. No DS and PSP are not of this gen. They are now last gen do to the fact that 3DS and PSP2 are coming. We are talking about what set top box that plays game selling more... The 360 is out selling the PS3 hands down. But once more, I want to play good games. Even if it is on the wii, the PS3 or the 360. I don't care about what sells. I care about what games are coming and what I want to play.

@demonkingx5 That guy was stuttering and changing his answers whenever teh interviewer asked him the same question. In regards to the lag, i guess it depends on the users because i have played on both and psn lags alot more and to me its less user friendly than Xbox live. The last online game i played was Unchartered 2 and that lagged so bad that it was unplayable where as Dead Space 2 or LFD2 had no lag whats so ever. The money you pay for xbox live is cheap. You are telling me 5 a month for xbox live is expensive really lol. I am sure you spend more money on booze or games or food or adult entertainment a month lol. Anyways what you pay what it is justified as the online experience to me is lot better than the free psn. I would easily give up playing psn and pay for xbox live for the improved online experience. He is a financial analyst and since he doesnt own wedbush securities it reasonable to say that he must be getting most of his analysis right bc otherwise his portfolios would be down and he would get fired. And most gamers, true or not, know nothing about the industry from a financial stance. True gamers love games like Katamari Damacy, BG&E, and Psychonauts, to name a few, in addition to the AAA stellar titles. Same group of people also bought a wii and now never play it. Or havent picked up a new DS title in months. Or will be holding off on a 3ds till games are out, or bc they are getting an iPhone and its a choice between a 3ds and a new phone. His analysis is pretty good, its just the shocking points dont play out. Also, generally, Nintendo is a hard company to predict, when they succeed its spectacular, but when they fail it is too.

pachter is an idiot everything he predicts fails saying itouch will kill 3ds because you can get cheap ass games like tetris and farmville get the f789 outta here with that oh wheres our wii hd too another bs prediction. the stuff he gets right are stuff you already knew aint that funny. how can this guy get paid to make postdictions when theres sooo many true gamers out their that actually know their sh89.

@puffadell We and they are talking about systems that live right next the TV. Not what you can take with you. We are also talking about this gen. What all 3 systems makers really look is, what is selling in the U.S. and places just as big as the U.S. The land of the rising sun is a small place. I did try and link something but the world wide sells show 360 in the 2 spot, wii #1 and PS3 #3. But like I posted before. Who cares. Own them all if you can and play some good games. The only people who should care about the numbers are the guy who made them.

@puffadel The psp has always struggled to provide any profit to sony. Not to mention its sales are destroyed by the DS. Just because Sony has devices in more forms of entertainment doesn't mean they are successful. Look at the most recent fortune 500, and compare sony to its competitors. Microsoft makes $14 billion in profit, while Sony has negative. The PS3 has great games and is a good system, but acting like Sony is some marketing genious is absurd.

@shadowhunter0 If you only want one out of 3, that is cool. I can under stand that. For a long time we only had PS2 and a 360. I had no need for 2 more. But my kids wanted a wii and then some good stuff started to come out for PS3. So we ended up getting them all. I will also say that We do play 360 more but we had it longer and we have over a 100 games for it. Yes I like live XBL better but i still play PS3. Not as much but at the same time I don't play much of anything any more. All I want to do is play good games. I don't care what system they are on. But if you only want one, cool. Microsoft isn't selling 360s that well in Japan, but they seem to be doing ok here, so I guess it may not matter anymore if you don't win over Japan.Maybe if it didn't sell that well here then it would be a issue, but so far so good.

I got an atari 2600 when I was like 7 years old. I remember arguing with my friend that had "intellivision" on which was better. Then it was colecovision vs. atari 5200 vs. vectrex. then it was sega master system vs. nintendo nes. then it was genesis vs. turbographix vs. super nintendo. Now that im a grown a.s.s. man, i bought both the ps3 and the xbox...because I went to college, got a real job, and make money. the people that are fanboys are usually little kids that cant afford both systems or are just...stupid. Honestly, i want all consoles to do well. I own ALOT of microsoft and apple stock, so I have a reason to want MS to do well, but I like my ps3 too. fanboys....CHILL OUT. or go buy stock in the company that you want to do well.

I initially purchased a Samsung Bluray player, simply because the PS3 didn't really interest me at first, but since last year, when they started getting most of their very good,solid titles released, I had to break down and purchase one. Its ok to have console preferences I think, but some people take it to far, as if to swear alliance to one, or the other.
