The survival horror genre is rife with games in which you are isolated in a hostile environment full of monsters, and Dead Space is no exception. But from the moment you're thrown into the middle of the fray in the heart-pounding introduction until the bone-chilling conclusion, it's clear that this is something quite unique. With its disturbingly twisted visuals, its deeply engrossing story, and innovative strategic dismemberment combat system, Dead Space is a best-in-its-class game that surpasses other entries in its venerable genre in nearly every way and will be the standard by which they are judged for years to come.
When the Concordance Extraction Corporation loses radio contact with its Planet Cracker-class mining ship, the USG Ishimura, engineer Isaac Clarke is dispatched on a routine mission to repair its communications array. However, Clarke is also on a mission of his own, having recently received a cryptic message from Nicole Brennan, a medical officer serving aboard the Ishimura. While on board he intends to reunite with her and learn the meaning behind her strange broadcast. Unfortunately, the moment you set foot on the derelict ship, it's obvious that something terrible has happened.
This is shown at the end of the 'Playing God' RE5 TGS Trailer.
Jill Valentine was the lead female character in RE1 (Chris being the male option) and played the lead role in RE3. So a very key character to the RE series for those people who didn't know.

Project Origin is both a sequel and a fresh beginning for the F.E.A.R. series. While it will continue the story of its predecessor, it promises to be more action-oriented thanks to an increase in outdoor environments. Certainly, the addition of mech-based combat is a new direction for the series, even if it isn't for developer Monolith, which has produced large-scale games in the past. We got a chance to look at an updated build of Project Origin today when Warner Bros. popped into the office, and the publisher was kind enough to tell us about where it's hoping to take the game when it's released in the first quarter of 2009.
The titular homecoming of the upcoming Silent Hill game holds a number of meanings. It first and foremost refers to the return of protagonist Alex Shepherd to his hometown of Shepherd's Glen, but it also in many ways signifies a return to the roots of what Silent Hill itself is meant to be--a really, really creepy place. We recently had the chance to play through the first few hours of Silent Hill: Homecoming, and we've gathered our impressions together in one place about this, the most atmospheric Silent Hill yet.
The game begins quite literally inside of a nightmare. Alex finds himself strapped down onto a gurney inside of the Alchemilla Hospital (a location that fans of the series will no doubt recognize). He is pushed, struggling the entire way, through the sinister hospital, and along the way bears witness to a number of horrifying sights. Finally left alone in an operating room, Alex is able to break free of his bonds just as an unseen foe runs a nurse through with a massive and unwieldy blade in the hallway.
After wandering the halls, you find Alex's little brother, Joshua, drawing just out of reach behind a locked door. Alex is determined to save his brother, but with a locked door between the two the only thing you can do is try to find the security code. Luckily, the six-digit number can be conveniently found written across an x-ray, and after tracking down the errant half the door is opened, and Josh takes off down the hall.
Heres the lastest on RE5:
- A new trailer will be shown in the very near future.
- For now, Famitsu will show images and some info from one part of that trailer. (intro paragraph written by Takeuchi)
- There's a new female character, shown holding a shotgun and wearing a tank top and boots similar to the ones Jill wore in RE3.
- In addition to areas that make use of sunlight as a gameplay dynamic, there will be darker, shadow-filled areas as well, such as a cavern where Chris utilizes a flashlight. There will be an intense contrast between light and dark.
- Chris is shown using his knife, a sniper rifle above a bridge that's above a river, and of course the handgun.
- A few pieces of artwork are shown, such Chris fighting villagers near a crashed helicopter, that same helicopter flying amidst a smoke-filled sky, and Chris witnessing the helicopter being shot down. There's also some kind of garden in the cavern with a giant hole above it, allowing the sunlight in.
- Chris is shown holding a blond girl noticeably shorter than him in a building.
- A picture of a chainsaw and the right leg of its weilder is shown.
- Chris will be up against very powerful enemies once again, and this shot of some creature behind iron bars is reminiscent of Chris's previous enemies, such as CODE: Veronica's Nosferatu (although it was Claire who faced him) and the REmake's Lisa Trevor. Those two creatures were imprisoned at some point as well.

Xbox 360 and PS3 entry in the series set to scare Europe in late September.

