Developed by shooter experts Free Radical, creators of the critically acclaimed TimeSplitters series, Haze is scheduled for release exclusively on the PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system on May 20th 2008.
Woo, as the launch of Haze inches ever so closer we seem to be getting a slew of info and goods coming from FRD and Ubisoft.
First up 4 glorious new screens to feast your eyes on:
Next up, gamespot sat down with FRD and Haze to see what it's all about, this is their Hands on report:
Last but not least an interview with Derek Littlewood:
Ubisoft has finally plastered a date on Haze, which will be out on 22nd May.
The slippery shooter from Free Radical was, once upon a time, expected at the end of last year, but was subsequently nudged and budged into the first
Ok, this seems a little odd to me. But I suppose it might be a great advertising idea on Ubisoft's behalf.
GameStop is offering a pre-purchase deal for the game in the U.S. and Canada, basically offering Free Radical's Haze for free for a week.
There's a catch, though. First you have to pre-purchase the game, then you pay for it. You bring it home, get your Haze groove on.
After a week, you have to return the game (ideally, after finishing the game). Once you return it, you get in-store credit for the full amount you paid for the game.
You basically played the game for free, sorta like a free rental.

For those not in the know, Korn - a metal band from California is closely connected to the new FRD game (Haze, duh). They wrote and recorded a song titled "Haze" for the game and were actually given a taste of the game back in the fall of 2007 when the game's initial release date was suppose to be. Jump forward a number of months, 2 delays and a whole lot more work put into haze later and the news has simmered down. However, Korn is still in for the haul with the track and supporting the game with an exclusive download of the song being offered as an extra kewl freebie with the game with a music video also produced release of the song to the mass media was meant for download in April, but it has already been leaked to the internet.
You can listen to the leaked song via youtube Here.
Jonothan Davis, vocalist for the band has been quoted saying:
"Gaming for me is a religion and Haze is the $***! I had to come up with a track that can hit up that kind of rush I get from the game and I think we really rocked it!!"
** As far as I know, the Official music video hasn't been releaed yet, but you can find some fan vids on youtube as well.
Sigh, seems that guys at ubisoft can't get their stories straight or make up their minds. As reported last week, 2 individual Ubisot Reps claimed with clear confidence (at the Play.com show) that Haze would be 100% exclusive to the PS3 for ever, end of story.
Not even a week later we've got news from Ubisoft again saying that Haze is "PS3 exclusive for now".
Quoted:
"Speaking in response to claims from Play.com Live that Haze would definitely not be ported to the Xbox 360, Ubisoft has clarified that the official stance on the game is that it will remain a PlayStation 3 exclusive "for now."
The publisher told website CVG that the game would be "exclusive on PS3 for now," implying that the First Person Shooter (FSP) may only be contracted as a timed exclusive.
Over the weekend unnamed representatives for the company at Play Live said that the game would "never" appear on the Xbox 360, and would only be available for Sony's next-generatoin console."
PSU.com is reporting that Ubisoft has come forward at this year's Play.com Live event in a gesture to destroy any rumors that are floating about about haze's exclusivity.
Quoted:
" Jumping to present day, several Ubisoft representatives at Play.com Live have confirmed that the title is not a timed exclusive, but fully exclusive to PS3. To reiterate, it will never come out on any other platform. There will be no 360 SKU, no PC SKU."
As haze inches ever so much closer to it's May release date, we seem to be getting a trickle of content from developer Free Radical Design. Here are 3 new screenshots!

