Nintendo corporations have been improving on their consoles over the years, and I have to say that the Wii was a huge success. Although the Wii has its faults, it's still good enough to attract hardcore and casual gamers alike.
Pros: (plus 8.5)
*huge backward compatibility (can play NES, SNES, N64,
Gamecube and other non-Nintendo games like Sega Dreamcast)
*has a large library of casual and hardcore games (ex: casual game: Mario Party 8 and hardcore game: The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess)
*has free internet and Wi-Fi to certain games
*can support Gamecube and classic controllers as well
*controllers and console itself is portable and lightweight
*not that expensive to buy
*can create and use avatars (miis) to certain Wii games
*has Gamecube memory card slots
Cons: (minus 1.5)
*graphics are not up to par with XBox 360 and Playstation 3
*internet channel slows down sometimes and freezes up
*lots of casual Non-Nintendo Wii games were poorly developed (ex. Ninjabread man)
Although Nintendo corporations didn't upgrade on the graphics, most of the games can be enjoyable by hardcore and casual gamers. Casual gamers should stick to Nintendo' exclusive games. Some of the successful hardcore games are Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess, Call of Duty, Resident Evil, and many more. Overall, the Wii is still innovative, and I would recommend it to just about anybody.

The Wii--like all of Nintendo's previous consoles before it--is worth owning especially alongside a PS3 or an Xbox 360.
