When I first started the game,I didn't know what to expect. Some random guys come up at me and I fight them. This sounds boring at first but when you start the game it does it so well you can play the game all day without getting bored. The blood spurt effects kick ass!
The ragdoll physics kick ass also! I love it when I blast an enemy close range with the shotgun and he bursts into pieces. There's lots of creative weapons,my favorite is the one which nails opponents to the wall. The game is amazing and fun! It manages to take us back to the days of Quake without the 'deja vu' feeling. Level designs are pretty awesome, especially the Cathedral and Hell ("Hell" yeah!).
The only bad thing I can say about the game is that it's repetitive. The only thing which will keep you from stopping to play it is when you find new weapons, unlock new tarot cards (I'll explain later about those cards) and watching ragdolls fly around leaving a bloody mess and guts. Now,the tarot cards I mentioned are unlockable bonuses (that will make your way of killing enemies even more fun) if you do a objective. The objectives are not necessary but if you don't do them you will miss tarot card.Luckily you can replay the level at any time.
Now let's talk about the soundtrack. The soundtrack is f**king awesome especially if you love metal and hard rock. There's 2 types of music in the game. The quiet music (when there are no enemies around) and the battle one (when you face the hordes of enemies, duh!).Well you can youtube search the soundtrack yourself.I'd recommend it if you haven't played the game. The music really adds up to the game making you wanna play it even more.
Well,I would recommend this game to anyone who likes FPS games. For me this is one of the best FPS games I ever played besides Quake.
Here's a tip for what to do in this game:
Shoot,blast,slice,cut,kill,massacre,eliminate,gut,pwn and blow up.

Painkiller is straightforward and repetitive, but it is still real fun even though it lacks what today's shooters have.

Painkiller is a plain and simple masterpiece, and the last of a seemingly dying breed of just plain fun FPS.

a mostly successful throwback to the glorious nostalgia of id-popularized shooters and their myriad imitators.