Derek Littlewood, Creative Lead at Free Radical Design, agreed to answer some of our questions about Haze. Here's what he had to say:
[Joe] What sets Haze apart from its competitors and can you tell us a bit more about the story?
[Derek] Haze is set in the year 2048, a near future dominated by the multinational corporation Mantel, who are responsible for everything from public transport to private military outsourcing. The game takes place in a South American country whose government has been overthrown by a rebel faction known as 'The Promise Hand' and Mantel's military arm has been enlisted to go there and restore peace and order.
One of Mantel's finest achievements is their 'bio-enhancing combat medication' known as nectar. Nectar provides a multitude of benefits, from improved vision, to greater speed and strength, and is constantly fed to every Mantel soldier via a back-mounted intravenous administrator.
The player takes on the role of Sergeant Shane Carpenter on his first day after being drafted in to help with the war effort, and the game follows his experiences as he progresses deeper into the war zone and discovers more about the reality of the war, of Mantel, and of nectar.
Perhaps our most unique gameplay feature is that Haze features two completely unique **** of play, as you get to play not only as a nectar-fuelled Mantel trooper but also as a cunning and improvisational Promise Hand rebel, with both sides having unique abilities and **** of fighting. Where this really comes alive is in our 16 player online multiplayer, with the asymmetric nature of the two sides really making your choice of sides matter.
Oh, and we're also supporting four player online coop – did I mention that?

A new trailer, and a resonable release data. The guys at radical have treated us to a new footage and pre-renders combined, all toped with the song that hits up that kind of rush (hotspot joke.) Head over to Kotaku for the trailer: http://kotaku.com/360917/haze-gets-a-hazy-release-date. O and the data set is May 2008.
Speaking on Ubisoft's official forum, a company spokesperson stated, "While we can't explicitly say what improvements we've made (I'd love to tell you all the cool stuff we've been putting in!... but I also love my job too...)."
"I can guarantee you that the extra bit of time has made a big difference for the better".
Additionally, the team sympathizes with the frustration shared by consumers over the game's delay, "but we just want to make sure things are right for the people who'll be playing Haze *very* soon".
"...maybe once Haze is sat toasting away in your PS3s we'll be able to do some post mortem video's/articles for you lot, and explain what's gone in and what improved with the bit of extra time we had", the spokesperson added.
Stay tuned for more coverage on Haze as it breaks.
As it is right now, Haze is well... showded in Haze.
Way to little info and way too many rumors are destroying the hype for this game as we patient fans of FRD sit and await more info for this upcoming great.
When first announced it was a PC, PS3, 360 title which then shifted into a PS3 timed exclusive and later a solid PS3 only exclusive and now we've got news that it might be a timed exclusive yet again. What exactly is going on with FRD? How complete is teh game? When will we see it?
We here at the Haze Union are going to try and answer those questions and get down to teh core of the game as time passes on by bringing you all we can. We've been slack for quite some time now, namely because of the confusion and the fact fans can't get excited for a game when nothing, I mean absolutly nothing new has been announced in a long time.
Stay tuned.
Just to clear some things up, FRD decided to hold an interview with PSU and lay down some facts. They are:
-The game's story is set to be very personal, with players altering the fate of one man.
-Although the game is linear in progression, several secrets have been hidden by the development team to extend replay value.
-There is some degree of destructable environments.
-The max online player count is 24.
-4 Player online co-op is also available, max of two players per TV set.
-Yes, there will be BOTS for offline multiplayer.
-Each faction has a wide variety of vehicles.
-One vehicle was designed specifically for one of the multiplayer maps.
-Story-themed multiplayer maps.
-Coming in late November exclusively to the PS3.
Wait did I already talk about this before?????????? well I don'tcare but if you want to read more just ............................ CLICK ON THE TITLE PAGE FORMORE

Ubisoft has told GameSpot that First Radical's sci-fi first-person shooter Haze is now being planned solely for Sony's PlayStation 3 platform.
Originally, Haze was slated as a multiplatform release for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 in spring, but back in May Ubisoft announced that the PS3 had become the "lead platform" for the title, which would be released in November on the PS3-only, although "no exclusivity for any platform has been officially announced."
Today, Ubisoft said that currently no other versions in development, and although it was still leaving the door open in the future for "new partnerships," currently the game is indeed only planned for the PS3. A spokesperson said, "The official statement on PC and Xbox 360 is that these platforms are not confirmed."
The Web sites of Free Radical, the Official Haze site, and Ubisoft site, all now only list the PS3 version of the game.