Ok so its in Japanese atm, but who cares, any info is good info right? ![]()
"Capcom has told Eurogamer that we won't be seeing any new gameplay footage of Resident Evil 5 released this week despite reports to the exciting contrary.
According to the publisher, the special DVD attached to Famitsu in Japan this Friday will only contain an interview with a producer on the title, not a fresh glimpse at the action as our chums at ThreeSpeech suggest.
The disc has been created to celebrate 25 years of Capcom, and could reveal some fresh information about the hotly anticipated survival-horror game. So, expect more around Friday, and until then just imagine you're staring at door slowly opening on a black background like in the old days."

"Bad news for fans of survival horror, which will have to wait a little longer before they can taste Condemned 2: Bloodshot. SEGA indeed came to announce a further postponement of the game, even though the title had already been recently postponed by two weeks. It is therefore necessary to wait until April 4 to find the friend Ethan Thomas in action"
Well I guess I'll be picking up a certain driving simulator prolouge instead on the date it was meant to come out. Might be a long time before I play Condemned 2 as by April, money will be saved for a certain free-roaming game.
Below is the article from PSU.com detailing the speculated rumor. http://www.psu.com/Resident-Evil-5-to-be-released-as-soon-as-October-News--a0002925-p0.php
Resident Evil 5 to be released as soon as October?
Posted on March 1st, 2008 at 05:51 EDT
According to rumors in the latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, Capcom plans to release Resident Evil 5 before/during the holiday season of this year.
Now we would just say that this could be an April Fools Joke to get fans riled up; however, PSU has heard from our own sources that this is true. We were told that not only will Resident Evil 5 be in stores by the holidays, but could be on shelves as soon as October.
Here's a really good Q&A with Alone In The Dark's producer, its worth the read as it tells us a lot, some you might already know but the games sounding and looking great. Check the full bulletin for the Q&A.
Includes Screenshots![]()
*Certain words have been censored thanks to GS, in all cases in the Q&A the word is 's-t-y-l-e'*
IGN's preview of Fatal Frame 4 (Known as Project Zero in the EU) for the Nintendo Wii, its mostly about what we can expect to see in Fatal Frame 4.
Yeah so a big update for the upcoming CGI movie Resident Evil: Degeneration, with some nice new screenshots.
"It's been a while since we last heard from Capcom and Sony Pictures Entertainment about their big collaboration project for the first full-length CGI movie based on the Resident Evil series. However, here's a big update: eye-popping exclusive screenshots of the Resident Evil: Degeneration.
While the visuals we have don't exactly seem on par with Final Fantasy: Advent Children, the way the characters were rendered (Claire and Leon ftw!) was still expertly done and go beyond your average Resident Evil game graphics.
Still, we're hoping the movie itself still has a lot more to show us since the initial screenshots are drool-worthy enough as it is. Since both Leon and Claire are in the cast, it seems that the movie will be taking off from, or at least will be related to, the Code Veronica game. Hopefully, we'll see how the movie plays itself out when it gets released next year. In the meantime, lets all enjoy the eye candy with these lovely screenshots from the movie." -taken from www.qj.net
For the images you'll have to check out the site as the ones they use dont work with GS, and the smaller images are alot smaller.
So as we can see from the pics, the film will be set 7 years after everything that happened in Raccoon City, so after RE0, 1, 2 and 3, also Code Veronica and 1 year after what happened in RE4. So RE5 is set 10 years after RE1, so its safe to say this will be before RE5 and could also bridge the gap for Leon and Claire between the events after RE2/CV to RE5, like RE:UC did for Chris and Jill in the last scenario. This could also be the reason why RE2/RE:CV/RE4 wasnt in UC and obviously why Leon and Claire wernt there. Well whenever theres more info I'll update, so keep checking the union ![]()
In hope of trying to get this union active, Ill start doing more updates. The union has potential![]()
"Konami have released some "new" screenshots of what we've seen in recent scans. It looks as though they have turned the contrast up a bit for some reason, so these shots are probably not a representative of the what the game should look like, judging from every other video/screenshot we've seen.
In the first screenshot there is a very clear "A" in the corner, which means they're most likely leading on the Xbox 360 which is slightly worrying as a PS3 owner, and I hope they don't follow the trend of bad 360 to PS3 ports. The hospital has been in screenshots and videos for a while now, so this is most likely a demo level. Let's hope that Xbox Live and PSN get this demo at some point!"
