Zoo Tycoon shop cuts entire dev staff - Report

That is very sad. :( I didn't even know they were in MA and that's where I live! Goodluck to the devs. Zoo Tycoon was a fun game!

This sucks Zoo Tycoon was a fun game. I am currently unemployed, going on my 4th year in the media,film & game industry. love stories like this it keeps me motivated...:-

So if they are cutting their entire development staff I guess the only thing they have left is maintaining their Facebook games?

E-i-N-e: LOL, because that was just sooo long ago...

I loved zoo tycoon 2, I spent lots of hours watching the grizzly bears escape from their habitat and chase after the zoo visitors. I feel sad to see the devs behind it laid off.

Zoo Tycoon is one of my favorite games of all time. I played it all the time when I was a kid, and I still play it once in awhile. Sad to see the company behind it is facing tough times. Hopefully they won't become the next Ensemble Studios.

I'm going to wait for Zoo Tycoon 3 FOREVER! :.(

Black Rock deserved it... Though Split/Second was a great game (in the beginning), once you begin to get to the middle, everything's dull (just the same routine)....

You know they won't be reopening in MA if they do.

Aw bummer, I really like Zoo Tycoon. I dunno how many ours I spent playing the first one, loved it.

I expect if you look at the job ads in India there is a good chance you will find some help wanted ads for some game developers with experience to work on PC games for an amazing rate of $9 an hour!!!! You want to find a 'new position' in programming over the next 15-20 years... move to India!

wow they're in waltham? i had no idea they were in mass. that's like 15 minutes away from me! the next town over there's Rockstar Games and before it went out of business, Stainless Steel Studios was also a 10-20 minute drive

It's not as simple as "bad economy." These type of experienced studios can easily be picked up during a fire sale by companies such as Zynga. It could be a way to re-structure the company by shedding the previous baggage. Don't be surprised if these guys form a few studio in a few month with secured investments.

Damn, I love the Zoo Tycoon games and hope they make a new one. Shame that's not gonna come true now

Zoo tycoon one of the best games in history of gaming

I really liked Zoo Tycoon 2 and ALL it's expansions. And I hoped for a Zoo Tycoon 3 to come sooner or later. :( Oh well.

Zoo Tycoon 2 is one of my favourite games. I loved the Endangered, African and Marine add-ons, but I hated the last one with the dinosaurs. That was just trippin'!

So many small companies are cutting back employees these past few years. As someone who wants a future in the gaming world and will even be majoring in game development next fall, I fear how bleak the job market for game dev's etc. will be if it continues down this slippery slope. I hope to see a quick turn around in the gaming market. I wish to see new life in the gaming field in the form of new companies as well as the expansion and development of current and new companies alike. Long live the Gaming Revolution.

Of course they laid them off- because they programmed intelligent games! Publishers only want dumb games now - thinking that means everybody will buy them, and, of course, we won't!

its funny how many dev know how to run a business.... none do. i am sorry but saying we only make video games is like shooting yourself in the foot. it makes no sense.

Nooo, instead they should make Zoo Tycoon 3 and make it more challenging, the first zoo tycoon was hard imo. While Zoo Tycoon 2, while it looked nice and some of the animals looked real cute, it was just too easy.

What they need to do is, instead of cutting studios, they should merge them. Prison-Zoo Tycoon anyone?

I liked the first one, Even though I only played it once at a friends house. Letting out the tigers was fun.

Eh, Zoo tycoon wasnt too good.......but its somewhat sad to see them go....
