These sales numbers can clearly be attributed to the Kinect and the massive list of great quality games that stem from this futuristic-perfected technology. Sony only wishes they came out with a polished tech such as the kinect.
Xbox 360 was best-selling US console in December

Microsoft says this marks the 24th consecutive month in which the console has come out on top; 1.4 million consoles sold in December.
Microsoft has announced that its Xbox 360 console ended 2012 as the number one console in terms of units sold in the US.
According to the publisher, the Xbox 360 sold 1.4 million units in December.
Microsoft says this number is more than double the amount of the second-place console, and marks the 24th consecutive month that the 360 has been on top. Microsoft listed the NPD Group as a source for the latter statistic.
The publisher also announced that more than $1.27 billion was spent on Xbox 360 retail in December, including hardware, software, and accessories.
Today it was also revealed that Call of Duty: Black Ops II was the country's best-selling game for December and all of 2012, marking the fourth consecutive year in which a Call of Duty game has been the top-selling title.

3 Like I own both consoles and I MUST admit, the Xbox 360 performs better in multi platform games compared to the PS3. I have personally verified dozens of games on both platforms (not exclusives) and the winner is the 360. The PS3 is disappointing from that angle. Having said that, this news hardly surprises me. The Xbox 360 is an American product through and through. It's only obvious the US has seen more sales of the 360. Also, if you are a person who plays a lot online, then the 360 is the better option than the PS3. So of course the 360 will fare better in the US. Having said that, these are stats for a SINGLE country. The 360 does not do well in some parts of Europe and much of Asia. The PS3 rules roost in those regions. Like I said, I own both systems and my personal choice is the Xbox 360. Oh btw, I am not an American.

1 Like @Phazevariance The PS3 has: Demon Souls, Uncharted, God Of War, Infamous, Gran Turismo, Ratchet and Clank, Resistance, Killzone, Metal Gear Solid, The Last Of Us, LittleBigPlanet, and Beyond: Two Souls VS The Xbox 360 Halo, Gears Of War, Fable, Forza Motorsport. Why would you even use the PS3 as a Blu-Ray player you can buy a cheap Blu-Ray player for like $100 or less.

Also I never said I used it as my bluray player, I use it to stream shows and movies. PC is where it's at, Xbox has more selection of games overall (that just run better than the ps3 counterpart).
@Phazevariance Uncharted, God of War, and Heavy Rain. Ps3, imo, has better exclusives. I would say 3rd party games Xbox 360

1 Like i don't know maybe it had to do with the fact halo 4 is nothing short of amazing. with price tag on 360, its surely a good reason to pick it up. i got both ps3 and xbox, best of both world. one has the superior online service(only downside you have to pay) and other has better exclusives.
now wii that is a sad console, bought it, got bored in a month and sold it. me dun not want wii -_-

1 Like @TheOnlyConan Why must people bring up PCs all the time. I stopped gaming on a PC as I was sick of the crap that goes along with it. DRM, different specs for different games, unknown errors. No thanks, nothing beats the ease of popping the disc in and just playing.
4 Like @Lordcrabfood Click the game icon, launch the game, game loads and play way faster than any console. I don't think I had a problem with a game in the last 8 years on pc. Of course, I know how to build a good one and it makes all the difference.

@Metronoid i knew the kinect was never going to be my cup of tea. sure one or two games were promised that kind of piqued my interest but i wasnt surprised at all when they never surfaced and besides, i wasnt going to buy a kinect just for one or two games. dont get me wrong, i love my 360, but i despise the kinect. i hate it because it reminds me of the wii, not because of the way it controls but because of the whole concept behind the device and who it caters to.
@KimCheeWarriorX @Metronoid ...the vocal commands on Kinect are amazing and those actually work. It takes you away from the menus (Skyrim, Mass Effect 3) and keeps you into the action. I agree with everyone else though Kinect shouldn't be required for vocal commands...
2 Like I'm still waiting to see if it's worth getting a 360. They haven't exactly earned a good rep. The slim seems to be a little more reliable, but I'm pretty satisfied with my PS3. It has some good exclusives and PSN is great and I can download alot of the old PS1 and 2 games. I've been with Sony since the PS1. There was no reason for me not to get a PS3. I've always wanted to play the other Halo games besides the 1st and the Gears Of War series. I don't understand why people have to stick with just one console and hate the other one. I have a Wii, which I use to download and play old-school nintendo games. That's got great exclusives, too. People just love to hate. Wow.

@scaperat1 I totally agree, i've been enjoying my xbox 360 for the last 7 years but when next gen gets here and current gen drops in price I'm bying myself a ps3. In my eyes console fanboys aren't true gamers cause what real gamer would want to deprive himself of great exclusives just for some allegiance to a piece of hardware.
We all know that the Xbox 360 is popular in the USA, but when you look at the europe sales the PS3 almost outnumbers the xbox 360 by 4/5 to 1.
