Well after a few bumps in the road we're finally ready to announce the results! But before we get to the good part, let's give you our thoughts on your reviews!

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas by Opitow.

Very to the point and concise. It made for easy reading and got to the
point in a simple yet effective way. Perhaps it could have been a
little more detailed to give the reader a better idea of the game, but
overall a good review!

Half-Life by Aberinkulas

It certainly would have been better to hear more information about the
game---I'm kidding! A fantastic read and review. Through personal
experience and memories you manage to paint a strong picture of what
Half-Life is like, while also giving us a bit of a history lesson as
well! A few typos (crap in a tank! which I assume is a typo, but
never having finished it I could be wrong! Then again, after some research, I couldn't find anything in a tank, nor any crab or crap bosses!), but nevertheless a
brilliant review.

F-Zero GX by Allizika

While it definitely could have used a bit more info and detail I must
admit I thought that that was also where its strengths lay. It was too
the point, and despite the lack of detail, it still managed to paint a
pretty good picture F-Zero GX.

Wii Music by waZelda

A controversial choice for a review to be sure, and a controversial
stance to boot! Nevertheless a well written review. The structure is a
little inconsistent, going from the original two points, to a more
traditional information based review, but it managed to keep a level
of consistency in the writing styIe and certainly got waZelda's
thoughts across very well. Very good review, but once again watch the
typos!

Far Cry 2 by sandyqbg

Another good'un, and quite a comprehensive review. Very information
based and dense, yet it is still written with a smooth ****so that
it's still an engaging read. A very polished and structurally strong
review, but some of the wording could certainly use a bit of work, and
a bit more of how things related to how the game played would have
possibly improved it a little, but a great review nonetheless.

Gears of War 2 by gamelover117

Another concise and to the point review, and another good'un!
Admittedly it definitely could have used a little more detail info,
but it nevertheless managed to be an engaging read—that got your point
across quite well—albeit a short one.

De Blob by samusarmada

A fantastic review with the added panache and sense of styIe that many
reviews lack. It not only managed to get across a bucket load of
information in an engaging and entertaining way, it also painted a
brilliant picture of how the game played, and on top of that got
across a philosophical agenda!  A very entertaining review, but
sometimes the previously mentioned panache looses a little of its
impact due to typos, so definitely have a look out for those in the
future!

Valkyrie Profile 2: Slimeria by shindark

I didn't enjoy the start too much, I must admit. I thought it was a
bit too slow and un-engaging, but when we got to the meat of the
gameplay and combat and story you started to hit your stride. You
managed to get across your points very well and in an entertaining
way. The grammar was a little questionable, but considering English is
your first language you did pretty damn well. Good stuff, but I
personally didn't think the first bit fitted with the second, and hurt
it structurally, but the latter was a joy to read!

Red Alert 3 by Blue_Tomato

There's that panache again! There's some humour in their, and a very
consistent and tight structure, which help make it a very entertaining
and engaging review. However I think that perhaps there could have
been a bit more said about the gameplay. It's certainly not as short
as some of the reviews here, but I felt like we were only given a
feeling for certain facets of the gameplay, and that we were expected
to fill in the blanks for the rest, which is fine if we'd played a
previous Red Alert game, but if we hadn't it left it a bit lacking.
Nevertheless a great read!

Aberinkulas, Half-Life

Very dramatic, well written, one typo.   Good ending.   Appropriate perspective, reviews from the player point of view, elaborates personal experiences, important for reviewing such an old game.

Optiow, GTA: SA

Spelling and grammar errors.   The review feels too "punchy" switching from one aspect of the game to the next without much connection or use of flow.

Allikaza, F-Zero GX

Not a lot of depth, doesn't go into many reasons why certain characteristics of the game were liked by the reviewer or how they could appeal to others.   A few language issues.

waZelda, Wii Music

Lots of spelling and grammar issues.   Covers the content of the game well while integrating it into the two "objectives" of the game drawn from interviews with Miyamoto.   Is of decent length but doesn't drag on too long.

Sandyqbg, Far Cry 2

Language deteriorates near the end, but seems to recover.   Repetitive use of vocabulary.   Does outline many of the features in the game, though it seems to obsess over comparisons to Crysis.

Gamelover117, Gears of War 2

Concise and to the point.   Summarizes the entire game very quickly.   (External, perhaps not objective, note: Gears 2's online multiplayer is almost unplayable due to lag)   A couple of language issues, but none glaringly affecting the surrounding sentence structure.

Samusarmada, de Blob

Very well written.   Varied vocabulary, but feels forced at times.   A few grammar errors near the start.   Encompasses the game entirely as an experience, rather than concentrating on each aspect of its presentation, yet still gives an impression of the game's technical qualities.

Shindark, Valkyrie Profile 2

A lot of errors, but very understandable as it isn't the writer's first language.   Covers a lot of the game's content, though goes through it procedurally, headings assigned to the facet of the game being discussed then.

Blue_tomato, Red Alert 3

Outlines the game's flaws and advantages, though seemingly only from a dedicated RTS fan point of view.   Some language issues.   Summarizes the game's qualities without over-concentrating on a single aspect.

I didn''t know we had a sandyqpg. Was he the guy who won 1th place?

Congratulations to all the winners, especially the top three who's reviews were just flat-out awesome! Enjoy the tag.

waZelda gets my third place; that review was a great read, I just felt it didn't fully click with the theme of recommending something to get for Christmas, at least not in a positive way. Nevertheless, good stuff!

Look forward to the next competition down the road! We're gonna shake things up!

Very funny

You also missed the "i" in "holiday" in the topic name.

Congratulations to everyone who entered, and especially to our highly ranked competitors.   The reviews were great reads, and, thankfully, very varied in subject and styIe.

"Crap in a tank" is not a typo. Seriously, that's what the final boss looks like. It's a flying turd.

We need more contests like this; that was fun.

Also, no.

I must admit that I don't see the resemblance.

Now imagine if your resolution is really low and you're using the software renderer. Then it would look very much like a toilet.
Also, no.

Congratulation to all winners.

Judges, thanks for your advices.

I'll try to refine my grammar for the future.
