Stone Cold Steve Austin To Host Raw

scsa-1.jpg picture by ForPhotoStuff

According to WWE.com, Stone Cold Steve Austin will host Raw on March 15th. Here is the blurb from WWE.com, in case they remove it like the initial Mike Tyson announcement…

Less than two weeks before WrestleMania XXVI, WWE Hall of Famer "Stone Cold" Steve Austin hosts Raw on March 15. The WWE Universe should certainly mark their calendars for the legendary Rattlesnake's return, as it is sure to turn WWE's flagship show upside down. Though it's uncertain what will happen when Stone Cold takes his place at the head of Raw for one night only, there's no doubt that he'll be looked at as one of Raw's most controversial special guest hosts.

A New Monday Night Wars To Begin January 4th?
TNA sent out the following announcement tonight...
HULKAMANIA IS COMING BACK TO MONDAY NIGHT ON "TNA iMPACT!" LIVE JANUARY 4 ON SPIKE TV

Hulk Hogan's First Live Appearance On Spike TV's "TNA iMPACT" Will Be In A Special 3-Hour Live Episode Monday, January 4 At 8:00 PM ET/PT

The biggest name in professional wrestling history, Hulk Hogan, will make his first live appearance on Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling's "TNA iMPACT!" in a live 3-hour special on Spike TV Monday, January 4, 2010 at 8:00PM ET/PT. Hogan and TNA President Dixie Carter attended "The Ultimate Fighter Heavyweights" Finale in Las Vegas where Hogan made the announcement in an interview with Joe Rogan.

"TNA iMPACT!" will be going against "WWE Monday Raw" on USA Network, the first time two wrestling companies have broadcast live head-to-head since the "Monday Night Wars" in the late 1990's between WWE and WCW. This "iMPACT!" special will broadcast live from the TNA iMPACT! Zone at Universal Studios in Orlando, Fl.

Hogan's first appearance inside the six-sided ring of TNA Wrestling will follow weeks of speculation after Hogan and Carter announced their partnership on October 27 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Hogan has hinted in various media interviews that he'll have multiple surprises in store for TNA Wrestling fans.

"I knew when I signed with TNA, that it would be important to make a statement with the first episode. Going head-to-head on January 4th, makes the statement loud and clear: Game on!" Hogan said.

"TNA is kicking off 2010 in the biggest way possible with the biggest name in the history of our sport. Hulk Hogan is a pop culture icon, and his arrival will change not only TNA, but the entire professional wrestling landscape. We're firing that first shot," Carter said.

Joining Hogan for the three-hour live "iMPACT!" will be TNA World Heavyweight Champion "The Phenomenal" AJ St_yles, Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle, Mick Foley, Kevin Nash, "The Samoan Submission Machine" Samoa Joe, "The Boss" Bobby Lashley and "The Blueprint" Matt Morgan.

"TNA iMPACT!" will resume its normal timeslot on Thursday, January 7th at 9:00 PM ET/PT with an encore viewing of the live "iMPACT!" special.

As with most WWE prospects, be they Divas or wrestlers, Beyor will start down in the WWE's training ground, Florida Championship Wrestling, where she'll learn how to scream and snapmare. And maybe choke. But that's it. Divas are for being all pretty and stuff.

Rey Mysterio Injury Update

rr.jpg picture by ForPhotoStuff

According to Pwinsider.com, Rey Mysterio will be having surgery on his damaged ACL. Instead of the traditional "more invasive" surgery, Rey will undergo a lesser surgery that will allow him to return to the ring sooner. Originally the fear was that he would be out 6-9 months, but with the lesser surgery, he could be back in time for the Royal Rumble. Rey wants to get back into the ring as soon as possible, but the lesser surgery will only be a quick fix as he will need full surgery down the line to fully repair the knee.

Mysterio did appear at a scheduled book signing last night in Ridgewood, NJ. The signing drew around 500 fans, and Mysterio was said to not be selling the injury in any way.

Brock Lesnar Dealing With Serious Health Issues

According to Dave Meltzer, Brock Lesnar's health status is way more serious than had been previously reported. Lesnar went to Canada last week for rest, as he is recovering from Mono, and while there collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. There is a major health issue that he is not letting out, but to kill rumors that may pop up, he does NOT have cancer or HIV/AIDS. It is said that Lesnar will not fight for a very long time, if ever again. Dana White will head to Minnesota to meet with Lesnar, and will also try to get him into the Mayo Clinic, or some other top notch medical facility.

Jim Ross Suffers Third Bell's Palsy Attack

JimRoss.jpg picture by ForPhotoStuff

- Jim Ross posted the following on his blog today:

It was an interesting plane ride from OKC to Columbia, South Carolina Monday night. On my flight from OKC to Atlanta I had my 3rd Bells palsy attack.

I was able to reach WWE doctors who were in Jacksonville for Raw and they were able to call in the medicines I needed to get started on to slow down the paralysis. Now we just wait and see how the meds work and Mother Nature takes her course.

My plans are to tape SD tonite working with the King and perhaps even Michael Cole so we can make sure we can do the job that the product and the talents deserve.

- Ross has since updated his site, stating that he will not call Smackdown as planned...

This is an update on my previous blog. Not the news I wanted to share.

It has been decided that I should not risk further issues by working tonight and I am in the process of arranging a flight back to OKC so I can see a neurologist on Wednesday.

Life is about facing the challenges we encounter so I am going to do all I can to get better and back at the announce desk asap. I wish I had more answers but I simply don't at this time.

I want to be a part of Bragging Rights but only time will tell if that will be physically possible. My passion and love for the game is in tact but I have to do what's best for my long term health.

WWE has been tremendously supportive of my situatiion of which I am very grateful.

Never count me out of the game as this isn't the first mountain that I have had to climb. Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole will handle SD from Columbia. My thanks to every one for understanding this matter. Better days are on the horizon.

Shane McMahon Resigns From WWE

SM.jpg picture by ForPhotoStuff

Shane McMahon posted the following announcement on WWE.com, announcing his resignation from WWE:

It is with great sadness that I announce my resignation from the WWE, effective January 1, 2010.

I have never even considered a future outside the walls of the WWE. However, sometimes life takes an unexpected turn and while it is the most difficult decision I have ever made, it is time for me to move on.

First and foremost, I would like to thank my father for the incredible education working with him has provided and for giving me the opportunity to play a role in building WWE into the global phenomenon that it is today. I am extremely proud to have been the 4th generation in this business, and I am grateful for everyday I was able to work along side not only my own, but the entire WWE family.

Thank you to all of the WWE Superstars both past and present for your passion, pride and dedication. You are truly the engine of the organization and it has been a pleasure to work with, learn from and get to know all of you. Thank you for the privilege of sharing the stage with you and for allowing me to become but a momentary member of your elite brotherhood. I have so much appreciation for the many sacrifices you endure, both physically and personally, to make this business the success that it is. The respect I have for each of you is immeasurable.

Finally, there are no words to express my gratitude to WWE fans the world over for supporting this company through good times and bad and for your unbridled passion that fuels the Superstars' performances. I am profoundly grateful to have been able to entertain you both in front of the camera and from behind the scenes. You are the greatest fans in the world.

I will always love this business and will remain a fan forever.
