Rockers of the Week

The Who. If you're favorite band does something cool, they probably got the idea from The Who. Pioneers on stage and off stage. Some would say that all rock cliche's came from this revolutionary band. Most consider that the true end of this band came with the death of drummer Keith Moon in 1978. This is also my belief.

Muscian of the Week

Neil Young is our musician of the week. I’m not a fan of the man’s work personally but I cannot deny that the fan base is huge. Neil Young was and still is an inspiration to many musicians. He was a Vietnam anti-war protester and a true American poet.

Musicians of the Week

A band so great that they named their first four albums after themselves. There is not enough that one could say about Led Zepplin, so I'll just say," Ramble On." The above picture is self made artwork. If you would like to see some more of this, let me know.

Musician of the Week

Before Gwen Stefani was showing us outrageous stage performances, before Heart was showing us that girls could rock, there was Janis. Not only could Janis Joplin rock out, she paved the way for women performance on stage. Her music was great. Seeing her live on stage may have been just as inspiring. With a bottle of Southern Comfort in hand, she rock and rolled her flame out. Rock on.

Musicians of the Week

That's right, it's The Eagles. They simply rock. Cheating women, hangover's, and seeing that things aren't always black and white. The Eagles had a way of singing about the tough things and life and showing us that bad is truly a point of view.

Musician of the Week

I've taken control over the Musician of the Week and I will keep this updated every week. I wanted to start off with our roots. So Elvis is the man this week. Fear not, your favorite rocker will find his way here. If he was worth his wait in drum sticks that is. The short paragragh at the end of the post will be my personal opinion and my reason why they are the musician of the week. If you don't like what I say, that's fine. Talk about it in a thread. Call it "JeRkA55 is a JeRk".

BREAKING NEWS: Live 8
The first track from Live 8 is now available for download on iTunes. The song? "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", performed by Paul McCartney and U2. Seems like an appropriate kickoff.

Featured Album: Back in Black (1980)

Personally, I don't think that it's quite as good as some people make it out to be, but that being said, it is a great tribute to Bon Scott, the limo driver-turned-rock star that brought them to the brink of superstardom on this side of the Pacific.

Guitar Hero
We have this game in our SU arcade at the University of Calgary, but I was interested in seeing the
track list for the new PS2 version. It may also be of some interest to the rest of you, given the bands there, ranging from Cream and David Bowie to the Queens and Sum 41. If this sampler is any indication, it looks like they've found a hell of a good mix. Next burning question: how much will the guitar controller be?

Old CRR threads
If we want to use them, the mods and I will have to move them from the old UCB. If that doesn't matter to y'all, let us know quickly. Also, it seems I've started this up at an inopportune time, since I'm flying to Ontario in two days and will be without broadband, and therefore not on much. Hopefully, the Officers (for now, the old mods and Dupuis) shouldn't have any problems they need me for.
Edit: Officers can temporarily promote people, in case for some reason one or more of the mods doesn't get promoted properly.
